Seb170455's Dancing with the Stars (Dallas Stars CAP/SIM Franchise NHL12)

After a bad start with the Minnesota CAP/SIM dynasty, I will start another dynasty with the Dallas Stars. I have inserted 12 CAPS/Pros of you guys. All ratings are set on 74, except the 3 boosted attributes which will be at 85, at the beginning of this game. They'll be drafted in 2012 and are all assigned to CHL teams.
I will try to make 10 game updates and sim all games. I will do updates on the Stars, League standings and stats, Transactions (trades, free agents and waiverclaims) and on the CAP Pro players.
Last time I raced through the first season to get to the draft of the CAP Pros, but this has some downsides. I will not do it this time.

If you guys like to comment (which is always very encouraging), please make "Twitter" comments.
Despite my bad English, I still hope you'll like this franchise.

        Written by Sascha Jansen,
        Dallas (Texas), june 2011.

Dallas Stars owner Tom Gaglardi sold his team.

On a rainy afternoon Stars owner Tom Gaglardi had a special visit. The guests spotted at his mansion, were unknown to the journalists who where on the hunt for a story. A few hours later Gaglardi announced the selling of his Stars franchise. Gaglardi bought the club with the intension of making it a dynasty, that will be a Stanley Cup finalist on a yearly basis. But after a few economic failures and some IRS problems, he was forced to sell his baby.
After a short search there were some Dutch cowboy friends that were interested in the franchise. The Orange Investing Group bought the Dallas Stars and assured the future of this franchise. This group named sir Pieter van Vollenhoven as the new Governor. This Dutch royal manager always was a big fan of the NHL and hockey.
It was not long ago Gaglardi was the new messiah of the Dallas Stars, but in the land of cowboys and opportunists everything is for sale. There is a new saloon boss and we hope a winning tune will be played there.

          Special report by Sascha Jansen,
          Dallas (Texas), june 2011.

After the sudden selling of the Dallas Stars to the Orange Investing Group, everybody involved with this Texas franchise was in a state of confusion. The new president had talks with all of the managers, coaches and so on. After a good night sleep a few people decided to quit this franchise. The most important people to leave the Dallas Stars were GM Joe Nieuwendyk and coach Glen Gulutzan. Especially Nieuwendyk was afraid the Dallas Stars would become a toy for adults. Van Vollenhoven was disappointed with the resignation of Nieuwendyk (who has Dutch roots).

The Dallas Stars were very up in arms this week and a day later announced they had a new GM and a new headcoach. The Stars signed Dutchman Jo Loonstra as their new General Manager. Another rookie in the NHL will be their headcoach. Van Vollenhoven persuaded Mike Modano to take the job of haedcoach. With these two rookies Dallas Stars will take a big chance. The economic part of the franchise has been secured, but the management of the club is now the shaky part of the Dallas Stars. We will see who will win this edition of Dancing with the Stars?

I have altered the CAPs of the inserted pros. See your stat sheet posted before. Everybody has rating of 74, except the 3 boosted attributes. The strange thing is that not everybody has the same overall rating. The first prognose is that we will all be drafted in the first round.

By Tex Houston, 20 june 2011, Dallas (Texas).

No Wild West show at the American Airline Center.

Not so long ago GM Nieuwendyk and coach Gulutzan were the creative minds of the Dallas Stars. Their time is over. The King is death. Long live the King. This king comes over from the Netherlands. The new General Manager of the Dallas Stars is Jo Loonstra. In contrast with the Wild West take over of the Dallas hockey franchise and the appointment of the new GM, Loonstra is not planning of making his whole tenure at the club a Wild West rollercoaster ride. My rendez-vous was in the afternoon. GM Loonstra was already at the American Airline Center. The moment I walked in the managers lounge, I felt relaxed. Loonstra's presence gives you a kind of peaceful feeling. No cowboy ways at all.

I asked Loonstra how he got here and what his plans are. Loonstra told me, he and the new Governor of the Stars where good acquaintances, and when he recieved his call he was very suprised. But Loonstra didn't need much time to decide he was going to take on this great challenge. He didn't want to use the words dream and NHL in one sentence, but it was apparent to me he was living his dream right now. Loonstra signed a 3 year deal and the first pressing need was getting a coach. As Loonstra got a tour through the American Airline Center, he bumped into Dallas legend Modano. They got talking and Loonstra asked Modano's opinion on a new coach. Modano had a very strong opinion and good vision on what kind of coach had to come here. Modano explained to Loonstra he liked the life at the golf course, but was thinking about returning to the hockey world. Modano had no time frame set. Loonstra has the ability to persuade you to join him in his crusade to get a club, the Dallas Stars at the moment, to the top. His enthousiasm is infectious (I can assent). He convinced Modano to take the job. And in a matter of hours Mike Modano became the new headcoach of the Dallas Stars.

Loonstra went on and told me his future plans. Loonstra is no Brian Burke, who will always try to make big deals with trades or free agency. Loonstra is more conservative. When the opportunity is there, Loonstra won't be afraid to pull the trigger on a big trade or a expensive free agent or contract extension. But he likes to shape his roster carefully. Loonstra explained he likes a young team that can be shaped and will be around for a long time. If he can get a young talented player he will do so. Loonstra also explained the importance of a good draft. This is what makes a good franchise. Loonstra and Modano have the vision of a balanced group of players. There have to be playmakers, grinders, snipers, tough guys and so on. A good roster is a group that complements each other. Loonstra told us Dallas was strong on the left side, but a bit soft on the right wing. So he will try to make his roster more balanced. But this group has a bright future. Loonstra saw many great players in the training sessions, at AHL affiliate Texas Stars and in the minors. Guys like Benn, Eriksson, Ribeiro, Lethonen, Campbell and Oleksiak.

To conclude our meeting, I asked Loonstra what he was his ultimate goal at Dallas. Loonstra didn't take long to think over his answer. Loonstra: "We want to make this an exciting hockey club. We try to bring in the best players available and make the playoffs with a talented and gritty bunch. If we don't make the playoffs, it should not go without a fight. I hope we'll be Stanley Cup contenders in a few years."

Yes, (73, A B B) means overall 73 (so all ratings are 74, except 3 boosted attributes are 85) A offensive potential, B defensive, B athletic. The strange thing is that all players should from a mathematical perpective be the same overall, but they range between 72 and 76. But this also makes it more interesting for the future.
