I was in error in not making that clear possibly but its hardly a silly comparison
When with the exception of the method of progression many of the features are clearly brought over from that game so to say it resembles it is something even looman would acknowledge.

No that is a fair enough point. It just annoys me that some people still think that 'Coach Mode' in CC means you can only call the plays, and the comparisons to HC09 don't help stopping that mistaken perception.

Madden is getting a huge facelift and I doubt everything will run smoothly.

And that's what everyone forgets or ignores when the Marketing train gets going. Quality Assurance testing has never been one of Madden's strengths, particularly with the offline franchise mode.

Last year when they introduced UFA's, it was a great idea--right up until a major bug was discovered that ruined the immersion as the seasons progressed. Then many were wishing they hadn't put it in. There were manual workarounds, but soon I found myself doing as much work as playing for the sake of realism, which was not so fun.

Can they implement this with thorough QA testing--this year? If so, it can be a great improvement. If not...

I don't believe that is entirely accurate. It wasn't until just recently that the "players without internet connection won't be able to update their rosters at all" concern really started popping up in the discussions. The initial backlash was rage about not being able to edit numbers, equipment, and names. Not that it really makes a difference, but let's not pretend like most people are only concerned about those without internet or XBOX Live.

Unless I'm misinformed, players of offline CCM will still be able to use Donny's updated rosters so it's only those without internet or XBOX Live accounts who are effected, correct?

no internet = no updates (not title updates or rosters). Offline players are left without the ability to update their own rosters and use them in CC. Hardly anyone in this thread has mentioned the inability to edit ratings specifically, and the majority don't care about not being able to edit ratings if the improvements work the way they are intended.

I think calling playing as a coach in CC ' coach mode' causes the confusion , in previous Maddens ' coach mode' in the game options means just that I.e. Calling the plays only which I do a lot

Here's a real simple explanation of what i can't do in CC. Every year in all my ports games i make a CAP of myself and add him to my favorite teams and use them in career modes. This year, i can't do that now. That right there is enough to turn me off to this mode this year.

So if someone doesn't have internet they should not own a gaming console.......: Now that's elitist but exactly on par with the directions of the game, so us underlings should step out of your way I guess.

When it was first announced about connected careers everyone was pumped for it....what a genius idea but by removing the edit function it has taken just as much away from the game.

To me it only makes sense if we can be assured of the following

1) Accurate ratings of all players. As an example in Madden 12 Shane Vereen and Taylor Price had very low speed ratings when in fact they are very fast players (i am sure others have examples) By allowing us to edit this we can ensure we have the most accurate rosters in the middle of a franchise. One of the great things said about connected careers is that there is no need to go back to start over a franchise. Well unless we can guarantee accurate ratings then we would have to start the CC all over again following a global madden roster update

2) when i play madden 12 some of the rookies come into the game with no gloves, wristbands etc. No player except Dallas clark does not wear gloves, why cant we update what equipment our players wear?? Are we sure that they know what Andrew Luck and RG3 will be wearing?...i dont want to wait till the first roster update and then have to restart by CC thereby going against excactly what was said about CC

3) as above with the expanded rosters in Madden 12 i sometimes get duplicated numbers for linebackers and D-line. In fact one time i had a rookie OLB who was No.1 - how can it be gauranteed this wont happen?

All of the above and many more issues were simple resolved by the edit function. We dont expect the game to be able to represent all the thousands of players in the NFL accurately that is why the edit function worked. If you do persist with leaving the edit function out then they must guarantee a perfect roster

Life isn't fair. But, someones video game problems is very low on the list of possible issues that may be experienced. And it is kind of lame to use the plight of poor people as an argument for editing your madden teams.

Basic functionality is my argument and not a persons poverty level. It is simple, the game gives you no way to update the rosters yourself unless you can connect to EA servers. Lack of an internet connection is an example used. Didn't psn recently go offline for 2 months? How did those people deal with roster updates? They did it themselves through editing or transferred them from their computer. Madden 13 removes the ability to do anything to the roster in CC and is should not be this way for a number of reasons.

Some people can't get internet access, or don't want to pay the recurring monthly cost. When I purchase something, I look at the recurring cost, monthly or yearly more than I look at the initial cost. A High Speed internet connection is around $30.00 a month in most places. You may be able to find slower HS Internet access for around $20.00.

But lets see. $65, one time fee for the game.

$20.00 X 12 yearly internet access. That's what, $240 a year?
