Re: What Madden NFL 13 Connected Careers Gives, Takes Away and Might Have (Kotaku)
I apologize but in 2012 Editing is a core option for a sports game at this point. The first game I remember edit in was NBA live 98 you could edit players in both the season and MM. Since that game I have never played a full season/Franchise without editing player in some fashion since because I don't agree with game maker’s player ratings. Some people like Barry others like Emmitt. I can only remember 1 game that did not have any editing NBA live 2002 for PS1 When I noticed I took it out my console and put it in it's case and have never touched it since. If they don't know how to code editing in 2012 they should not make games. And to consider the arrogance of them telling us this is what you player should be, "we will decide that for you now give us your money."
If CCM can't take any user customization it is way too fragile to taken out of beta stage. If this is the case this mode is broken and should not replace the heart and soul of Madden. This is about money and control. The goal here it to implement so many sparkling features in this game that we don't notice that we have no control over anything at all in M13 and that the whole game has been prescripted. They were taken out becuase none of our customizations benefit EA directly in the short term they want us to be forced to come to them for updates and they want us to be online when playing. Decisions like this get people, crews, whole departments fired and companies become afterthoughts because they ignored there fan bases wishes.
Gotcha...its really tough to pick one or two things you know because so much was removed. I guess that if full editing and some form of multi player franchise was patched in to CCM it would really ease the tension.
I doubt those thing can be "patched" particularly the multiplayer functions. Considering this game has not even been sold and we are hoping for patches to make it playable is not a good sign.Last edited by 1D4ever; 06-14-2012, 11:46 PM.Comment

Re: What Madden NFL 13 Connected Careers Gives, Takes Away and Might Have (Kotaku)
What kehlis is saying is that he can go on roster share (for things like NBA 2k and MLB 2k or MLB the Show), get those rosters to play with and start his season. Not re-start it, but start it.
Just like this past season with the NBA lockout and things going on, guys already had the rookies unlocked and put them on 2kShare to download. You didn't have to wait on an official roster release (unless you wanted the announcer to say their name and give some background information) to get them and then start a franchise.
This is what he's saying...I think. He said nothing about "starting over" though.Comment

Well said sir! Sadly, the only alternative is to not purchase the product and unfortunately that won't happen because 1) there's no other new game for that NFL fix and 2) Frankly, people can be sheep when it comes to Madden. After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!Comment

Re: What Madden NFL 13 Connected Careers Gives, Takes Away and Might Have (Kotaku)
How true , I'd like them to come out with a statement of the nature we'll patch in what we can get to work and have it fully restored in M14 which if it is a time/resources issue should be possible (NCAAImports may be more complicated?).We have to meet somewhere. The intelligent should be able to take whatever the answer is, and move on from there. It's obvious that it is a big issue and the protesters can't do anything. It's in the devs corner and something I feel, the sooner addressed the better. I myself may never have another opinion on the game based on the answer.
I'm sorry to say tho' I can't see that coming. I sometimes feel like I'm being told I'm not playing it right when I question things.Comment

Pretty much, I think people are more concerned with the direction Madden is potentially going. Yes they say they didn't have time but I believe that was just a cop out, editing and multi user control wasn't a priority. It isn't ironic that the features that aren't included does nothing for online play, its a matter of them choosing whats important for us instead of asking and IMO it had nothing to do with not having time to put it in, it never was in their mind in the 2 years developing CCM.If they said they were going to do everything they could to get editing players, importing classes, multiple team control, and couch co-op into CC for Madden 14 I'd be much happier with the direction they're taking.
As far as I know none of this has been said and my biggest concern going forward is that we will be without these features for more than just one year. I wouldn't be surprised if all of these features (except editing) are still absent from CC in Madden 14.
If they come out with an official statement (not from twitter) saying they are doing everything they can to include it in the future, then I think people will be happy.Last edited by Jukeman; 06-15-2012, 09:39 AM.Comment

Re: What Madden NFL 13 Connected Careers Gives, Takes Away and Might Have (Kotaku)
You wonder what would make consumers happy? How about NOT continually removing significant features? With all the features they've removed, then re-added, and all the "NEW FOUNDATIONS" they've laid for this gen, with all that WASTED time, we could have had a full featured, in depth, fully functional, customizable football game by now. And here we are laying another NEW FOUNDATION for the future that removes features. You really wonder what would make customers happy?Comment

You really think people would be happy then? Looman has already commented on multiple places that they ran out of time to include everything and will be getting to those other features as soon as possible. I am wondering if they are going to patch these other things in because his answers on Twitter are different for certain features. When asked about two different players controlling two different superstar players on one team, and a couple other features like fantasy, he says "not this year". But when it comes to editing stuff, and some other smaller stuff, he says "we're working on it" and "some point in the future".Pretty much, I think people are more concerned with the direction Madden is potentially going. Also, I don't know why people are so shocked that EA is catering to the online experience in M13. In the last few Madden releases the online user has pretty much been ignored when it comes to quality features and modes. All we got was a pretty bare bones and broken online franchise mode. Now for a change it seems we are the focus and that is awesome.
Furthermore people should understand that the features they want in CC and are complaining about, are things that will cause balance issues in the mode so it's no surprise at all that they didn't have time to include them in a working and balanced manner for release day.Comment

draft class issue...blah....blah
Cpu trade logic..blah...blah
Storylines...
Twitter feed....
xp...
achievements/trophies
By clicking yes you will be dumped into a bare bones franchise mode without fail safes in place for those features, Cpu trade logic will revert to custom mode, while story lines and twitter feed, xp, achievements/trophies will be turned off.
Contniue?"
Yes No
Provide the player with a separate custom offline cc save and you have a suitable satisfied situation for this complaint.
The one other crucial thing it would provide is answers as to why the features didn't work in the first place. Are we at least worth the answers if not the features.Last edited by TreFacTor; 06-15-2012, 10:47 AM.Proud Beta tester for NFL 2K Dreamcast

Seem to me and its evident in your post that they are giving people the run around.
I don't care what those guys say on a message boards or an twitter account, as a business I am asking them to make it official, I'm not taking there word...
And for the record, this isn't about online vs offline...
And prior to last year, franchise mode was ignored as well, it just happen to be better than a bare bone new feature which was online franchise because it was an old feature.
If they'd build the mode with offline multi user(don't see how that screw online up in balance) and editing in mind, we wouldnt be having this discussion. That is the issue here.
It's hard to believe its not as simple as making editing an option for the commish..Last edited by Jukeman; 06-15-2012, 10:59 AM.Comment

Re: What Madden NFL 13 Connected Careers Gives, Takes Away and Might Have (Kotaku)
I think I for one would appreciate and relent if some sort of timescale was mentioned in regards to possibility of patches , M14 or the more distant future and which features pose the most difficulty and why maybe rather than vague comments via twitter and so forth. You really think people would be happy then? As for being the 'year of online' in all honesty maybe it is due but the only absent feature that would disrupt ' competitive balance' is editing where simply making it available to only the first user( league creator/commissioner) would be a fairly obvious solution.
Btw I keep hearing of misuse of editing ruining online leagues and can't help but wonder, if I was in a league where anybody used such obvious 'cheesing' one of us wouldn't be in that league long.Comment

I'm not buying the game this year because I spend most of my time editing. But isn't it time to let this go and just accept that's the way it is this year? You and a few others are going around in circles at this point.Comment
