Turned me off to both NCAA and Madden as far as a purchase from EA. May pick it up months after, used. If these features are put back in next year, I'll be back on board.

Uh, some people like to share a franchise with their siblings/kids/cousins/other relatives, so taking away that feature could really hurt.
The gameplay additions themselves don't fix the core Issues:
- O-line/D-line (Footwork, ******** Blocking AI, Sucking into a Block)
- WR/DB (Passive WRs, DB's who will zoom quickly/go through or slide around a WR to make a play)
- Awful Footplanting
- Sliding
- Bad AI (Zone defense when a QB is running, CPU QB running wildly even when a guy is open, the CPU not adjusting to a certain defense, receivers often don't help extend the play.)
- Field proportions (Play Cover 2 against the Saints, and count how many comeback routes go out of bounds.)
- Bad Running Animations
- Bad Throwing Motions
- Bad Ball physics
Now,we also have a lack of emotion with the commentary, and a lot of the commentary I've seen in the E3 videos are not great most of the time.
Along with that, the plaer models are looking worse than ever in their own ways, whether it's the jersey numbers being TOO large, the hair looking off/like paper, the constant twitching and crazy movement after the play (some of that could be tuned, but the player cutscenes don't look good), the players not looking anything like themselves (Ryan Fitzpatrick, I feel you Bills fan), or Madden not even making the equipment right (Look at the "Primetime Football" cutscenes when the Quarterback folds his arms, then you'll see the shoulder pads... UGH!)
There's probably more, but these are some bad issues that need to be fixed.

I don't want this to come off the wrong way. I am also not talking about everyone, but some of you guys are sounding very stubborn!
Some of you sound like your mom always allowed you to eat candy with your dinner and then one day she gave you green beans. Then all hell broke loose because it was different than what you were use to.

I am also the same person that has talked mad **** about EA football for years. I know several of the regulars around here will know this, but don't think I am some blind EA supporter. I just appreciate them trying some new things! Not saying I agree with the loss of every feature but I can live with the loss for a year or so for them to be reimplemented if the game plays better from here on forward!Last edited by Phobia; 06-13-2012, 03:47 PM.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
Does not turn me off, all I care about is online ranked matches, and i'm ok with waiting to EA to release rosters. Online Franchises are a waste of time because all parties do not participate all the time and who the heck has to to control all 32 teams!Comment

We have complained for years the game has remained the same. This year they made some big changes, granted some stuff was loss but they really tried to innovate a new feature is how it comes off to me. I don't understand the complaints of OH NO ITS NOT THE SAME GAME!

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
I'm not turned off... I wanted a way to make sure my players would progress as I saw fit and the XP is a decent way to do it... at least 'in theory' for now.
As far as the editing of players... meh. I really never did anything with that besides my players ratings when they didn't progress well with good production. (and that is being fixed with XP)
Color me satisfied.Comment

Has the 'closed' nature of Connected Careers turned you away and/or cooled your enthusiasm about Madden NFL 13?
Not at all. Personally, I have never controlled all 32 teams in a franchise because I like to focus on one team and think it's interesting to see what happens in free agency with the CPU. This year, you can progress players anyway you want, so editing is all but useless. I'm slightly disappointed that we can't play/watch any other games in the Connected Career that we don't control, but it doesn't make me hate the mode,\.Ravens: In Ozzie We Trust

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
Man I can't believe EA has pushed me out the door like this, this year.....
Sadly Yes
We've had and loved some of these features for Years.....and a few more that we fought long and hard for.....They would have enabled me to truly love the additions they made
Now they're just throwing them aside like a chewing gum wrapper
And I think Ive just reached a point where Im tired of the utter Bull SH** with them always dividing the community and making segments pay a price every other year
Other Sports Franchises don't constantly do this with their Fanbases.... don't let anyone tell you different....This is not a Sports Genre Problem....IT IS A MADDEN PROBLEM
Moving Forward....Why should anyone believe these features will be quickly added back in????
From all the tweets,PodCasts, and insights from GameChangers whose talked about their Design Decisions.......IMO it seems like there will be more Restrictions on these features getting back into the game then ever
Book of Connected Careers Restrictions
I think we're going to get an endless barrage of
"We didn't have time for it this year"
"Well we'd like to do that in the future but"
"Look at what else we did"
year...after...year...after...year
And if I have the wrong impression then Looman or whoever needs to come forward an tell us different.....Like how they apologized for the audio last year and told us it was going to be a major priority for them
Stop laughing it off and blocking people on your twitter account who are concerned with these omissions
And as for 13 I pray whats in there works better then any other Sports Game Franchise Mode Ive ever seen and that your typical EA shenanigans of Bugs aren't running rampart...Lets just say I have my doubts
Otherwise the guys who can still enjoy the game are going to get mad too, making everybody feel screwedHere We Go Steelers!!! Here We Go!!!
My CFB Teams: Marshall..WVU-Go Herd/Eeers!!!

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
I guess I'm one of the oddballs, I'm not dissapointed in the least, as a strictly offline player, I'm actually encouraged that this means that they will pay more attention to the AI logic, gameplay and ratings so that mass editing is not needed. I understand the dissapointment and more options are better than not enough but if the gameplay is great and rating actually mean something, it will somewhat justify why they did what they did. I'm sure it will return next year, it's Madden after all.Comment

Just take a trip over to the editing thread. Other then like 3-5 of the same people posting (over and over defending this decision), most everyone else is at least pretty let down by this. A few didn't really care, but they at least admitted they felt bad for the others and understood how it could be a big deal for some, because they to had features important to them that have been removed over the years. The idea of I don't like so everyone stop complaining is what I consider rude and not considerate.
For the record, nobody knows if the new rtp is going to be a improvement. Nobody knows if CCM will in fact be better then franchise. What we know is EA says it will be and that a lot of features that we fought for here on OS the past few years have now been removed. How does one not feel a little cheated here? What exactly is there to defend? You like rtp, and tweets, we get it and that is great. Now how about a little understanding to the people who like editing, creating rosters, adjusting abilities for realistic play, changes numbers, creating rookies, etc......
Sorry, I'm trying to look at it from both sides, but I really do have to agree with the 75-85% of the people here who are upset at EA's decision on this. It is their right to be upset, and if they are expected to just accept it, think again. Not even the way America was built to be!
I'll be posting on this issue until it is restored, period. Don't like it? Just hit the ignore post button on me. I'm cool with that.Last edited by wheelman990; 06-13-2012, 04:29 PM.Comment
