I think the best move that EA could make at this point, is to show Part 3 of this game, where Oregon has the ball. That way, if their claims are true, we can see Oregon running the option effectively. I know for a lot of OSers, including myself, this would garner some big time interest.

Re: NCAA Football 13 Gameplay Video - Oregon vs. USC - Part 2
The one thing I saw that I did like was that defenders in zone (the D was in zone on every pass in the video) were running with WR's crossing through their zone. You could see it a few times on the slot receivers.
Unfortunately, I think this is what is causing the problems on the plays I pointed out. On the TD, the defender out of position looked like he was trying to run with the WR through his zone, but he simply never released him. He should have had a deep third coverage and would have backpedaled straight back, not even playing attention to that WR running what was an underneath.
On the automotion Drive play, I just can't even come up with an explanation. Like, everything about it is wrong. Not only was the left CB running with the WR, he was running well ahead of the WR. And then the right CB, I don't even know. He sprinted from numbers to hash, froze covering nothing and then sprinted away from the ball as it was thrown.
Is this the read and react system we're getting because that was the most buggy, glitch infested set of defensive clips I've ever seen in a football game. Those plays were truly in line with the option glitch from last year, that bad.
It should also be noted on that same play that the RB was assigned to a blue route, a delayed release into the flat. Neither of which he actually did. He released immediately and he hooked. Had he kept running, he would have run to the area the glitched out LCB should have been and it would have been a walk in touchdown.
EDIT: I tried going second by second through that play to see if there is something I missed or maybe the play call really had those guys assigned to a man while there were hook zones in the middle, but nope. That was straight Cover 2 zone and the guys in flat zones glitched out.
First play I like how the safety got to his drop. The defense was fairly disguised and he had to get to his zone. To get to his zone he had to turn and run in order to get there at the proper depth. He didn't have his back turned the entire time. In previous iterations that safety most likely would have just been lined up in his zone and not to the strong side of the formation. When he bailed to get to his zone he didn't do the "Space Invaders" shuffle. He turned and ran. That's a positive.
Other positives: Linebackers buzzing out to the flats. Corners getting their hands on receivers and redirecting them before releasing them in zone coverage. Defenders carrying receivers through their zones. Not every defender automatically reacting like magnets as soon as a ball is released.
Yeah, some other stuff looked pretty shaky. Hopefully it can be tightened up. But, without knowing difficulty and without sliders..... As for Oregon's defense, Barkley did complete 77% of his passes for 323 and 4 TDs vs. this secondary so, maybe this is fairly accurate.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 13 Gameplay Video - Oregon vs. USC - Part 2
I'm not buying this game just due to the fact that they have USC ranked #21!!! Even Oregon should be at about #5 but they have them at #8. Are you kidding me??? Do these guys not pay attention to college football at all???Comment

Same s***, new year. God... the player models look f***ing stupid and goofy. If they aren't going to change the player models you would think they would atleast put the players in cool gear that players ACTUALLY WEAR to make them look better. I think this may be the first year I boycott this stupid company and not buy their halfa** game, because it really does look extremely similar to 12'. I think I'll rent it though, just because I want to see if they actually did something that they said they would in the "read and react" defenders. Last year they said "no more warp tackling" which was f***ing bulls***. I have guys teleporting to tackle my a** all the time when I play 12'. I bet the head turning stuff will look really unrealistic. EA will probably have defenders heads spinning all the way around like the f***ing exorcist. And then when people complain they will just be like "well, the defender WAS looking at the ball, he just has the neck agility of an owl".Comment

Well there was absolutely nothing I've seen so far that remotely makes me want to buy this.
The video was not impressive at all. Here's to hoping we see some better things before release.Joshua:

Re: NCAA Football 13 Gameplay Video - Oregon vs. USC - Part 2
This is the perfect year IMO to just rent NCAA before purchasing it out right.
I don't think we can even make a fair judgement on the game even with the DEMO because last year there were several glitches and things you had no idea about based on the DEMO.
For me i had no idea that the CPU could only run certain offenses effectively and i had no idea the deep ball was going to be way too effective to a point where you simply had to not throw it in order to ignore the problem.
But that was last year (NCAA 12) and i'm hoping despite the videos being shown that EA will release an outstanding game and make people eat their words.
But it's still a perfect scenario to rent it 1st this year.....NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

Re: NCAA Football 13 Gameplay Video - Oregon vs. USC - Part 2
I wish they would change things each year in the game as well. Ive been playing since Gamebreaker's first season, but Im glad they at least have a decent college fb game out. They make upgrades every year, but they have limitations because of the huge amount of schools. Its not like the pro sports where you cap at 32 teams, venues, dialogues, etc.
That being said, the DBs are still dumb. I play a lot in a 5-person dynasty. We have to bump up the top teams in our dynasty conference to all 99s on defense in virtually every category to make the game playable on Heisman. Even then, while you get robo DBs you also get the DB shown in the USC-Orgeon clip who watches the guy catch the ball in front of him. When I watch the other players in our dynasty get those types of DBs I get pissed. When it happens to me, I feel like Im cheating. The sliders really should affect game play more --- especially on defense. When pash rush is high, D-Line should crush the OL. Disguise the blitzing more please. Don't blitz safeties from 20 yards away. Quit jailbreak blitzing so much. Rotate coverages more quickly. Its too easy to recognize this stuff against the cpu in dynasty mode. The guy playing against Oregon misreads coverage on two plays and gets away with both of them. The LB picks the ball in our dynasty with pass coverage bumped to max and qb accuracy at 15. But its hit or miss on the TD throw. The DB should ALWAYS jump that route with the read is so poor. Just my two cents.Comment
