Complete 1996 Season - Download details inside

For those of you following my other thread, you already know what I have been working at. For those of you not following my other thread, I have been working since release day to try and accurately recreate the 1996 MLB season. The roster set will be a full 25 man franchise ready set.

As of now, the rosters are live in the vault under the name "Complete 1996 Season" under the username baumy300

I created this new thread to inform you on everything you need to know about these rosters.

Before I get started, I would like to thank the individuals who uploaded players to the vault. I had a tough enough time going at this alone, but having a player here or there I could acquire from the vault made this easier at times. So thank you contributors!

What you need to know - The Negative

    The pitchers:

Some pitchers (Ugeth Urbina, Kent Mercker, Rick Augilera, etc...) that were mostly relievers appear in a starting rotation. This is because they pitched innings in the 100's and no other starter for their respective team pitched more than a few innings before a send down or trade. I did this so I could keep the players who played with that particular team the most active. Shouldn't be a big deal.

    The stances/motions

I tried to do my best via youtube and pictures to try and assign the most accurate batting stance or throwing motion to each player, but to be honest - It is very hard. I did my best to keep submariners accurate, but other than that it is just my educated guess.I realize some people may catch this and some not, but it is what it is. Please feel free to change any motions you do not like.

    Future Stars/Former Stars

There are some players in this set that were either right at the beginning of their careers or right at the end. Just because Andruw Jones was going to be a stud or Eddie Murray was a stud does NOT mean I overrated them. I still gave guys like Jones or Nomar their props on defense, but it was a year or two after 1996 until they found their hitting groove. The same goes for Eddie Murray or guys like Alan Trammell. They are still rated respectively, but they will play to their age.

    Not For Multiple Years

Only about halfway through the process did the potential ratings come to mind. I would edit a current player on the respective team and turn him into the player you have on this set. So people who are looking to make a 2+ run with these may be upset. Potential is completely random. The best way to enjoy these rosters is to use them for a one-and-done season, or just exhibition play.

    Numbers

For some reason some numbers switched after all of the creating. I went through to make sure every star, semi-star, and somewhat know player has the right number. Just don't panic if you see a no-name you may recognize with a number off a digit or two. Also guys like Cal Ripken Jr. have the wrong number only because it was retired.

    Lineups

Right now the lineups are not too bad, but for some reason I can get them to stick after I set them. Not really a big deal, but switch them to your liking.

    Pitch types

For the most part, I was able to find a few sites that listed some star pitchers best pitchers. For the other part, I was trying to make educated guesses on what each pitcher threw. I kept tabs on things like knuckleballers and the likes, but again, don't crucify me if you find something not to your liking.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

If everyone can keep the above topics in mind, I think they will find this an enjoyable set. Obviously if you pick hard enough I'm sure you can find a flaw.

I'll list some what I recommend to better enjoy the game:

    Sliders

I have been using Armor & Swords slider set. It is one of the best sets I have been able to find and I have used it for both my current franchise and 1996 gameplay. I believe this set will give you the best results and it can be found here:

    http://www.operationsports.com/forum...m-sliders.html

    Injuries

I strongly recommend turning injuries off for play. It may not be the most realistic, but it will make for a lot better experience with 25 man rosters.

    Use The Stadiums

Remembers, the Twins, Mets, Marlins and Yankees all have accurate vintage stadiums to choose. This definitely makes the game feel better when using one of those teams.

    Customize

This is all yours once you download it. Want Neagle on the Braves? Done.

Putting Burnitz with the Brewers? Go ahead.

Want to be dumb and send Griffey to the Yanks? Blasphemy, but do it!

    Just have fun guys.

I have enjoyed making these rosters because this is the time I remember most just really getting into baseball and really seeing a lot of super stars with their original/most remembered teams.

I truly do hope you all enjoy these as much as I will and please let me know if there are any corrections/issues you have and I will be happy to address them.

    Enjoy!

Great Work Sir! I would love to dive into these now but I have work in the morning. I cannot wait to play in the Dome with my Twins. It's even better now since the SCEA developers listened to me and fixed the baggie glitch that had been in the game for the past couple years. The only crappy thing is the Twins sucked every year besides 91, but I guess that just makes it more challenging.

I may have to play some exhibitions with the Rangers...They had a pretty good team (Pudge, Clark, Greer, Palmer, Juan)..pitching on the other hand..

Well I fell asleep waiting on these to post last night BUT I woke up around 2:00 this morning and thought, oh yeah, rosters! So I went ahead and DL'd to the Vita before going back to sleep so I'd have them today. I played about 4 innings this morning, CLE at SEA (me), and I'm already hooked. The first inning consisted of a couple doubles, a Griffey 2R homerun and 4 runs scored. I put my Vita to sleep so I can finish out the game during lunch today (4-1 SEA).

A couple things I noticed on Seattle - Griffey is throwing RH instead of LH on this set. I know it's a very easy thing to toggle to the wrong one, but thought I'd point that out so everyone can fix their roster.

Also, Randy Johnson is #53 in the set instead of his actual #51.

As I stated earlier, I'm hooked with this set and I'll more than likely be starting a franchise sometime this weekend with it. Thanks, baumy, for all the hard work you put into this.

haha thats weird i have him as 51 in mine. but whatever thats a minor minor minor fix

                EDIT:
could someone do me a huge favor and try and to a fantasy draft with this set? ive tried 5 times and all 5 times my PS3 has froze. just want to see if this is just me or everyone. im now thinking that it may be becasue there is no minor leaguers and not enough players for all 3 minor league teams.
but if someone could try and post what happenes that would be a big help

God, I just went and checked and you're right. It actually makes me sick I could miss those, although I did have Johnsons numbe set to 51. Thanks for pointing that out to me. Glad you're liking these man.

Not a problem. I'm sorry to hear you lost your faces because I know how tough it is to re-motivate after that. I really can't think of a reason for that. It could be an issue that would be worth asking Russell or 42, Knight, etc... about.

A 1990 would be great so I wish you all the best.

Going to download these when I get home from work....thanks for all the work you put into these baumy, I love classic seasons

I got a chuckle from what you said about Griffey.....I'm a Yankee fan but not ashamed to say the Kid was one of my favorite players ever to don a uniform....he hated the Yanks ever since Billy Martin threw him out of the clubhouse as a kid.....great going there Billy...it's no wonder he tormented us the way he did...we couldn't get him or Edgar martinez out in the 95 playoffs....

I always held out hope he would warm up to the Yankees one day and he'd wind up in NY as his career wound down but it wasn't to be....

I am going to have to fight the urge to add him to the club when I download your rosters lol

                            OH YEAH!!!!

I know what I am doing tonight.

I will no doubt do just a season mode of these rosters, turn off trades and injuries and play a full season.

Another thing I know I will end up doing is playing different games. Even though I may take the Braves or Blue Jays (as I am playing the Marlins in my current chise and have an 87 Yankees chise going in The Show 11) I will look at the daily match-ups and choose to play different games besides my own team.

When you do that you really get to have fun and play with all the different teams and take in the roster set.

Awesome work baumy. I am sure these are great.

These look great Baumy. I will say that I changed Shawn Green's stance to Generic 93. That was his from when he was on the cover of the game. Looks amazing though.
