Seattle Seahawks - 2009 and beyond

After very many unsuccessful tries at running an fblog and a career at once I am going to try to maintain a presence here and going to try to start and finish a career as the Seahawks' skipper.

I don't care how I win, I just want to win

Rules that I have to follow:

    1) I cannot allow more than $20.00M in cap penalties by the end of the year.

    2) I must always have $15.00M in free space available before the start of the next Free Agency period.

    3) I cannot have more than 12 draft picks in a draft year.

    4) No motivator skill at all during the game.

    5) No less than 45 players on the roster during the period between the draft and the Post Season.

If I break any of these I will re-start the game. I'm ready for a challenge.

    My trait: Commander.

    Abilities:
    Player Development Level 5

Physical Development Running Back Level 3
    Physical Development Linebacker Level 3
    Physical Development Offensive Level 3

    Draft Path: Mike Zazzali

Re: Seattle Seahawks - 2009 and beyond

With the 2008 season behind us, it is time to begin the 2009 Season. We finished the year 12-4 and lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round.

I have kept most of my staff but I'm bringing Andre(I think that's his name) Bishop, level 5 skills across the board.

        I have $35.00 to spend.

I have put Matt Hasselbeck and Marcus Trufant(Franchise tag) on the trade block, because I am planning on trading up in the draft to get either QB Morgan Barnes, or Chris Essex. Mike Zazzali is an automatic 1st overall pick, and I do not want to give up a lot for him.

We are ready for the new year!

Next update will come on Friday.

Re: Seattle Seahawks - 2009 and beyond

I decided to run the 2009 offseason today, so here is an update.

2009 is where it all begins.

The 2009 offseason was a quite one for the Seahawks, so they could afford to save $$$ for draft picks. They did however, sign a few players, each for around $4.0 - $5.0M. I don't remember who though.

          It's draft day!

Most of the fans in Seattle were expecting a Quarterback to be drafted in the first round with Paul Lacey. The Seahawks gave up their #24th pick and their 2010 3rd Round pick, and their 2010 5th Round pick.

However, the Seahawks had a different plan in mind.

Roger Goodell: "With the 18th pick in the NFL draft, the Seattle Seahawks select, Geno King, MLB, West Virginia."

Yes, clearly a different plan in mind. However, the Seahawks wanted needs, not value. with their second pick, the #32 pick in the NFL draft, they selected Kenton Kasom, whom many people compare to Brian Westbrook.

Probably one of the biggest diamonds in the rough the Seahawks selected was Benji Farms, a Quarterback with an 88 overall potential with their 5th round, #24 pick.

          Complete Seahawks 2009 Draft:

          1, #18th: MLB Geno King
          1, #32nd: HB Kenton Kasom
          3, #24th: WR Donny Garrot
          5, 24th: QB Benji Farms
          7, 24th: RE Julious Simmons

Early in the Preseason the Seahawks decided they wanted Benji Farms to be their QB. So they decided to trade QB Matt Hasselbeck to the Cleveland Browns for a 2010 Third Round pick. It was a big hit($4.0M), however it saved up a huge amount of free space in $9.0M. We now have $25.00M in Free Space. During the beginning of the year we had Franchise-tagged CB Marcus Trufant for $8.50M. So if we can somehow trade him away, we will have around $33.00M in free space. The Seahawks have money to spend and a very good future!

It is now officially a rebuilding year for the Seahawks.

Much more to come in the near future!

I am following. I like the rule about no motivator. I used that upgrade one time and it made everybody a superstar. The game lost any challenge it had and have never used it again.

I am following yours as well.

I agree. The Motivator upped my player's potential level by about 5 points per player which made the game to easy.

                Good rule
Motivator should really only be used if you're new to the game or you want to jump ship and need to take a loser team to competitive level. Say you coach one squad for 5-7 years and get bored. You're already saving up points by then anyways cause you've been killing everyone for a year or 2 at least if not the whole career. Why not go to the worst team in the league, get a good draft in, sign everyone, get through preseason, then use it. Will make that 1st regular season a lot easier with said terrible team.

The other time you could use it and it would be worthwhile is if you have cap trouble and have to lose a lot of key players due to big contracts. Especially if you're on a path where 2 or 3 drafts in a row are kinda "BUSTY", no real superstars, then its beneficial and worthwhile.

Week 8: Seattle Seahawks at Minnesota Vikings

                  Time Length: 5 minutes

                  Sliders: default

To begin the game, it's a defensive struggle. Lofa Tatupu jump starts my defense by getting his first INT of the game.

Of course Benji Farms fumbles the ball at their 40 yard line.

with 1:30 seconds in the first quarter, the Minnesota Vikings start their position at their 40 yard line.

They make a long drive, but Tarvaris Jackson ends the drive by throwing a 5 yard pass Sydney Rice pass at our 5 yard line and gets a TD. K Ryan Longwell tacks on the extra point.

End of 1st Quarter: Minnesota Vikings 7, Seattle Seahawks, 0.
                  ------------------------------------------

It was pretty much a quiet half for the Seattle Seahawwks, up until the last minute of the second quarter. Benji Farms makes a fabulous first TD drive by ending a 90 yard drive with a QB Sneak TD at the one yard line. Orlindo Mare ends the drive with the PAT.

Minnesota Vikings 7, Seattle Seahawks, 7.

Kelly Jennings does not want the Seahawk's half to end yet, so he grabs a T-Jack INT with 15 seconds to go in the half.

In our drive, nothing really happend as Benji Farms missed all of his pass attempts. The first half ends.

End of Half: Minnesota Vikings 7, Seattle Seahawks, 7.
                  -------------------------------------------

The Second half started with Ryan Longwell kicking a 90 yard kick it was returned for 23 yards by Kenton Kasom.

