I think part of the issue is that people are keying in on the Twitter feed and, much like myself with real-life Twitter, thinking "ugh, Twitter".

But the part that adds immersion is what the Twitter feed will be relaying to us. It's the tool to deliver the backstories, the news, and from what I understand even rumors (I believe I recall Schefter tweeting that such and such team was scouting such and such player).

    It's a tool to provide depth-creating information.

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?

Apologies if THIS has been posted before, but:

Today's "revelation" has to do with the inability to influence the CPU teams run / pass percentages in both played and simmed games...

Since, at default settings the CPU hasn't run the ball a realistic number of times in played games in all but one of the 12 years I've payed this title, I'll be surprised if those game planning / play calling issues are adequately addressed...

Also: The sim engine has gotten "closer" over the years, but it's still been necessary to influence stats via the Coach Philosophy sliders...

If we can only play as one team, NONE of that will be possible moving "forward"...

      So:

In addition to not being able to edit appearance, position and attribute, we will no longer be able to influence playcalling in played games or the sim engine stats in simmed games...

I'm almost shocked that sliders seem to still be available to the USER, since they're taking ALL the other customization options out...

        Turned off - A little
To the point of being dissapointed - NO

The biggest thing I'm looking forward too, even more than Connected Career mode is the gameplay engine itself.

From everything that I have seen, it looks like the actual gameplay of the game is the biggest updated feature for Madden '13. Something that I have been waiting for years as I know many others have as well.

I'm sure connected careers will have great positives and negatives but it's the gameplay engine that has me the most excited.

I myself posted last year that I didn't think RTP was coming till next gen so I was pleasantly surprised to hear that it was in Madden 13! I have been a long time proponent of attention to "on the field play" above the other areas of the game. Now I find myself in the position of the outsider looking in. We have the gameplay changes that I thought were paramount (RTP, read and react defenders/receivers, pass trajectories), while losing features I came to rely on even though there wasn't a huge cry for them in the past. It may not be a deal breaker for most, but I find myself in the same position as years before where I can't bring myself to purchase the game new because to me it seems incomplete. I'll make due with the demo (if there is one) for gameplay until 14.

2K5 did the Sports center weekly wrap-up very well. I would think that mot people would agree.

It was revolutionary for its time, but from what I recall it got stale fast. Are there any other sports games with a weekly wrap up?

I still play the game and I still enjoy the weekly wrap up from time to time. If I watched it every week, it would get stale.

College Hoops 2k8 had a really good weekly wrap-up show as well, but it too would get stale if you watch it every week.

So, I guess "well-done" is a relative term. If you're asking "well done, as compared to a real weekly wrapup on ESPN", the answer of course would be "no". However, if you're asking "well done for a video game", I think the answer would have to be "heck yes".

And no matter how stale that level of weekly highlights wrap-up might become, it's gonna be better than tweets.

Too bad I never got bored playing Single Player/Co-Op offline franchise. At least I had the option of playing a franchise with my brother and importing draft classes from EA's other yearly product to make the game more interesting.

Ah, ok, I thought I quoted a post from your previously for you to respond like that, but I discovered it's a random post.

No worries, I feel you on that. I'm not allowed to enjoy a offline franchise with our son this year, but I still think the advancements with CCM and the Infinity engine will be interesting in their own right.

I think it depends upon the type of gamer. Some gamers have more patience then others, and really like to relax and immerse themselves in what is going on around the league. For these guys, I don't think it did get stale. I used to be one of these guys, but ADHD is creeping in with old age.

For more the more impatient gamers, I don't think there is a way to create a wrap up show that doesn't get stale quickly. It is going to be repetitive regardless.

And the other thing that comes into play is how challenged the player is. The guys who cruise to 19-0 seasons really have no reason to care about what is going on in the rest of the league. But if you are battling for that last playoff spot, the weekly wrap up show can be pretty fun...and tense.

2k5 had one of the greatest weekly wrap ups and halftime/postgame shows. It would tell you the playoff picture when you were getting towards the end of the season. It would also tell you the top draft prospects to expect out of the upcoming draft. It would tell you all the going ons of the off season each week. I just wish we could get something like that out of Madden, hopefully next year. Btw did anyone hear if Josh Looman said anything about presentation next year?
