Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
In a way, yes. The biggest thing, for me, is the arogance about the changes that have been made. Saying that "franchise is dead" and that change is good.
All the negative response from fans is just being thrown to the side and they are telling us that change is good no matter what. With EA past history of broken modes and bugs, CC better be the best mode of all sports games.
I just don't see how you can introduce something as promising as RTP and then just damper all the excitement about it with all these features being taken out.
Madden 13 was a first day buy for me last week, but now Im gonna hold off and see the reviews first. Crazy how much things can change in just a weeks time. smhCleveland Browns Football

None of these have anything to do with what was lost. They would be there regardless of the long list of things lost.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
Sorry you feel that way. Personally I think removing editing features completely out of the game was a very poor move by EA. I can easily see why so many are upset here. Just because you do not care about editing much(and you have made that point over, and over, and over) doesn't mean some people can't feel it ruined the game and complain. After all, what other NFL game are they going to buy?
Just take a trip over to the editing thread. Other then like 3-5 of the same people posting (over and over defending this decision), most everyone else is at least pretty let down by this. A few didn't really care, but they at least admitted they felt bad for the others and understood how it could be a big deal for some, because they to had features important to them that have been removed over the years.
For the record, nobody knows if the new rtp is going to be a improvement. Nobody knows if CCM will in fact be better then franchise. What we know is EA says it will be and that a lot of features that we fought for here on OS the past few years have now been removed. How does one not feel a little cheated here? What exactly is there to defend? You like rtp, and tweets, we get it and that is great. Now how about a little understanding to the people who like editing, creating rosters, adjusting abilities for realistic play, changes numbers, creating rookies, etc......
Sorry, I'm trying to look at it from both sides, but I really do have to agree with the 75-85% of the people here who are upset at EA's decision on this. It is their right to be upset, and if they are expected to just accept it, think again. Not even the way America was built to be!
I'll be posting on this issue until it is restored, period. Don't like it? Just hit the ignore post button on me. I'm cool with that.
What I don't understand is the people complaining about the game "changing". There have been a number of people upset that things are different. This makes no sense to me when many of us around here have complained it is "ALWAYS THE SAME GAME WITH 1 NEW FEATURE AND A ROSTER UPDATE" Then we get a year where they dropped a bunch of new stuff, really seem to try and turn the game around but that gets completely over shadowed.
I think it is the case of "I want my cake and eat it too". We can't have everything granted, I agree the removal of features is horrible and should not happen. But to complain the game remains the same and then when it changes to complain about that............come on!!Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
You, me, no one has a slight clue what connect careers did to prevent editing. Those above listed features don't have anything to do with what was removed you are completely correct. It is what makes me want to buy it finally, it appears many on field problems have been addressed.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
Because some of us don't believe it's been changed for the better Phobia and also some of us weren't asking for massive changes in the first place. It's convenient to say that those who are unhappy now were the same people asking for a change like this, but it's just not trueComment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
I don't really care at all, no player editing is a bit **** but hasn't turned me away. Why does it matter that much that you don't get to play other fixtures?
I think its just stupid that people would decide to not buy the game because of this, I would even call it pathetic.

I also understand some of you don't believe its been changed for the better. But you are also the same people that have not played it yet, just like I haven't.
Basically my point is when you liked what you had and I was complaining the on field sucked.....people would say "its just a game enjoy it". Then they fix on field stuff (it appears) and I like what i see but features have been removed so those people who liked it before are now the ones complaining.Last edited by Phobia; 06-13-2012, 04:43 PM.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
The Pass Trajectories are good, but they won't make up for the Passive Receivers, and the sliding/flying Safeties/Corners/LB's who can make more unrealistic plays pending on the defense.
The Commentary has no emotion.
In fact, I've also seen vids with suction tackling. Sure that will be tuned, hopefully) but the post play and cutscenes look bad.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
I don't want this to come off the wrong way. I am also not talking about everyone, but some of you guys are sounding very stubborn!
Some of you sound like your mom always allowed you to eat candy with your dinner and then one day she gave you green beans. Then all hell broke loose because it was different than what you were use to.
Statements like this
We have complained for years the game has remained the same. This year they made some big changes, granted some stuff was loss but they really tried to innovate a new feature is how it comes off to me. I don't understand the complaints of OH NO ITS NOT THE SAME GAME!
I am also the same person that has talked mad **** about EA football for years. I know several of the regulars around here will know this, but don't think I am some blind EA supporter. I just appreciate them trying some new things! Not saying I agree with the loss of every feature but I can live with the loss for a year or so for them to be reimplemented if the game plays better from here on forward!Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
What I think is pathetic is that people complain about the gameplay for Madden for such a long time, then this year they finally make some huge strides with the gameplay including real physics, which if done right has the potenial to be a game changer. Then because of a lack of some failry minor things decide they won't buy the game at all.

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
No wheel you are misconstruing my points. I have stated and defended people such as SteelerSpartan and Aholbert for being pissed about the stuff being removed. I agree it is not a good move.(I have stated plenty of times in several threads now, I support those guys on that stance)

I was excited about Madden 13. This editing thing really bumped me back to a used or thanksgiving sale ($29.99) type buy.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
No, you tell me. RTP is tackling based for the most part. So that won't affect O-line/D-line, WR/DB, AI, Player Models.

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
The problem isn't that the game isn't the same, it's that they haven't added some of the most basic parts of an NFL team before doing so. I was extremely excited until the list of can'ts started coming out. Position changes, number changes, accessory changes. None of these things should break the game yet are very basic parts of the NFL. Every team has to change player positions. And go in a locker room and ask about numbers and accessories, real players care about these things for themselves so why shouldn't I. That is how I enjoy the game. It's fine that you don't need to have options, but I do. Madden is really the only thing I do in my free time year round. Now I'm without that enjoyment for at least a year, so it matters to me.
The MAJOR part of the game for me is the PLAYING part. Calling plays, moving my players around, making tackles, scoring TDs, sacks, etc. If that is improved I can live without the editing for a year or soComment
