EA does it again, give them what they want and take away something they had. This movement to online play for everything is really getting old. Now my next door neighbor has to buy a 360 and get xbox live just to play me. It is all about the dollars, because offline co-op will be back next year and guess what another Madden purchase. What ever happened to making a game so good you could not help, but get it? This could have been "THE MADDEN" easily, but realistically they don't want to give you that so you can get Madden again next year. Next years selling point "now you can play co-op with friends"; thanks a lot EA. NBA 2k11 was outrageous, but just because you expect so much, most people probably went out and got 2k12. It may be debatable which was better, but I know everyone has an eye out to see what is up with 2k13. Nonetheless, looks like it is going to be a NCAA year now. At least I can play with my friends around the way.

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
So do you know the tweets he is getting? Do you know if he is blocking people just because they were being rude? See your assuming that they were rude when people have said they asked simple questions and got blocked for no reason. I'm sorry but Josh's "It's My way or the highway attitude" is going to turn people away and make them feel disrespected. So you know the saying treat people the way you want to be treated, well Josh is being rude to people so guess what, he wants to be rude, then they will be rude to him.
Josh can't have it both ways and that's like treating someone so bad and when they start treating you the same way, you get upset at them when the whole time you were doing to them what they did to you. Right now Josh is treating the customers so bad and being rude that when customers starting doing what he is doing to them, he is getting upset, believes he is in the right(not realizing he is being rude back to them) and blocking them.
Things like that will get you blocked.
People also ask him why stuff didn't make it in but refuse to accept any answer other than "It will be in M13".Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
I can't tell you how many cases of beer were put away between friends and I over some games of virtual football. It's a real shame that they're clipping the wings of franchise players in Connected Careers, a feature that, otherwise, sounds like it's the God-send we [Head Coach players] have been asking for for years. The Last of Us is the Citizen Kane of video-games. It is better than every game that has ever come before it, and is the new benchmark for all games to follow. It is nothing short of a work of art.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
The main reason I'm not deterred by what is being left out of CC is that it is obvious that there is a plan to make something that will be truly amazing. If I have to go a year without editing players or having a fantasy draft in order to have the best career mode in sports gaming then I will happily take that sacrifice.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
Yep it has. I have been buyng madden since 93 and 94 was the first year they had the season mode where you could play every game in a season.
Now if editing rosters was ONLY locked out I could live with that for this year if I could control 32 teams and play as many game as I like, but seeing all 3 of those options were locked and add on top of that no import draft cass co op etc that did it for me and it will be my first time ever not buying madden. since i have been playing it back in 1992
it aint worth the 100 dollars (yes games cost that much here) Id be bored after playing the same division teams 8 times a season with the same roster after 1 week.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
Nope none of that affects me. Going to be one of the best years for Madden for me. Plenty of things I am really excited about, most of which is Franchise CC related.....and.....of course the gameplay improvements!!
I barely have time in my schedule to get through couple seasons playing as ONE team. I would never make it through 1 season if I played the other teams games also. I am like Dale, I see the complaints but don't understand how those would equal a NO BUY with all the other great inclusions.
For example, you mention the 32 play in OF that WE asked for. I don't play OF, nor do I have any interest in it, so you aren't speaking for all of us. I would much rather have the ability to edit rosters than have anything online-related, but at the same time I'm not going to try to devalue what other consumers think is important, because it's different from what I like.
People act like just the ability to add multi-colored visors was removed; the things removed were core aspects that were important to a lot of Madden's past consumers. I'm still confused as to how something can be so great, that removes many aspects that were in previous games, going years back.
That'd be like saying the new Xbox 3 will be revolutionary because of the ability to watch different sports packages, new voice commands or whatever else is new, but we've removed the ability to use Netflix, YouTube, or be backwards compatible for previous Xbox games.
I don't play online in any capacity whatsoever, and I only played SS in the past to kill time or in between franchise games. The whole, twitter feeds, CCM, whatever, doesn't entice me whatsoever, but good for those that are happy.
But please, stop with subtle insults towards people who, heaven forbid, care more about controlling all 32 teams so MJD doesn't get traded for a bag of peanuts or making sure a new addition to a roster isn't wearing a retired number, etc.
-----
I also like how Madden 13 bragged about adding all this new equipment that we can't even use on rosters, yet, NCAA, who still offers the ability to fully edit rosters, didn't add anything new.

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
The entire thing is a matter of opinion. Everybody puts different weight on certain things. What is HUGE to one person means nothing to another person and vice versa. You take something away and the people that really like it are going to be angry and the people that don't care for it are going to be indifferent.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
Just because the so-called list of 'improvements/additions' is longer than the negatives, doesn't necessarily mean they outweigh them or outweigh them enough to forget the omissions. I don't know what's so difficult for people to understand that what one may like or feel are worthy enough improvements that outweigh the negatives may not be the same sentiments as everyone else.

Uhh...yeah, in YOUR opinion. In YOUR opinion, it was much bigger, but I'm sure you can see, that's not the opinion of everyone, and it doesn't mean our 'panties are in a wad'.

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
Ok, so it seems we are split. The online folks seem to be thinking this isn't a big deal and don't know why people are upset, specifically the ones who only play offline and don't play Madden online. Let me ask you online players something. How many of you "commissioners" have came here and asked for more control over your league? How many times have you said, "I wish I had control over so and so" and "I wish EA would give us the ability to kick out cheesers from our league". See if you answer yes to both than your asking for the same thing us offline users want, MORE USER CONTROL.
Just because your online and don't play offline doesn't mean that when more control is taken away from offline users that "it's not a big deal" and that we are "whining". Well it's a big deal to us offline players. You think offline players cared that Online Franchise didn't have the same features as offline? Nope, because offline players had the same attitude toward online folks that you online players now have toward offline players, "It's not a big deal and stop whining, and there will always be cheesers".
So again, what makes it different when you online players ask for more user control in Online Franchise compared to when offline players ask for more user control in Offline Franchise?Last edited by goravens2052; 06-14-2012, 01:35 AM.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
I understand why many guys are upset and I think you all have a right to be. This is a place for everyone to voice their opinion. However, just because there are people who are satisfied with the game and are excited to play CC doesn't mean we should be getting bashed either. For years this forum has been very negative, its good to see that there is at least some positive vibe around here. I think this game finally deserves some credit.Last edited by johnnyg713; 06-14-2012, 01:47 AM.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
Well I cannot speak on behalf of roster makers since I dont use edited rosters in terms of ratings. I use what the game comes with but equipment is terrible in these rosters and I am willing to overlook roster editing for equipment if they allowed me to control my season.
Not being able to play other games on the schedule is a horrible decision and game breaking to ME
having friends come over and run a league of a few heads is not possible when it has always been.
We play to what the NFL is offering and EA wants us to play fantasy football with fake rookies and current players on other teams in future years.
That to me is a huge slap in the face for their dedicated customers
A lot of people in this thread seem to be complaining just to complain.Comment
