Re: NCAA Football 13 Demo Is Out, Post Your Impressions Here

Played a little more, just not a fan as of now. Running is extremely easy. Triple option out've shotgun still confuses the defense. Ran an easy 40 yd TD with UO's QB because the safeties stayed in their backpedal well after I was past the LOS.

Every deep pass I throw has been short, even if I bullet and throw high to try to keep him in stride, and I can't user strafe anymore (if autostrafe is on the CPU does it, if its off it hasn't been letting me).
I ran a post against cover 2, WR ran past the FS, and the SS came up to stop the short pass. I let it go, led him so that he could still run under it. The FS that he blew past for easy 20 yards, just turned once the ball was in the air, tracked it and made a diving pick. Nice animation, but the phantom speed bursts seem to still be in the game.

I haven't noticed an super LB's, but I've ran quite a few comebacks that the CB's stuck on like glue and a few picked it off. One still broke on the ball before my WR did, even though he had started his turn and run animation. His break to it was the exact same break the WR's make when running the route.

Even with the QB evades, I have minimal time to pass. I played one game as Baylor and only passed and ran hurry up, And I was still sacked 8 times. A couple were my fault, but the majority was DT's pancaking/chucking my guards down and getting to me in under 2 seconds.

And my last gripes, same as most people. Game looks extremely bland. THe studio updates are annoying (I know its probably ramped up for the 3 min qs). I supersimmed defense in 1 game, Barkley threw the ball 43 times. In 3 min qs, that is atrocious.

I also find that motion blur makes the game look really bad and is greatly overdone. When it shows a player getting up and walking back to the huddle in a cutscene, there is no way he is moving fast enough that you need to have motion blur.

i was cool with the demo until i saw the team ratings, by far the worst ratings i have ever seen.. decent teams are rated 95 and above and a team like texas is 99, where as bama or ou is 97...i dont know if they did this to spite some fans... but most likely they did it so a lot of fans would be surprised and happy that their ratings are far above then what expected... honestly it will f up dynasty to an extent as well

Considering I am getting this game for 25 bucks on Amazon, I will gladly buy it. NCAA 12 was already pretty solid, and with the improvements to dynasty and gameplay (as long as superhuman DBs and LBs stay gone) I'm going to have a lot of fun in my OD with friends this year.

After playing i will not ne nuying NCAA 13.

It does nothing more for me than NCAA 12 did. I re-buy 12 at low price and just play that till Madden comes out..

          Gameplay - the same.

          Rece Davis updates - annoying.

          Motion Blur - Overdone.

          Dynasty Mode- 2 improvements.

          Heisman Challange - Stupid.

Demo - Thank you for saving me 45.00

I thought it was exactly the same as '12, but with studio updates and a new ticker. I went out and bought '12 used today and decided to skip this year's NCAA Football. I'm really sick of buying the same game for $60 each year and refuse to do it again. I very well may do the same with Madden, depending on what I think of the demo.

I'm one of those dudes who has bought both games new every year since Madden and Bill Walsh College Football started.

Same here bro.. i actully regret trading both of mine in about 3 weeks ago, thinkng Ncaa and Madden would be connected. But no Draft classes kills Ncaa 13 for me even more

I agree with the posters who said why not wait for this " With physics you can feel, Madden NFL 13 delivers revolutionary gameplay in the '013 edition of EA Sports' football franchise. Powered by the all-new Infinity Engine, true player impact and authentic momentum transfer ensure that no two plays ever look or feel the same. Madden NFL 13 revolutionizes the way sports video game career modes are played with Connected Careers—a completely new and fully connected universe defined by deep gameplay, unique storylines and social integration. The game continues to evolve the sport sim experience with cutting-edge Infinity Engine technology, revolutionary Connected Careers and a complete audio and visual overhaul that delivers best in class presentation." Except of course it will be NCAA 14.

Played it a bit more.. still feels like NCAA 12 or 12.5.

Reece Davis sounds meh. It almost never sounds natural, and I cringe on some of the stuff it is spliced together so badly.

The new passing is different, but it isn't a gamechanger maybe with the Madden QB ratings it would be.

Super linebackers and psychic dbs aren't around as often anymore, but that is hardly enough for me to spend money on.

