I've always been a Lions fan (even during the dark times), in large part because they are the local team. I grew up watching Barry Sanders as a kid and he is IMO the best HB ever.Comment

Re: Your Favorite NFL team
Houston Texans. I never really had a true football team to call my own. Used to root for the 49ers when I was younger but it didn't stick. That was more of a regional thing.
When the Texans were announced I thought I would get in on the ground floor of a new franchise, I liked the colors, logos, etc. I love Texas so that's a no-brainer. I decided to give it a shot and follow.
When it became apparent that David Carr was going to be the #1 pick, as a former Fresno resident I was absolutely thrilled and it just sorta cemented things.
10 years later, Carr was a bust, and I'm a Texans fan for life.Comment

Bengals. I was born after the Bengals 2 Super Bowl appearances though, so I have suffered through them sucking for most of my life. The future is looking a lot better though.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

The Bills are my team. I first started really paying attention to the NFL in '89 just as the Bills were beginning to dominate the league so I caught on at the perfect timeMember of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Chicago Bears; I was born into it. Everybody always asks me if I'm from (or my family) is from Chicago, but that's not the case. My great-grandfather lived in the high desert of Oregon (SE) and liked to listen to football games on the radio. The only teams that were every broadcasted were the Bears & Packers. He picked the Bears and from then on the family has been full of Bears fans. We even had a family reunion in 2005 at Soldier Field for a Bears-Vikings game.Chicago Bears

MLS: Portland Timbers

Re: Your Favorite NFL team
San Francisco 49ers
Starting following NFL in '87 when I was 8 years old. Loved their style of play and the fact that they won the Super Bowl 2 of the first 3 years I watch didn't hurtI am a West Coast Offense fanatic. I pretty much caught the middle of the dynasty run, nothing was as exciting to me as getting geared up for a Niners-Cowboys game in the early-mid 90s. Now the '03-'10 period was rough, but it never took the shine off NFC title runs and Super Bowls that preceded it. Last year was a breathe of fresh air and I hope a start to something special.
