Well I'm sure that this has been mentioned but classic stadiums and uni's and the ability to play classic teams and seasons is a must. If they do not want to give us players then let us make our own rosters but give us stadiums and uni's. I keep hearing about how expensive this would be but I have played this game for years on either PS2 or PS3 and I bet I have spent over 300$ nor counting the PS3 itself so can't they take some of the mony out of that? I mean someone just interviewed Knight about classic roster making so that should show that people have an interest in that area. I'm surre even if it has to be DLC that there can be some way to make it where people can play the classics. If not I won't ut next year as I have already closed down this season.

I ment I won't buy. Bad spelling. But also as Knight entioned offline customizing of leagues would help with classic seasons.

One more thing, how about some more old school windups and stances? So many of the ones they have are very repititive and could easily be replaced with some classics, Vida Blue, Don Gullet, Luis Tiant, Jim Bouton,Rod Carew, Reggie Smith, Clemente etc would e very cool to have.

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne

          Hi guys.

I've wroten this in April 2011, so maybe some questions get answers as I had not bought the Show 12'. But this is still what I think about franchise mode

          Franchise Mode
In your opinion what needs to be changed, added, or tweaked to make this portion of the game better? Along with that what would you like to see more of?

*** Give us the ability to modify divisions (ie put the Brewers back in the AL Central)
OCTOBER EDIT : or put the Astros in the AL WEST

*** Create-a-team which replaces another one (location, name, uniforms)

*** Create-a-team which would be add to a division which means 31 teams I know (so maybe 1 more team to create 2 conferences with 16 franchises)

          *** Create-a-stadium if we create-a-team / Create-a-stadium during our franchise.
This feature should allow us to determine :
#1: the field's dimension (left field, left center field, centerfield, right center field, right field but also foul territory with the ability to "draw" it, the depth behind the plate) and its form (is the outfield is straight (as progressive field) or "curve" (as US Cellular field))
#2: the height of the wall (with different height for different zones of the stadium) (as Citi field) and even the possibility to add high wall like the Green Monster
#3: grass or turf / roof or not
#4: obviously the number of rows/seats (which would be related to budget)
          #5: positions of the benches / pen / ...
#6: Decoration (like the fountains in KC)

*** Extend players/coaches' contracts during the season

*** Firing coaches/scout/staff during the season

*** More stats (players & teams) & more splits stats (batter vs pitcher, performance of a player vs a team, in a particular stadium, month by month,...)

*** If possible each player vs player stats during the franchise (which tells us if we perform with a specific player vs a specific player or not)

*** Contracts offered, free agent's type (A/B/ nothing) based also on performance and not only related to ratings

*** Rename our franchise save data (if you play like me with a lot of save you certainly keep some save @ some moment of the season like AS break end of each month,...)

*** Promotion (call up/send down) based on performances for each level (AA/AAA/MLB)

*** Add the possibility to convert players to another position (rather than just editing him)

*** Learn a pitch for a pitcher (rather than just editing him)

*** Add a personnality to players (like Madden 10 did) which influences their choices (for instance, what are they looking for first ? Money ? a ring ? coming back to their birthplace ? neglects small market teams ! never play for a rival or a specific team (do you see A-Rod in a BoSox uniform?) / rival players in the future club / clubhouse cancer like Manny ...)

*** Add a personnality to managers (type of line up : pitching, speed & defense, power, small ball,...)

*** Add a personnality to GM's too. This means going further than just the rebuilding/normal/playoff profile (what do they want ? Obviously if you ask a GM he wants to win so how could he do it ? First making money and then being a contender ? if so, how? marketing, being aggresive on FA to draw a lot of people to the stadium, ...)

*** View stats/awards/winner/standings of the past years.

*** Maybe the overlay of the stats could be like baseball-reference

          Thx for reading

          EDIT :
*** Each stadium created should be shared between players. This allows people to create old stadiums as some did by creating classic rosters.

*** Give the possibility to discuss the retirement of a player, try to convince him to play one more season. If we fail, we should offer him a job in the organisation.

