Re: NCAA Football 13 Demo Is Out, Post Your Impressions Here
Since when is posting an impression just like the everyone else in here "trolling". If that's the case, change the thread name to "trolling impressions".^ Well anyone who comes into an "impressions" thread and has resort to name calling and trolling, clearly has an agenda. Whether it's attacking the game or another poster, you be the judge.
With that said, I haven't seen a lot of new impressions these past few days. I guess that's what happens when the demo drops two weeks earlier than normal.

I am tremendously impressed with how constructive this thread has become.
Regardless, I have put in quite a bit of time with the demo the last couple days and I gotta say, for a pre-E3 build on varsity difficulty I really notice quite a few improvements that make me pretty happy. Listen, with the exception of NCAA 11, the NCAA fan base has kinda been let down this generation, IMO at least, and because of this I feel like I have to modify my expectations."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Bill Walsh? My first football game (other than the hand-held Mattel, electric football, Sports Illustrated football and talking football) was Front Page sports. I've played for way longer than I care to admit.
NCAA 12 was a major disappointment. The initial release and the subsequent patches demonstrated a flawed product that was not worthy of its passionate fan base. I really feel that as a purchaser a refund was in order - especially after the final tuning patch that froze the corner on the speed option.
That being said, my impressions of the demo are generally favorable:
1. Screen passes are useful.
2. Play-action isn't russian roulette.
3. Read option plays result in positive yards when making the correct read.
4. Throwing a pass OVER a LB's head.
5. Receivers break for out patterns BEFORE the CBs do.
6. Deep sideline fades are available.
7. Players BLOCK on punt returns.
The game still comes up short when it comes to what differentiates NCAA football from the NFL: atmosphere. More stadium-specific chants, fight songs, marching bands, cheerleaders, ...etc.
Will I buy it- of course. It does seem better than last year (but that's an awfully low bar to hurdle). The long-term prospects for this title are not great. In a courtroom somewhere soon a judge is going to rule that the athletes who are clearly represented in these NCAA titles should be compensated and then Madden will be the only game in town.Comment

I just played the demo the hiesman challenge is a waste of time for me at least because i'm not a big fan of RTG mode, but i d have to admit the dynasty improvements are pretty good especially the score updates from the other games and the in game ticker so you can keep up with the other top 25 games or games in your conference, I know these might be trivial to some but i like them.Comment

They are hit or miss depending on the formation. They sped up the animation a bit but in some formations, the QB still takes a weird first step. It seems like the QB Power's where you have a back out in front of you work a lot better but out of Empty or when the back can't get there in time, you're done.
I don't get what the blocking assignments are on that play though because it seems like the OL abandons you right as you get to the line. I don't get why there isn't a pulling guard and a down block to stop that.Comment

I had a different experience I beat Oregon using the read option and play action.Passing seems a bit too easy, but that could be due to difficulty settings.
The run defense AI is 100% psychic. Absolutely no hesitation at running at the ball carrier and the option is damn near impossible to run properly. I simply cannot imagine how this will play on a higher difficulty.
The only decent part of Heisman mode I am liking is the interviews. The game looks absolutely horrible when you play as only the QB. Also the view seems to far in without a pivot option.
Now for the speed option the quarterback doesn't need to take a giant step to go. That's what I find annoying in the game.
I also, couldn't user catch the whole entire time. But, I was 20-22 attempts 3 touchdowns with Barkley 406 yards destroying Oregon muahahaha
... Also, the graphics need to be updated. The final score in that game was 42 - 3.

Read Option is one of the weird plays in the game that I actually feels like it rewards a good decision, punishes a bad one and doesn't do it by any sort of CPU advantage.
Read the back side and the free man stays at home? take what you can get with the hand off. If the free man bites you usually get a huge hole to run through with the QB. Read either of those wrong and its a bad play 80% of the time.Comment

Yeah and the reaction by the DE isn't as fast as it was, so you can actually gain yards as the qb.Read Option is one of the weird plays in the game that I actually feels like it rewards a good decision, punishes a bad one and doesn't do it by any sort of CPU advantage.

I'm attempting to dl it for PS3 right now and I've got 1000+ minutes left!

This is especially odd considering that I downloaded a rather large 10 GB file in fewer minutes just this week...NCAA - Tennessee Vols
NFL - Titans
MLB - Braves
NHL - PredatorsComment

I think it's kind of a good thing it don't work right other wise cheesers could put in a super fast player and just abuse it...They are hit or miss depending on the formation. Has EA or anyone heard of any improvements since the demo. I just find it hard to believe that was the final build over a month and a half before release.
Seems like all the Madden info is stealing their thunder when it comes to any information being released.Texas A&M Aggies
