Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
I, (one of the few who have read every page on these and other issues) have rarely seen anyone complain that they cannot edit ratings... that is in and of itself the least common complaint. The more pressing issue is that the offline player will be left with the defaut rosters EA ships on the disc. I can't see how my response signified a personal attack on you in particular. I was merely stating facts. The fact is that the offline player will be left with the inability to update their rosters, whether this includes or excludes the ability to adjust ratings is irrelevant. If we the consumer don't tell the devs what we want in a title, then they will not know that said area was important to their consumer base.You...really need to calm down a bit. And if you read all 50+ pages of this thread, you'll see that some are singling out the inability to edit ratings as being their biggest issue. My question was obviously to them, and apparently didn't apply to you. But I'm done with this thread, because apparently a question that specifically was looking for clarification and NOT argument cannot be met with any type of logical discussion and is instead viewed as an attack.
The good news is, the release of 13 does not mean that Looman will enter your house and break your copy of 12. Have fun.
No matter your opinion on the matter; if you have been here at OS, you know that this is an undeniable matter of importance, if not to the average madden purchaser, than the average OS member! How often do threads regarding Madden reach this level of conversation? It would only be logical to think that the threads of the largest response are the actual issues with the game if for no other reason that these are the areas most discussed and opinionated on.
Stop disagreeing just to disagree!!!!!!!! We all love Madden or we wouldn't have met here of all the millions of BS Azzed places to meet on the interweb. You want what I want even if what you or I want is a little more or a little less, state your opinion as such and move on and we will all eventually get what we want or get fed up and move along. I'm not signalling you out or anyone else. I can respect the person who doesn't care one way or the other; who am I to tell them how to spend money I didn't give them, in the same respect, who are you to tell me what is important to my dollar?
The editing issue is not taking anything away from the additions of the Connected careers mode. It is simply more replayable to the online player than the offline player. When replayability starts to have a price tag. Things have definitely taken a turn for the worst.Last edited by TreFacTor; 06-17-2012, 12:40 PM.Proud Beta tester for NFL 2K Dreamcast

I agree with this. It is dissapointing but there is clear progress being made with the franchise(madden) after years of blah. Cant wait for the demo and game drop.Gamevid4 |videos by DCAL |

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
As somebody said previously nobodys knocking what is in CC its what's missing that remains tthe issue, how you balance the additions and the subtractions is personal to how each individual plays, if you never edited or used imports for example you'll probably be happy if you did or only played with fantasy drafts not so much especially those without internet@mjwr scheme specific OVR, storylines, twitter personalities, ability to switch from coach to coach or player at any time, progression based on multiple aspects( player's traits, system, and coaches decisions), new scouting system that matters, dynamic ratings(production and durability) having an effect on OVR(player value) just to name a few reasons CC is a deeper mode than any franchise mode we have seen before.Comment

I'm not turned away but I am concerned. Mainly because I have no idea how all this is going to play out. Madden is getting a huge facelift and I doubt everything will run smoothly.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
I don't believe that is entirely accurate. It wasn't until just recently that the "players without internet connection won't be able to update their rosters at all" concern really started popping up in the discussions. The initial backlash was rage about not being able to edit numbers, equipment, and names. Not that it really makes a difference, but let's not pretend like most people are only concerned about those without internet or XBOX Live.I, (one of the few who have read every page on these and other issues) have rarely seen anyone complain that they cannot edit ratings... that is in and of itself the least common complaint. Unless I'm misinformed, players of offline CCM will still be able to use Donny's updated rosters so it's only those without internet or XBOX Live accounts who are effected, correct?Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
i hate that it takes away the ability to pick more than one school in a franchise this will be missed alot by my group of friends every madden game we have split up each division and played a 3 player franchise and the forth being the computer the way this game is set up that is impossible im all for adding features
but this year it seems like more is being took out than addedComment

The issue I was discussing was just in regards to editing, and specifically TreFactor's representation of what people have been concerned or complaining about.Comment

Anyone who edits is affected whatever they edit or why so no that statement was incorrect, there is a whole sub-forum here devoted entirely to rosters and editing so it is not just those without inernet connection but it is valid to say they would be worst affected and raise that point as they have no voice hereComment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
I think we're discussing different things here. Obviously the no editing thing effects anyone who edits or wishes to edit anything, but that post of mine was merely responding to this "The more pressing issue is that the offline player will be left with the defaut rosters EA ships on the disc." and this "The fact is that the offline player will be left with the inability to update their rosters" rather than the subject of editing as a whole.Anyone who edits is affected whatever they edit or why so no that statement was incorrect, there is a whole sub-forum here devoted entirely to rosters and editing so it is not just those without inernet connection but it is valid to say they would be worst affected and raise that point as they have no voice hereComment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
Well they are the only ones who can't choose what roster to start a CC so from a roster accuracy point of view they would have the most reason to complain I guessI think we're discussing different things here. Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
No it is an online SS mode with the option to play online franchise. Or the other way round if you prefer. How could you possibly say that it more resembles HC09 when you couldn't even control any players during an actual game.Quote: franchise is dead ... J. Looman (june2012)
IMO CC Is more an online SS mode with the option to be a coach that resembles HC09 (without the ability to change player position that was in that game)
Long term and big picture that promises to be a good thing but it lacks 3 major (to many) options that were franchise staples and maybe isn't ready to replace franchise this year
It is silly comparisons like this which is why others are getting confused and think that you can only call plays on CC.Comment

I was in error in not making that clear possibly but its hardly a silly comparisonNo it is an online SS mode with the option to play online franchise. Or the other way round if you prefer. When with the exception of the method of progression many of the features are clearly brought over from that game so to say it resembles it is something even looman would acknowledge.Comment