*** I like the TWIB idea. And maybe we could see some higlights of the games we've simulated during the game we are playing (like "live look-in" on MLB)

*** Give the possibility to edit contract players and salary mass. The custom guys for OSFM rosters could this way change the salaries of each players. (A-Rod is making 30 millions not 14 or 15, ...)

*** Re-do the catcher animations when he has to tag a runner sent home. Too often the catcher enters in slow-mode-animation resulting in run scored whereas he had plenty of time to tag him. Same thoughts on bunts, my guys field it too relax.

*** Maybe involve us on flyball by pressing a button to make the catch. The window should be smaller when a poor fielder try to catch the ball.
On routinee flyball you don't see huge differences because even for bad fielders you can make big windows but on line drive you have a smaller window and catching it would be a reward for each of us playing the game. We could have the feeling of saving a run.

*** Of course, with the news we heard today, yesterday (depends on which part of the world you are ) we'll want the 2 more wild cards and the one game play-off game (I don't like it but that's not the point) ; and if Houston change of conference during the 2013 season in the franchise I'll be happy (though the schedule would be unvealed only next September - maybe SCEA could choose a type of schedule)

          MAY 2012 EDIT :
*** Add rain delays / option to close the roof or not

          *** 3 or 4 teams trade

*** more than 3 players involved in a trade by team / add cash in trades

*** Scouting / Draft and so on... I let this to Knight & co

          *** Incentive-based contracts

*** Transactions/Trades filter (as FIFA does)

*** Add the following option : Pitching coach/catcher visit to the mound

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne

Sorry this isn't formatting correctly. Franchise 1. Player budget and finances is broken - I am in year 10 of my franchise. My team is sitting on $1.7 billion in cash, but for some reason, my player budget hasn't increased in 3 years above $199 million. If I have that much cash, let me use it. I play with the Rangers who have a lot of young cheap talent. Well, in 10 years, that talent isn't so cheap. I am having to trade away higher priced veterans and replace them with untested rookies just to stay under budget. Yes I know I could have played with budgets off, but I prefer not too. I'm just saying that the budgets shouldn't have an artificial cap when the team finances can clearly support a higher payroll. 2. Drafting - Drafted players should develop faster. At current pace, it seems like they are not major league ready until 28-30. There should be players in the draft that are near A players by the time they hit 23. Heck, Kershaw is only 24, already has a Cy Young award and in the game is an elite player. The draft system never produces those kinds of players. 3. Rain delays / double headers / working roofs - I think these are all tied together. Roofs should open and close on all the stadiums. Rain in games should delay games, or postpone them and rescheduled with double headers. I also would like to see scheduled double headers as well.

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne

                1) TRADE/FREE AGENCY
                - trade logic has gotten a little better but is still unrealistic.
                - type A and B free agents shoudlnt be solely determined by ratings. if a c rated player hits .300 with 25 homers and 100 rbis, he isnt an A or B because there are players who are rated higher.

                2) PLAYER POTENTIAL
                - everybody in the minors with an A potential always turns into a star. in real life, it is more likely that a top prospect doesnt even turn into something special. have player potential change much more drastically in the minors. perhaps in AA, potential could go up half a letter grade (i.e. 80 potential --> 85 potential). In AAA have it go up or down a full letter grade (80 ---> 90). that may be too much, but just think of a system that doesnt turn all top prospects into superstars. (that also leads to way to many type A free agents years into franchise, causing top current players to not get signed)>

                3) CELEBRATIONS
                - Ever since the first "the show" game, there has been the same exact celebration for world series, lcs, lds, walk offs, etc. I am begging for you guys to change something up. Make the WS celebration something where i wanna put down my controller and watch for a good few minutes. same goes for LCS and if i clinch the division or the WC on the last day. Also, walk off basehits deserve the player to get mobbed on the field, not just casualy high fived. scrapping current celebrations and making new ones would make this game soooo much better and realistic.

                4) CROWD
                - During september or the playoffs, i want the crowd to be more realistic and louder. There was one instance in 2008 when Carlos Beltran hit a homerun on the final day of the season (that was a must win to make the playoffs) in the possible last game at shea stadium to tie the game against the marlins. i could barely hear the announcer call the homeurn because the crowd just errupted. I want situations like this in the game. During the playoffs and WS, it should be like that almost every game.

