Just started an Astros franchise and had a great first game, winning 5-3 on a strong start by Rodriguez. The bullpen gave up the lead and gave away Rodriguez' win, but I came back in the bottom 8th on four straight hits to take the lead for good. Myers blew his first save opportunity and I gave Carpenter the opportunity to get one and he pitched well. I like Carpenter's stuff and am gonna keep my eye on him and maybe try him in a setup role and closer role if Myers struggles. Anyone else like him?

I think Cruz would a better fit in terms of a closer. Carpenter better off as a setup man. Don't use him everyday tho. Good thing you have vet in Lyon to help take that role.

Yeah Cruz has closer stuff too I think. I'm not putting Carpenter there yet, just a thought. I just played game two and lost in 12 innings. The Rockies scored five in the top 12th and I scored 3 right away but couldn't get the final two. I dunno what it is but I rake with Schafer. He was a single from the cycle in my second game. Altuve is playing well too. And Johnson singled in the tying run in the bottom ninth to send it to extras...

Carpenter would prolly be well suited as ur 7th-inning guy to start out with....Schafer's not a bad player but i just couldnt get anything going with him....i like Altuve....spunky little hitter.....Johnson....well we all know how i feel about him

                        Re: Da Astros

Well, I went 45 games into my second season and only won 5 games. I couldn't take it anymore... so I decided to simulate the rest of the season.

At the trade deadline, I ended up moving Bud Norris, Marwin Gonzalez, and some other young pieces for LF Casper Wells and RP Scott Elbert.

In the offseason I picked up CF Carlos Gomez and I signed Matt Downs as a backup infielder. I also decided to play one game in every series (more if I like the pitcher match-ups). So, on opening day, this is what my team looked like:

                        1. CF - Carlos Gomez
                        2. 2B - Jimmy Paredes
                        3. 1B - Jonathan Singleton
                        4. RF - JD Martinez
                        5. 3B - Edwin Encarnacion
                        6. LF - Casper Wells
                        7. SS - Jed Lowrie
                        8. C - Jason Castro

                        Bench:
                        2B - Matt Downs
3B - Brett Wallace (finally decided to move him up)
                        C - Chris Wallace
                        RF - Brian Bogusevic
                        CF - Jordan Schafer

                        Rotation:
                        Jordan Lyles
                        John Lamb
                        J.A. Happ
                        Paul Clemens
                        Henry Sosa

In the bullpen I have Kevin Chapman and Scott Elbert as my left-handed specialists. David Carpenter (solid as a rock for me right now) and Wilton Lopez as MRP righties. Al Alburquerque is my setup man and Heath Hembree is my closer.

It's basically the complete opposite of last season for me right now. My starting pitchers are not producing the way I want them to. My relievers have been outstanding, though.

                            Re: Da Astros

I just felt the need to get rid of Norris. He was really struggling and I needed extra power in my lineup. The CPU offered me Casper Wells and a minor league 3B (forgot his name honestly lol) for him.

As far as Singleton goes, I've made it about 7 games into the season so far (played 4 myself). He's hitting .354 with 3 HRs and 8 RBIs. The guy is absolutely stroking it. JD Martinez is hitting .450 with 4 HRs and 7 RBIs.

Paul Clemens got a win in his first start of the year (it was a simmed game). We'll see what he can do.

Also, Paredes actually led my team with a .301 batting average last season.

Another guy I hit well with is Marwin Gonzalez. Something about his stance. I plan on starting a new Astros franchise with the new file coming out after the V3 and V4 edits...