The stadium sounds louder, but the atmosphere is still meh.

Not too impressed, personally and Heisman mode just makes me angry every time I think about it when compared to what Madden got.

I agree that ratings are grossly inflated and have been trending that way for a while, but it may be a bit of a blessing in some ways. It'll open up online a little bit since there are more teams that people will play rated up at the top.

For dynasty I'll be using named/rerated rosters anyway so that isn't so bad.

Yes I'd rather have more differentiation and accuracy in ratings (as in no team above about a 90 out of box) but there are a few positives.

This demo so far runs a lot smoother than 12 IMO. And I guess I'm in the minority, but I am still seeing some super LB's. I first saw them while playing Bama vs LSU so I thought "Ok maybe if I play K State and Baylor I won't see them as often." Well I still saw some. I was Baylor and my slot receiver was running a post down the field. Before I snapped the ball I saw a LB was covering him so I thought he could get open. The D called man coverage and the LB ran stride for stride with the WR the whole time but the WR had a little separation coming off his break from the post route. I led the receiver when I threw it and it looked like there was no way the LB could even touch it. It looked like the only person that was gonna catch it was my WR. Guessed wrong. The LB gets a magical boost and picks the ball off without even turning his head to see where the ball was.

Besides the common CPU option mishap and the super LB's, this game really isn't that bad. Yes the QB's completion % needs to be fixed and maybe Rece's voice, but this isn't too bad. There will never be a perfect game that comes out so we have to sometimes live with what we have.

By the way, I can't see the ESPN ticker on the very bottom when I play the demo. Anyone else have this problem?

A couple of things i noticed after a few games

Line play didnt look better but it seemed better, i did not see a ton of pancakes. also when Olinemen get beat on a pass rush they actually make an attempt to get back in the play which makes moving in the pocket more realistic

Its very cool to see WRs waving their hands for the ball when they are open during a scramble

Passing seems a bit too easy, this might be because i was using RG3 and Zack Mettenburger, but they could use a bit more inaccuracy.

Running seemed pretty good but i didnt run much to test out the passing game. AI running seems vastly improved.

The bullet time mechanic will take some getting used to. On several occasions during a pass i threw into coverage because i didnt fully assess how much space my WR had for real time movement.

Pulling gaurds are a little better but it may be placebo affect.

Momentum is slighty present which is great.

One really cool thing i noticed in Heisman mode is that coaches will pull back on your "trust" if you screw up. I threw a redzone TD and after that i was not allowed to pick any other plays except the ones given to me. Cool.

Overall, i am definitely buying day one.

To be honest, this demo is the game we should have had with ncaa 12. I did like some aspects of the demo, it played smoother, overall it just felt a little more polished then last year. But it just felt like I was playing a game that is outdated. The engine is at its limit, the presentation is pathetic for a game made in 2012. No highlights, same intros same monotone commentary. Theyre touting better passing mechanics when nfl 2k5 had maximum passing. This game is sorely lacking. Is it worth getting even at $45? No. I saw ncaa12 for $16 on amazon, I think someone would be better off getting 12. I just didnt see enough there to give away money. Most people will get bored with it quickly or when madden comes out.

                            Pros: espn ticker is nice
the in studio updates are nice
                            smoother gameplay

Cons: Nothing really groundbreaking or new
                            Rece Davis
                            still has some psy db's
                            commentary
                            boring

I played a few games last night and I must be playing a different demo than the last 7 pages of people here have been. It MOST DEFINITELY DOES NOT play like NCAA '12 did imo. It might look similar, but it's not the same game. The DEMO is more polished, the players feel like they actually have weight to them and seem smarter on the field. I had a broken HB Draw last night where the hole closed up, I turned to the other side of the field, jumped over a fallen defender, actually had a WR block for me, then ran it 15 yards into the endzone. The play actually made me say "wow, that was sweet" out loud. That didn't happen in '12. If a hole closed up on a Draw, then there were 5 defenders in the backfield ready to destroy you.

It doesn't feel like NCAA 12.5 to me, not even 12.75 because I don't think even 5 patches could have gotten 12 to play like this. There are just too many different things going on that make it feel like an entirely new game. I'm going to have a ton of fun playing it this year.