                5) RTTS
                - I know there is a rtts thread and i have posted many times, but i cannot stress enough how in depth rtts needs to get. There needs to be new stats, old stats (triples, doubles), etc. Also, something to do with money earned is something that every fan has been crying out for. NFL 2k5 has been considered one of the best sports games of all time. Yes, it was in part because of Chris Berman's Sportscenter and a great franchise, but "THE CRIB" made the game so much fun and it made it feel like you were an actual player that got to furnish their new million dollar house/apartment.

MLB The Show is by far my favorite game but if these things, and many more, could be fixed/added in, it would be considered the ebst sports game of all time.

The game needs a new commentary team and better dialogue chemistry like how nba 2k12 displayed it. Its been too long now where i have become accustomed to just turning off the commentary because of the annoyance with it.

Commentary is a crucial part of the presentation and baseball experience. This series has failed in this department.

The pickoff system is just not satisfying as it is now. There is a unrealistic amount of balls thrown into the stands on a pick off to first.

The quick stealing needs a higher % of risk getting back to first base when the picther steps off. There should be animations where the runner trying get back to first stumbles from change of direction, or slows down getting back for an easy out.

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne

I don't know if this is possible, but for RTTS I would love to see them incorporate more minor league levels. For example, if I make an 18 year old pitching prospect born in the U.S. he obviously was just drafted out of high school. How many 18 year olds go straight from high school to AA. It wouldn't be necessary to have rookie and short season teams but at least put in single a advanced teams. At the same time if you are 21 or 22 make it possible to start at AA because you are likely a more advanced player. It would be cool to see them factor age into the ratings system. Allowing younger players to gain points at a quicker rate than their college counterparts as they mature.

I would love to see them incorporate an option to pick a college that you attended or your hometown if you were coming out of high school. When going through the draft to find the team to play for, have a workout that teams attend for your player. For example, have a pitcher go through a live batting practive session against other potential prospects.

For franchise mode I would like them to expand the overall roster size and put single A teams into the game much like how MVP 05 did in their franchise back in the day. It bothers me for some reason that when playing with Knights rosters I have some of my best prospects sitting at the single A level not accruing any stats. It would be cool to be able to create a stadium and move into these stadiums in the offseason much like how Madden did a few years ago. For example, the Oakland A's need a new stadium badly! Give me the option to create a new venue and move them out of the Coliseum.

Last of all I hope that next year they include more accesories for the players. I would love the option to change webbing for gloves. Many players wear phiten necklaces so it would be more authentic if they added necklaces. Gaining some pro licenses would be awesome but I would figure that this is difficult to acheive seeing the numerous brands that are present on the MLB landscape.

The one major thing I want in The Show is to "lock" your attributes at a certain. Lets say for instance I create a contact/speed guy, with little power. I don't want to give him power. But due to the advancement goals, I'm kinda forced to. This leads to unrealistic trends in my player progression. No one transforms from a contact hitter to a power hitter.

I just want the ability to lock any attribute at any point so that it can't get any higher. I'm surprised something like this hasn't been added yet.

A roster/player converter so people don't have to spend 2-4 months recreating the same oldtime or even current year players over and over each year.

                            1. Would like to start a season and skip spring training without having to do a work around to keep lineups intact

                            2. Less spectacular diving catches and less Willie Mays over the shoulder catches. They happen too much imo

                            3. OF depth sometimes seems off. RF plays shallow quite a bit even against lefty power hitters

                            4. Ability to re name save files

As has been mentioned many times, improve trade logic. I'm at the end of May in my franchise and Lester, Cano, Pujols, Wainwright are just some of the guys on the trading block. Really?

A little thing - and maybe the technology isn't there to do this - but I'd prefer having rendered faces than photos. It loses some atmosphere when I trade for a guy and he's still wearing his former team's cap. Yeah, it's a little thing and I'm a little OCD about these things.

I still wouldn't mind pitch speed being slowed down a tad more, although I know that can affect the balance of the game.

Ability to pick my own start time in a franchise. Maybe give us the option to have 1 p.m., 4 p.m. or 7 p.m. games.

Little things for the most part. There's not much to nitpick about with this series.