It was another quiet quarter, but Benji Farms eventually had a drive that resulted in a 20 yd TD pass to B. Garrett. It is the Seahawk's first lead in the game.

Seattle Seahawks 14, Minnesota Vikings, 7.

In the Seahawks' next drive, Benji Farms would complete a 20 yard pass to Deon Branch with 54 seconds left in the thrid quarter, but eventually that would be all that he would get in the drive. The Third Quarter Ends.

End of Third Quarter: Seattle Seahawks 14, Minnesota Vikings 7.
                  -------------------------------------------
Things were looking good for the Seahawks until Tarvaris Jackson passed a TD to Sydney Rice with 4:20 left to begin the 4th quarter. The Vikings did not want to lose.

Seattle Seahawks 14, Minnesota Vikings, 14

The Fourth quarter was an eventful quarter for Benji Farms as he made a pair of 20 yard passes- one to Courtney Taylor(WR)(21 yards), and the other to Deion Branch(WR)(21 yards). Unfortunately those would be the only completions in the drive.

The Minnesota Vikings would make it down to the Seahawk's 13 yard line. Ryan Longwell Would make a Field goal. It's crunch time!

Minnesota Vikings 17, Seattle Seahawks 14.

Benji Farms had 3 chances in the last minute, all three of them were bombs. 2 of them were made, but it cost them the game. Minnesota Wins the game. Seattle drops to 3-4 on the season.

Final: Minnesota Vikings 17, Seattle Seahawks 14.

Overall I am pretty happy about the team, despite the loss. Benji Farms did not give up any INT's nor fumbles and our defense played pretty well with the 2 Int's.
I forgot to mention, one of our LB Cudi Johnson forced 2 fumbles and recovered both of them.

However I am disappointed as well because our defense played so well yet gave up 17 points. Farms deserves some of the blame as he had numerous opportunities to score many, many more points. However, it's okay, he's a work in progress, he'll improve in time, and we are overall a young team, but it's a rebuilding season, these games should happen.

                  Much more to come!

Re: Seattle Seahawks - 2009 and beyond

The 2009 season is over, and after promising to the owner to win at least 3 games due to the rebuilding year, my players decided they did not want to win 3 games. Instead, we finished the year 9-7 with a wild card round playoff loss to Green Bay. A great second year! Benji Farms had a remarkable first year, Throwing only 15 Interceptions, 21 Touchdowns, 3,350 passing yards, and averaged an astounding 209.3 yards per game. This guy is now an 85 overall, with an 88 overall potential.

Our first round pick, Gino King had an okay first year. 23 tackles, 1 deflection, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. He is an 80 overall, however, he has a 91 potential. I expect better things from him in the future!

Our WR Donny Garrett was Farm's favorite target. Garrett recorded 55 receptions, 983 yards, 6 TD's, averaged 17.8 yards per game, and 11 drops. he is an 80 overall, however, he also has an 88 potential.

Overall, I am happy with what our team brings to the table. I thought we would not be a very good team this year. I have cut our QB Seneca Wallace, which makes Farms the only Quarterback on the team. however that will be changed.

We have $38.64M to spend this offseason, which will be very helpful because I plan to spend. We do however have $9.16M in penalties so I will need to be careful about who I sign.

Our top ten needs from top priority to low priority:
                    RG1 (High Priority)
                    P
                    K
                    CB2
                    RE1
                    C1
                    QB2
                    HB1
                    FS1
                    CB3
                    LOLB1.

The Seahawks would like to announce the following coach acquisitions:

                    General Manager Bob Corsetti
                    Running Back Coach Eric Bieniemy
                    Offensive Line Coach Juan Castillo
                    Linebacker coach Tex Mackett
                    Defensive Line coach Todd Grantham
                    Trainer Robert Wyman

The new coaches are huge acquisitions to the team as they bring plenty of potential to the Seahawks. We are excited about what the future holds for us.

Re: Seattle Seahawks - 2009 and beyond

The Seahawks had a plan to spend, however they decided to have a quiet offseason in order to save $$$ for next year's free agent season.

My new GM Bob Corsetti unleashed his skills he brought to the Seahawks to unearth 2 very good Quarterbacks that we eventually drafted and that will bring some good competition to Benji Farms: Wade Appling(Drew Brees, 95 Overall Potential), and Jeremie Sacre(Drew Brees, 91 Potential).

                      Complete 2010 NFL Draft:
Round 1: Pick 22: RG Quincy Fields(83 OVR, 91 Potential)
Round 2, pick 6: QB Wade Appling (73 OVR, 95 Potential)
Round 4, Pick 23: WR Tommie Newman(69 OVR, ? Potential)
Round 5, Pick 23: QB Jeremie Sacre(53 OVR, 91 Potential)

There are risks to these guys, however I'm willing to take the gamble in hopes that we will have the best QB trio in the NFL soon.

While we went 2-2 in the preseason I am pleasently surprised again. Sacre got injured for 3 weeks, so he did not get a good chance to show what he's got.

                        W. Appling had a very good preseason, throwing for 4 TD's and one INT in week 4. Quincy Fields got injured for 3 weeks as well so he didn't get much time show me how good he can be, however he's returned to an overall of 84/95.

I will post The Offensive and Defensive rosters for the year shortly.

UPDATE: Benji Farms has been traded to the Falcons for a 6th Round Pick for this year and next year. Wade Appling will now be our starter. He is curently at an overall of 84 with a 95 overall potential. 4 weeks into the season Appling has gathered an 81.3 with 8 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He has thrown for 1101 yards and 275.2 yards per game. A typical first year quarterback season. However he will be improved when come next year.

We have traded for Matt Leinart for a 4th round pick. He will be Appling's backup. He has an 85 overall potential.

We are currently riding a 3-1 start thanks to our great offense and defense.
