What would it matter strategy wise if your human teammates don't follow the set strategy? If they do, I don't see why you couldn't, unless you're talking something entirely different.

No matter what your feelings are on how this series has played the past few years, there's no denying this is a big step in the right direction. A deeper, smarter and more realistic game is something I'd like to think we can all appreciate.

it feels great to have EA acknowledge (not in full extent) that what we are trying to say is TRUE..that their effort for the past 3 years in regards to AI is far below what was expected. FB, i feel your pain...for 4 years i bought EA (my last purchase of EA NHL was in 2002, then have 2k3-2k7). knowing i wasted my 3 games (costing to about $180) im kinda disappointed.

but with these promises of EA i am HOPING, like everyone else, that these will translate to the actual game.

A very interesting read indeed. Will this be the first EA hockey game purchase for me in quite some time? I hope so.

I do have a few concerns that the more casual crowd may complain possibly loudly, if the gameplay leans too far in the sim direction. But then again...I kinda have my doubts that EAC would go so far as to have a learning curve too great for even the most casual among us.
This is the part that worries me. NHL11 was great the first month or so. goalies were tough, hitting meant something. Then people complained and the goal fest started and hasn't stopped.

So sick of playing EASHL games that are 8-7. I want to have a challenge.

I remember in NHL 11 when we we're playing and having a ton of fun because it was tough to score and we had 2-1 games online.

It took only a day or two before the glichtfest fans shout out loud how much the game was unplayable, etc. EA got the goalies tone down with a tuner and that was it, 7-6 and 6-5 scores we're back, with huge amount of money goal and cheap tactics.

I'm asking for 2 years now that EA should have two ways of thinking when doing the game. The part offline which should be close to reality, and the one online, we're pond hockey is what the glitchers ask for.

                  BRILLIANT!!!!!!

But EA caters to minors who wants goals goals goals goals more of MLB scoring instead of NHL type of scoring. im very sure the glitchers will call it travesty if they can only play in pond hockey and not "real life" ice.

                      No doubt.

I thought they should make divisions like before, but actually have game play changes between them. Arcade division and simulation division. You can pick one when you make your team. SimDiv is at least 4 guys per team. And the game should be tough. Arcade is everything else.

Sounds really promising. This game could really be special.

It got my pre-order on Tuesday.

                          I agree, Brandon.

Just by what's shown in the video of the improved AI alone, to me...will make NHL '13' a must buy. The up and down type gameplay of the hopefully past, was starting to get darn stale. Imo..there was a real lack of unpredictability in the gameplay.[vs the AI] Each rush up ice would almost always result in a decent scoring chance. Ie...nearly no action between the blue-lines, that could have possibly caused a loss of control of the puck.

Whereas what's shown in the video...center ice play, and how you adjust to it, should make a real difference in NHL's gaming experience. This Hockey IQ video is imo...just the medicine this series needed. Can't wait to give it a try!

The AI. Do we have the option to configure the EASHL players/lines to fit our startegy this year? From what I hear, I doubt it...

I hope the fixed the PP AI.

When I commit a penalty, I can literally kill off a minute, sometimes 1:30 of the PP by just passing back and forth between my D-men behind my own net.

Sit my D-man in the corner, wait for the two forecheckers to collapse on me, right before they get to me pass it along the boards to the other corner to my wide open D-man.

The AI has 3 players sitting on the blue line waiting for me to break out. It seriously takes about 60 seconds before a 3rd guy FINALLY comes down to pressure me into a turnover.

I would hope that they have it so the CPU changes its forecheck pressure when on the PP. Or at the very least if the "AI is aware of all players on the ice" like they say, that rather than send two forecheckers at one dman they'll put one between that second dman to break up a pass.
