NCAA Football 2013 - Will there be duplicate numbers?
One of my biggest pet peeves of the NCAA Football series is the non-existence of duplicate numbers for players on different sides of the ball. Sure, the game comes with a few preset combos for certain teams, but it is really difficult to have a 100 percent accurate roster without the ability to edit your own duplicate numbers when entering your own rosters. Does anyone know if EA has given this issue any resolve for their newest edition?Tags: None -
Re: NCAA Football 2013 - Will there be duplicate numbers?
Not intending to pick at you, but I'm not sure why this is needed in the game.
It was my belief that duplicate numbers exist almost exlusively b/c of the roster sizes of real-life college teams -- active, red-shirts, gray-shirts, etc., which all put together can number more than 100 athletes.
With only 70 on the roster in the game (though I'm an advocate for inreasing that figure by even as little as 5), isn't not having duplicate numbers being true to real life if the reason for duplicates doesn't exist?
Again, I'm not calling your question stupid, I'm simply not seeing the reason 'why'. -

They said it was something along the lines of people taking advantage of it on online play by putting in CB #2 in at QB for QB #2. I for one hope they do find someway of letting us have duplicate numbers though. It is frustrating playing with a team and having the wrong numbers on their jerseys because someone else on the team already has it.BuffEye Rosters available on the Xbox 360 and PS3. We NEED duplicate numbers. I hate editing my Tech team and realizing I cant make a guy a number he actually is. Its just really annoying.6+5=7

Re: NCAA Football 2013 - Will there be duplicate numbers?
Because there are so many people on the team that they HAVE to have duplicate numbers or else some guys wouldn't have one. Usually a WR and a CB will have the same number. It's only due to the quantity of players on the roster. If there were only 53 guys, like the NFL, there would be no need for duplicate numbers."Baseball is the coolest sport because, at any moment, the catcher can stop the game and go tell the pitcher a secret" - Rob FeeComment

I'm just going to use my team as an example. Junior CB Justin Gilbert is #4. He's a starter and might be good enough to turn pro after this year. RS Freshman QB JW Walsh is also #4. He wasn't named the starter, but he's the clear backup and will see the field this year. If I were to have to edit these guys, I wouldn't be able to make them both #4, even though those are their numbers in real life. That, in a nutshell, is why you should be able to have duplicate numbers. Back when I bought the game, every year I would have at least one or two players that I couldn't give their real life numbers.
Ultimately, it's a small problem, but sometimes things like this drive me even crazier than the terrible player movement and other gameplay problems. At least with those I understand how difficult it would be to change them at this point. But something like letting gamers have duplicate numbers (one on offense and one on defense) can't be that hard to do.
And I'd buy the excuse that they don't want people pulling substitution shenanigans online (even as weak of an excuse as that is) if it weren't for the fact that they include duplicate numbers as part of the default roster. So, obviously, that isn't the problem or they wouldn't have these duplicate numbers in the first place.Comment

Side note: JW Walsh was awesome for me last year in my "for fun" dynasty I started with OSU. Once Weeden left, Walsh took over and dominated for me at QB.
