This is completely false. I am both an offline and online player, and it will undoubtedly benefit the offline franchises that I play every year. There are a lot of things about it that are pretty good that have nothing to do with online.

If there isn't a normal way to play "Franchise" then I won't be buying Madden. I don't care for Be A Pro or Superstar modes.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
It will be the deepest franchise mode yes, but without letting us customize it how we want. I really like what they are adding with the CCM, I just dislike what they are taking out even more. I like the ability to control every team and every player...and yes that includes editing all the small things.
2 years ago DeSean Jackson got a concussion. He was wearing a Schutt Air helmet. After the concussion he switched to the Schutt XP. Being able to change things like that, as small as it is, is very important to some of us detail oriented players. Same goes with Big Ben...when he broke his nose he started wearing a visor. We now don't have the ability to make the players how we want.Comment

Cmon, Tre, last week you said I was a little off. Isn't that putting the cart before the horse.
This thread is full of passionate madden players, and although we really see the benefit of the CC, it's really only beneficial to the online player and most agree long over due. All the offline customization player wants is the features that were removed and if that means we were neglected and it were explained why, we may have sung a song of praise instead of stirring controversy. Which do you think is a better solution? They way they have handled the situation so far doesn't seem to be going over to well.
I'm strictly an offline player and sorry, never used the features that were left out. I would like to explore CC myself before saying it's only beneficial to online players, I may find it beneficial, too.Comment

You can play franchise like privious years, except you can't play using multiple teams, you can't play other games on the schedule, no editing and you can't play a franchise with your friends, neighbors or relatives using the same console.
Hope that makes sense.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
I don't question that if the franchise is more HC like, that it will have major improvements over the old franchise.
There is a lot of control in the old franchise that isn't in the new. And without having that control, I'm just not interested this year. Which is too bad for me, cause HC like franchise stuff in Madden sounds so good.
So I can see where the other guy is coming from when his view is that his franchise is not there.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
I didn't get that out right, someone posted a list of pluses for CC online, and it would seem that the most improvements are for connected careers online while the offline portion received more subtractions. I see the merit in the direction the game is going I don't agree with taking out customization for the offline portion. It's the only portion I will be able to play.Cmon, Tre, last week you said I was a little off. Isn't that putting the cart before the horse.

Basically my only point was that even if the features that are gone are what was driving your franchise experience as an offline player, to say that the new mode is only beneficial to online players isn't true.I don't question that if the franchise is more HC like, that it will have major improvements over the old franchise.

Yes, thanks. I'm not worried about all the can't do's really.
See any previous version of Franchise Mode, but I'm not worried about controlling all teams and or playing any game on the schedule. What would you consider a "normal" way to play franchise?Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
I agree with you to an extent. Too much that I used has been removed to think it's beneficial to me. But for the features that were replaced instead of removed, if it is HC like, should be much better. There really is truth to your post.
I'm still on my "stop removing features" and "more realistic progression" bandwagon. I don't hold out hope for the progression stuff, but hopefully the missing features will return next year (or in a patch).Comment

<s>@</s>Josh_Looman fantasy draft, custom rosters, editing players, playing other team's games and more. Things I do ALL the time in franchise. Sad
<s>@</s>PGaither84 Sorry man. It’s a completely different mode. Time for a change!
Not a reply I was looking for. I was hoping I would hear something along the lines of trying to get it back in in the near future. This turned me off a lot more.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
I'm turned off by the Player Ratings Editing being done away with.
Even with the Infinity Engine introducing Physics Based Reactions, the ratings will still drive how well/fluid those reactions play out.
If players are still changing direction on a dime, high Player Recognition causing players to react so that there's no time for the play to set up properly, 230 lb RB's with 90's SPD/ACC ratings or 190 lb Off player's running230 + lb Def players over, and the only way to reduce/change these issues has been removed, many more may be turned off.
There are too many variables envolved to whether a gamer enjoys playing the game from their perspective, and removing a feature that allows some form of gaming alteration will be a negative no matter how good/enjoyable CCM may be.
Why...
What some may see as Simulation, others may see as Arcadish.
What some may see as Immersive, others may see as Distractive.
What some may see as Authentic, others may see as Gimmicky.
Point being, never remove something from a Sports Game that gives gamers "Options" because something will "Always" be an issue with each different gamer.
CCM might not be bad, but the closed/limiting option nature makes it bad.
Side rant:
Guess they're dusting off the this generations console Marketing Plan and redoing it for the next generation of consoles.
New territory for their football games on new consoles as they build, while "Slowly" re-introducing old features from the past console generation back into game as a "New" feature (i.e. Madden '06).
Editing at some point will be brought back.
The foundation for Xbox 360/PS3 was HD Visuals they built on top of.
The foundation for the next Gen will be the Infinity Engine they build on top of.
It made them a butt-load of money this concoles generation with the Exclusivity, so no need to re-invent the wheel for next console generation.
Now Madden is really Exclusive to EA's perception about football!!!
Feel much better getting that rant off my chest
