Same here. The more I read and think about it, this is a feature that might blow up in their face. It's the reason than "franchise is dead" and that's a quote from Josh Looman.
I'm really getting worried about the future of Madden. It's been on thin is for awhile but the options they have removed might just send them into the water.GT: Herkyalert

Re: Madden NFL 13 Connected Careers Mode Preview
Madden will be fine, Madden 13 will outsell any Madden in the past 3 years. They are just getting started with this new development team and once people get their hands on Connected Careers I think they will be happy to give a few features for the benefit of the new ones.Same here. Re: Madden NFL 13 Connected Careers Mode Preview
As a coach it's just like the old offline Franchise except for being able to play as other teams. Josh Looman said this last week, playing as a coach is the same as the old offline franchise minus fantasy draft and playing as other teams. The reason you can't do those two things any more is because those are not realistic features and never should have been a part of Franchise to begin with.So I just can't take a team anyone and play multiple franchises? I have to create a coach or player to do this?
Are the hiring and firing of your staff gone?
I just want the previous way where I can play with a team as long as I want and can control all aspects of franchise.Comment

Yeah, but as a coach you are able to leave a team and coach a different team that has an opening. As a coach it's just like the old offline Franchise except for being able to play as other teams. Re: Madden NFL 13 Connected Careers Mode Preview
Frankly I don't care at all if they were realistic. Fantasy drafts were fun and playing other matchups was a good way to get some variety. If we are going to start losing fun features for the sake of realism Madden is headed down a dark road.As a coach it's just like the old offline Franchise except for being able to play as other teams. Re: Madden NFL 13 Connected Careers Mode Preview
So let me get this straight. There's no more Franchise mode where I can control everything from Teams to Equipment, etc? Wow....
EA is force-feeding us a new Madden without these features? I think the reality is that EA has run out of ideas to implement every year to Madden.
I think I'm done with Madden. Madden 12 was great in offline franchise, heck, I'm still doing my Franchise.
So in the main menu, the "player management'' menu will be gone? Can't even go in and edit players?
This makes no sense whatsoever

Re: Madden NFL 13 Connected Careers Mode Preview
Having used this site for a while now for nhl/madden/nba and ncaa and now just reading through this entire post I have decided to register.
First off, I will most likely be buying madden this year as I do every year. It's unfortunate but its what I do.
I like the way ccm is shaping up as long as it is as advertised. Although I do have some input and maybe a question or two.
I am so glad they finally have done away with potential! I'm just hoping they scale xp and it's not impossible trying to improve players. I, myself love being able to pick and choose which players to upgrade without having to pad stats. Although I do hope stats have a small impact on player progression.
Since the draft classes are being randomly generated with no importing from ncaa and no editing are we going to have put up with reused names like a Dontarius Roethlisberger or something else equally annoying? In cases like these and when players came out of the draft looking stupid equipment wise is the only time I edited them.
And lastly, (making this first post count) I don't think it's right that EA doesn't let someone have two different users on the same console for an offline franchise. Seems like a way for them to make people buy online passes assuming they are still going to do that next year. (Doesn't affect me much, but reading through I saw that it seemed to affect a few)
Sorry for the short story. But hello everyone!Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Connected Careers Mode Preview
Of course, but you're arguing something slightly different. I'm not saying performance and usage shouldn't have an impact but rather that predetermining parameters of improvement and peak ability ensures greater control over talent across all rosters. The old system of allowing pure on-field performance to dictate improvement can work in theory but I don't think it's been done to satisfaction in a game. Canned progression, for lack of a better way to put it, has been proven to be effective in many text-based sims.I guess we'll agree to disagree. I don't feel that having an individual player progress at largely the same rate in everyone's franchise regardless of all the different factors that should play a part in progression is realistic at all, which is the system we were stuck with previously.
Some guys improve, other stagnate, no matter their ability on draft day and the stats they put up. Especially so in football where more than other sports the system they're in and team around them can make some guys produce sexier numbers than their skill level really should allow. Hiding potential and eliminating overall rating would have gone a long way to getting the X player is absolutely better than Y player thing out of a lot of people's heads.Comment

I think I agree with what you're talking about in essence, but my point initially was that the progression method for M13 is more realistic than the automatic method of the past few releases.
What you're talking about is not what was in the game so that's a separate discussion, though I do agree that overall rating should be hidden. Although I think TSOs is a decent alternative to what we're used toComment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Connected Careers Mode Preview
Some of you on here talk about realism and how certain features are or are not realistic. But what you are missing is the fact that this is a VIDEO GAME, to be played for fun. When I play a video game, I want to be able to do things that are not in real life. So saying "playing as two franchises" or "editing players" is not realistic, thats the point! It's definitely more fun to do a fantasy draft, play as multiple teams and edit players.
The developers are basically taking a dump on the people who like to play offline franchises. The only reason I, as well as many others, buy sports games is to play with friends. I only buy Madden, NCAA, 2k and The Show is to play the "franchise" mode with a friend. Taking out the possibility to play a franchise with multiple people offline is a joke. And I don't want to hear "well you can play online, blah, blah, blah" because online is not the same. And not being able to import draft classes is going to make NCAA a whole lot less enjoyable. EA is going to hurt themselves with that, because a lot of people only buy NCAA for that reason.
I don't want to seem like I'm bashing this connected careers stuff, a lot of it sounds really cool, but it needs to be retuned before release. And please don't say wait till Madden 14 because you sound ridiculous.Browns, Indians, Cavs, Buckeyes

Re: Madden NFL 13 Connected Careers Mode Preview
I read some Q&A's, read random pages on this thread...
Salary Cap is in CCM and does increase each year, that is good and all, but I wanted to know does it utilize the 'new' Rookie Pay Scale, or will top drafted players still suck up loads of cap space?
EDIT: I can't watch video, no sound
- in case it was answered in a video
