Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
Some people spend a lot of time into editing rosters prior to starting a franchise so that the players have proper equipment and since there are different options for equipment why would you lock that down in the first place.
Another reason to edite rosters is to fine tune ratings to where you think they should be, it's your game and you paid for it so why should you be at the mercy of someone that doesn't know your team 1/4 of how well you do.
Another reason to edite rosters is because you can actually change individual attributes across the board for all players at certain positions and it makes the game play better.
I think most people that don't care about editing just don't have a clue about how it's used and how important it is to creating another level of immersion.Comment

I do wish the ratings were more spread out than they are now. I never noticed how many players are in the mid to high 80's or above until I did the fantasy draft.Comment

He isn't the only guy doing rosters at EA. There is an entire team.... And the rosters he releases are accurate up to the point of when they are submitted to QA which takes a few days for the offline modes and online play now rosters.

My point is not to attack donny moore but that when starting a franchise no EA roster update reflects the entire season in the same way a customised one with added CAPs can even if they were 100% reflective of the week they are issued(they aren but 99% is pretty good... If the rest of the game was that accurate to sundays we'd all be happy)

Are there going to be a bunch of random people that never have existed in the FA pool?Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
Giving users/players full editing proved that we can and do better (faster) for what we want, when we want it compared to Donny and the rest of the EA rosters team. That's only mildly debatable.
What Donny's team should control is an online site much like Teambuilder that sets the guidelines and standards for team and/or roster manipulation/creation. Go back to where Offline and Online are coded slightly different per what rosters they can accept for use - I.E. if you create an offline team/roster, you can only use it in an offline franchise and vice versa. As usual, force everyone to login specifically for creation/download/sharing, too so that you know who's who. Donny and his team can update their ratings for players in a base roster onsite that we can use as our initial template for manipulation (or not, if online)...but...do one base template per week...give us all choices, still. If I want my league to start fresh with a week 8 roster template, there it is.
Even better, combine this site with the site that keeps up with all online/offline franchise stats/standings/etc. If successful, then the online franchises could be controlled by each franchise logged page...and...could have slider settings and limits to roster manipulation (on/off/limited).I'm still playing NCAA 14 and Madden 25...and you know, it's alright.

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Clarification
With the way they update rosters we should be able to start a CC by mid-season maybe.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
yeah I dont get why people wanna play the game their way, maybe adjust a persons ratings like a victor cruz who came out of nowhere, or a laurent robinson, or an arian foster. (the list goes on and on of players who rapidly became superstars but were still nobodys in madden)
or put themselves in the game and make yourself an instant superstar instead of being forced to grind your way there, if you wanna grind, more power to you, but we shouldnt be forced
weve had this argument for the past almost 3 years, its user customization which is a huge feature, people who dont get that I even if they dont use it I dont understand.Comment

When you're playing your CC as the 49ers and you draft a 5'10'' QB named Stecolian Pinkerwink and the game gives him Montana's #16 and linebacker elbow pads, maybe you'll understand.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
Here's the thing with regard to breakout stars being unaccounted for mid-CCM: if the weekly progression is properly implemented, breakout stars during the season will still be very possible. Lower-rated players will have lower weekly and yearly goals, and earn XP for completing those goals rapidly assuming they keep producing.
This isn't to dismiss the concern of no editing within CCM - I would like to see it return at least insofar as editing player numbers and equipment, in that order - but I don't think that the breakout star thing is as much of a concern because we should be able to replicate that within the confines of the mode.Comment

No they won't understand. Those who think we are simply crying over nothing will not have a problem with year 2 in the franchise having only one QB above 6 feet tall. They won't care that he is wearing kicker shoes, that he has a LB bulldog face mask. They accept whatever they are given and are thankful to have it no matter if the paid full price or not. They take their lashes and ask for more. We're whining and operation sports would be a better forum if our kind wasn't here. We are the scourge of the earth because we have an issue with the game that has no bearing on gameplay. How dare we have an opinion on a game many of us have purchased since childhood.Proud Beta tester for NFL 2K Dreamcast

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
I also like editing positions. A lot of times I shuffle players on the offensive/defensive lines, or defensive backs, depending on certain attributes (size/speed/etc). Last season the 49ers drafted a defensive end (Bruce Miller) and converted him to fullback. If I want to do that in the game, let me. "Its in the game" right???
As far as equipment goes, I'm not going to freak out if they get Justin Smith's wristbands wrong. But a huge pet peeve of mine is acquiring a guy that wears black sleeves when your team's uniform has no black in it, and you can't do anything about it.
I have a million other reasons why roster editing is necessary. I could go on all day. Too bad EA doesn't give a hoot.Comment
