Crystal Palace had a tough draw to start the 2012 campaign with a trip to newly relegated side Wolverhampton.

Crystal Palace came out aggressive early and got behind the Wolves defense, but struggled to break through.

The Eagles found a break at the 35th minute mark when a questionable foul called against the Wolves led to a PK. The penalty was saved however and no blood was spilled.

The match changed in the 41st minutes when Gardner tried to clear the ball wide of the net but scored an own goal instead. The Wolves took the momentum and the game 3-1 after that moment.
