    How do you play franchise?

Do you play every game, play one and sim one, or play for awhile then sim for awhile?

I've started a franchise twice and haven't been happy with how it's gone for various reasons. Now that the patch as been out I think I have my sliders tweaked, and I have my rosters with the full Cubs minor league system created. I'm ready to start a franchise but this late in the season I'm not sure I can play all 162 games. I still flip around playing other games as well that takes attention away from this game (Skyrim and Mass Effect 3).

Anyway, how do you handle a 162 game season? I'd like to keep a balance of simmed games with my rotation so that the starters have a equal amount of game played by me, and simmed.

Leaning towards a play one sim one for now. Thoughts/input/advice?

Me personally i found my favorite way of doing it is to play one game every series, and i try to use a different pitcher every time.

I am in my first year with my Pirates franchise and I am playing every game. That tends to be very long though so I think for the next seasons to come I am going to play one and then sim one

I simulate the first 81 and then play the rest.

If you play 5 innings does that mean you never use your bullpen?

I play every game because managing the bullpen in 2K12 is better than any baseball I've ever played. I love thinking about what's coming up as well as who is ready now.

And really, the fatigue for postion players is also very well done.

Since 2K12 is the end of the line, I'll enjoy this game for two years, getting in a couple of seasons.

I like to play one game of each series then sim the rest. It's the same as a 52 game season except the stats are more accurate.

Zachguy...i use the bullpen a lot...i dont use the mound visit feature so using the pen is a must. I am loving it so far...games dont take too long and fatigue is still in place. I have some houserules I go by as well. I play as the mariners...vargas got rocked for 6 runs in his last outing.

I generally pick random games during the year to play. I like the realism side of things so I always play the full 162 game schedule. I cheat in a way because when I make the playoffs I generally will play every game during the post season which means I normally come out with the world series trophy, but at least the team I build has to make it there on their own.

I play one game per series, and picking my favorite matchup of pitchers out of the 3 games. Its quite fun, and the easiest way to get seasons done quickly, IMO.

Re: How do you play franchise?

This has always been the challenge for me with baseball games. For a true baseball experience, you have to battle out every at bat for 162 games. Unfortunately, I don't have the time nor the attention span for that. So something has to give.

Personally, I don't like simming games. I would rather have abbreviated stats that are at least "Mine". Additionally, I don't like the idea of losing a majority of my games, but making the post-season because the sim results were great......or vice versa.

So I go with the 52 game season. There are definitely some drawbacks though. The fatigue programming really isn't designed for 52 games, so you are on the "honor system" with regards to your rotation. Also, playing single games throughout the season, you don't get that true baseball feel of playing a 3 or 4 game series against a divisional foe. And you don't get a true "Pennant Race" feel with only 52 games.

I play every sixth game. Doing this means you can still use every starter in order but don't have to play every game. If you are gonna do this, make sure you have a good team that can win when you simulate.

I play games i find interesting. I also like to adjust attribute ratings for certain surprising accolades. Example: Jeremy Guthrie won the Cy Young award. So he's now a 90 Overall.

52 games, until IM eliminated from playoff contention. then Ill sim the rest of the season.
