Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
What may be fairly minor to you may not be to someone else. Despite the fact that I can't play offline franchise with my friends I am VERY excited for this game.Woah what? Sounds like I'm not understanding this fixture thing, I haven't played a Madden in a long time.
What I think is pathetic is that people complain about the gameplay for Madden for such a long time, then this year they finally make some huge strides with the gameplay including real physics, which if done right has the potenial to be a game changer. Then because of a lack of some failry minor things decide they won't buy the game at all.Comment

I'm not sure what you mean by fixture. But I don't think many people are really complaining about the gameplay stuff is more the off field control aspects over your roster and how you play franchise or CC. They've removed a lot of basic stuff that isn't minor at all to some people like said family that won't be able to play a career with each other on one console anymoreWoah what? Sounds like I'm not understanding this fixture thing, I haven't played a Madden in a long time.

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
if the game was made for the ps3 only that might have been an option. but not being able to use blu-ray for xbox makes that pretty much impossible. the disc space just isnt there.I do like the idea of something fresh and new, and ccm might be awesome. The only thing I wish EA would have done is keep the old franchise mode, or even just a season mode with all old options(editing) as a option too. Then once they get those features back in ccm, get rid of season unless people are still asking for it(at that point, they prob wouldn't care cause all their features are present).
I was excited about Madden 13. This editing thing really bumped me back to a used or thanksgiving sale ($29.99) type buy.Comment

I mean the ability to play other games of the schedule, we call it a fixture here. I'm clearly misunderstanding this part of it, what exactly is it?I'm not sure what you mean by fixture. 150% agree Wheel. I said this yesterday it should of been held back till it was 100% working like it should. But that didn't happen is my point I guessI do like the idea of something fresh and new, and ccm might be awesome. Everyone is different and everyone will rate features differently. I think calling people "stupid" and "pathetic" for deciding not to buy a video game that has taken away their favorite features is unfair. Also it's not just the player editing we have lost a lot of features. Personally, I am most upset about the loss of couch co-op and multiple team control in CC.I don't really care at all, no player editing is a bit **** but hasn't turned me away. Why does it matter that much that you don't get to play other fixtures?
I think its just stupid that people would decide to not buy the game because of this, I would even call it pathetic.
This pretty much ruins the game for people who share consoles and run franchises together. Couch co-op in Franchise mode is something I have loved using for the last 10+ years and I have no idea why it's gone. When I played Franchise mode on my own I'd get a few years in and get bored, but when I was playing Franchise mode locally we'd get several years into a Franchise. For me it's much more enjoyable to play locally with friends than it is to play alone or online, but that's just my opinion.
I still haven't decided what I'll do in August. Right now I'd say there is a good chance I'll pick up Madden 13 because some of the new features look enjoyable, but if continue to hear about more and more features being removed I could change my mind.Comment

Yeah this is fair enough, I clearly misunderstand what this was. Like I said I haven't played Madden in a long time and living in Northern Ireland doesn't exaclty have anyone do co-op with, so that's why I didn't really understand.Everyone is different and everyone will rate features differently. I think calling people "stupid" and "pathetic" for deciding not to buy a video game that has taken away their favorite features is unfair. Yeah I was right, but what I didn't understand was that this meant you could play co-op with people or whatever.you can only play as the team or player you choose when you start the CC

I'm certainly not happy about the news. It's more about how I handle incoming rookies from future drafts. I liked the fact I can edit names, jersey numbers, and schools to add character to teams and players. With no NCAA draft classes, the inability to edit is even more disabling as a player. I use the edit function to edit ratings too, if I feel like a player that was drafted is too high ... or too low.
I am very curious about how they are going to approach the draft with this limitation. I suppose they will have generic names and looks about them and the league will be populated with clones after about 7 years in the franchise.
I love the customization ability of my players in NCAA. I'll hours just editing freshman and molding a "team".Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
it doesnt turn me totally away but it does suck...i just hope the powers that be are reading and listening to this board and fix this for next year if not give us some options back this year via patch ... i hope they are not that dense or arrogant that they are not going to give us these options back in future titles because if that is the case...i WILL be totally turned OFF from this games future releasesIt's not the dog in the fight, it's the fight in the dog...XBL GT: Godz HittmanComment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
That's great that it won't matter to you, but why minimize it's importants to me? How my players look on the field is part of game play to me, and position changes is a most basic part of football.See I just can't wrap my head around this. You are welcome to feel the way you do. Trust me I sincerely feel that way, but to me this is just minor.
The MAJOR part of the game for me is the PLAYING part. Calling plays, moving my players around, making tackles, scoring TDs, sacks, etc. If that is improved I can live without the editing for a year or so
As far as game play goes, the part I'm most curious about is if the CPU is smarter than they have been in the past. Do they utilize their weapons? If they have a stud receiver do they try to get him the ball all game. Vice versa, if I have a stud, do they focus their defense on him? If I run a slant all day will adjust to try and stop it? These are the real game play issues to me, even more than physics.Comment
