Still Whining about the Weather "System"

As a minor disclaimer to start, I want to say that I love this game and it does so many things right. This thread is just about one minor issue I have had with the game for last 4 years that just annoys the crap out of me.

I absolutely can't stand how the game A.) randomizes the temperature of games, but only between limited ranges, B.) automatically makes your players all wear long sleeves at a given temperature, and C.) takes away any user control for weather options in Franchise. For a game that does so much to immerse you in the game and make you feel like you're really participating in an MLB game, this aspect drives me nuts. In any "northern" city, you might as well forget about playing any games in first few months and last few months of a season in which the players actually look like their real life counterparts with their respective accessories. The MLB The Show series has always lacked (IMO) that level of detail and uniqueness (in terms of Accessories, Equipment, Tattoos, etc.) that other sports games go at length to to include in order to give their players personality and feel like their real-life counterparts. Limited accessory options, no real equipment, very few tattoos, etc.. Although they have improved (with the addition of a few more Accessory options), it is still far behind the curve for the industry. Despite this, they don't allow the game to display what little it has at its disposal to differentiate the player models by eliminating their equipment edits and automatically giving the players long sleeves for all "cold" games.

Again, I know this is pretty minor in the grand scheme of things, but it seems like such an obvious oversight that would be so easy to eliminate; just give us the option to set weather in Franchise games or give us the ability to customize temperatures, or at least re-tune the weather to be less rigid in its randomization to allow for some more weather variance in certain cities.

I don't think it's that important to be upset about, but whatever. I think they should change it to live weather like Tiger Woods Golf has. That would be cool I think. I don't think we should be able to control the weather in franchise mode. If that happened then people would complain that it's not real. As far as guys wearing long sleeves, well that happens a lot when it is cold out.

I'll say this. The other game gives The option for each player to have or not have long sleeves when it's cold.

Hasn't "the other game" also had rain outs/delays for a very long time? I love The Show to death and would never buy a different baseball game (unless of course MVP comes back [MVP 05 was probably my favorite game ever, not even of just sports games]) but I can't believe they don't have something that happens very frequently like rain outs/delays in the game by now.

Even just a message that says on startup that "This game has been delayed 1 hour for rain" and when you enter the game the seats and everything would be wet with maybe a light drizzle happening would be very cool.

This!! Heck, NCAA football 07 had this so there's no reason a game released 5 yrs layers couldn't include it.

And I agree with the op about accessories. I thought this ur u were going to be able to control sleeves and even if they did wear them you could still see arm bands and stuff. Scea def behind the curve, as u said.

I completely agree with every single word, OP.

            I also agree with this

Yeah, the weather (particularly the temperature) really bugs me. I'm in June in my Braves franchise and, in Atlanta, have had plenty of May and June games in the 50s and 60s where my players are all wearing long sleeves. I mean May and June temperatures in Atlanta are usually in the 80s and 90s, yet I get a couple of games a week in the 60s? I can even live with night games where the game time temperature is in the mid or low 70s but I'm seeing too many games in the 50s and 60s.

Not to mention that who would even wear long sleeves in 50 and 60 degree weather? No one except the babies in the bullpen. Even on Opening day you see guys without sleeves, in northern areas.

I would love to have cold weather games in Minnesota. This is the 3rd year with Target Field in The Show and it's still has sunshine for everyday game and clear skies for every night game. The coldest temp I've seen is 67 degrees. Very unrealistic for Minnesota weather. I've put it in the bugs/glitches thread each year and it's been ignored.

It should just be an option. What's wrong with more options for user to customize as they please?

Yeah, even a 55-65 degree afternoon day with the sun out is pretty nice. Definitely not long sleeve under the jersey top weather. Once you get out there, move around a bit, and work up a sweat I'm sure that 55-60 degree temp is more than bearable without long sleeves.

I disagree, yes, options are nice but I like that random weather factor. With us being able to pick the weather I could see always picking a certain one all the time. Same when people say we should pick time of day. I dont know, maybe its just me and Im weird like that. Lol

But no one is forcing you to disable the random weather. That's the beauty of options.

And yeah I'm from up north man. 60 degrees is nothing. Heck I've been outside in the middle of winter in 20 degree weather in a T-Shirt. You'd be surprised what you can tolerate if you are in a good mood or staying active.

I don't have a problem with people having the option of choosing, I never said that. I just think for realism, which everybody wants, that getting to choose your own weather is not right. Players don't get to choose what it is like outside. If they want to put it in then so be it, I will just choose random all the time. But somebody that says they want realism should not be on here saying that they want to be able to choose their own weather, because that is not real.

Have to agree..I live in Atlanta, and 70's start in March..

But at least I am seeing more "rainy" games than MLB 11
