    SEASON IN REVIEW
The Boston Celtics regular season was highlighted by a 54-28 record, which included a win streak of 11 games, and them capturing their 6th straight Atlantic Division title. Paul Piere led the team in scoring wit 20.7 ppg. For the 10th time in Kevin Garnett's career he averaged a double-double for the entire season. This year he averaged 17.2 points and 10.2 rebounds as he was the defensive anchor for this Boston team who allowed the 2nd fewest points to opposing teams this year. Rajon Rondo continued to build on a bright future as he led the league in assists with 11.0 per game. The Celtics record was good enough to earn them the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference for the playoffs.

The Celtics went into the playoffs with a lot of momentum. They were matched up with the 6th seeded Indiana Pacers in the first round. They would quickly dispatch of them 4-1 to move on to the second round. In the second round they would face the Miami Heat and their trio of stars. The Miami Heat proved to be too much for the Celtics and they were eliminated once again 4-1 by the Heat. The Heat would go on to defeat the Los Angeles Clippers 4-3 in the NBA Finals. LeBron James finally captured the ring that eluded him for so many years. He also earned the NBA Finals MVP averaging 26.7 ppg while grabbing 9.0 rpg.

Heading into the off-season the Boston Celtics were looking for some major upgrades at the center position. They decided to let Jermaine O'Neal walk and test the free agent market. The Celtics took care of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen during the season and signed them to extensions, so they could focus on the center position during the off-season. During the draft they attempted to pick Fab Melo, but he was taken with the pick before them. The Celtics drafted SF Jeff Taylor out of Vanderbilt, so their center needs would have to be addressed during free agency. The Celtics did a solid job a signed both Ian Mahinmi and Marcus Camby to fill the 5 position. "We went out there looking for a defensive minded center and we found that in these two guys," said GM Danny Ainge when both were introduced at the press conference.

This is the first game of the season for both Atlantic Division teams. The 76ers are coming off a dissapointing year going 33-49. They will be out to prove to the league that they are back and ready to contend. The Celtics are out to prove to the league that they aren't too old to contend and still have plenty left in the tank.

How is Louis Williams injured if it's the first game of the season? Pre-season?

I simulated the first season, so he tore is MCL sometime last season and he is at the end of his recovery now.

PHILADELPHIA -- The Celtics began the 2012-2013 season on the road in Philadelphia. In a year where expectations are high the Celtics started off the season right; beating the 76ers 99-93.

The Celtics led for the entire game last night. The 76ers made their mini-runs but could never put it all together to capture the lead. The Celtics led by as many as 14 points during this game.

With under 1:00 minutes remaining in the game the 76ers would cut the lead to 3, but missed opportunities and free throws by Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo would put the game on ice for the Celtics.

"We looked good out there tonight," said Kevin Garnett after the game. "If this is what our season is going to look like then I am very excited."

The leading scorer for the Celtics was Ray Allen with 22 points. Brandon Bass had an outstanding game scoring 20 points off the bench. "I'm the spark that is needed to come off the bench," said Bass. "Hopefully I can keep this going for the rest of the season."

Andre Drummond led the 76ers in scoring and rebounding in a fantastic rookie debut. He would finish with 20 points and 13 rebounds. "You go out there and do all you can do, and it's dissapointing when you can't come out with the win," said Drummond.

The Celtics will travel back to Boston for their first home game of the season Sunday night against the Nuggets.

The Celtics play their first home game of the season against the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets missed the playoffs last year, but that is no reason for the Celtics to take them lightly. These two teams will meet twice this year.

I had a player (John Wall) who tore his MCL for 2-4 months :/ ... one of the worst injuries to get.

CELTICS GET POUNDED ON THE GLASS AND SCOREBOARD, LOSE TO NUGGETS

BOSTON -- When two players from oneteam grab as many rebounds as the entire other team, then you its no doubt who is going to win. This is what occured when the Nuggets beat the Celtics 98-90 Sunday night.

Kenneth Faried and Javale McGee were grabbing everything that came off the rim as the Celtics' big men stood and watched hopelessly. Faried and McGee grabbed 15 and 16 rebounds respectively. The entire Celtics team grabbed 31 rebounds.

"That's unacceptable," said Doc Rivers. "Point blank. We aren't going to win that way ever, and it proved itself tonight."

The Nuggets controlled this game pretty convincingly throughout. The Celtics made a run in the 3rd quarter to take the lead, but that lead quickly vanished in thr 4th quarter. After that it looked like they had used all their energy and had nothing left in them.

"It's just another lesson learned," said Paul Pierce after the game. "We can't dig ourselves into a hole early and try to climb out of it."

Jeremy Lamb led the Nuggets in scoring off the bench with 18 points.

Kevin Garnett led the Celtics with 14 points. Rajon Rondo fell one steal and one assist shy of a triple-double. He did have 7 turnover though.

"I take full blame for all my turnovers," said Rondo. "As the point guard of this team I have to handle the ball with care like it was my own child."

The Celtics travel to Miami to face the Heat in a much anticipated game around the league Tuesday night.

Fans are calling this the biggest game of the year so far. This rivalry has been building over the past few years. These two teams have met in the playoffs 3 years in a row. The Heat have won the past two series in very convincing fashion. The Celtics travel to Miami looking to give them their first loss of the season.

                          AROUND THE LEAGUE UPDATE

Ty Lawson and the Denver Nuggets agreed on a 6yr/$95.66M extension locking up their point guard of the future.

Jrue Holiday agreed to a 6yr/$68.01M extension with the Philadelphia 76ers who look to have a bright future.

Brandon Bass agreed to sign a 3yr/$11.20M extension with the Boston Celtics.

Tyreke Evans will miss the next 6-8 weeks after breaking his foot in a game against the Timberwolves.

Roy Hibbert will be out the next 2-4 weeks after coming down on his knee awkwardly. The doctors are calling it a sprained knee. You hate to see this, especially since the knee is so sensitive for big men in the NBA.

MIAMI -- In a game that had a playoff-like atmosphere to it, the Celtics dominated most of the game, but were unable to finish it off as they lost to the Heat 102-99.

From the opening tip Kevin Garnett asserted his will on the Maimi Heat defense. Shane Battier spent most of the game, so Garnett used his size advantage and finished the 1st half with 20 points. The 2nd half was much of the same story.

The Celtics were up by 2 heading into the 4th quarter. That margin would grow to as many as 10. With 3:50 minutes remaining in the game, the Heat went on a run to capture the lead. That run seemed to take all the air out of the Celtics as they just didn't have enough to come back.

"It hurts when you play that well the entire game only to come up short handed," said Rajon Rondo after the game.

LeBron James would open the door for the Celtics when he split a pair of free throws with 5.6 seconds remaining to put the Heat up 3 instead of 4. Ray Allen drove the ball down the court but missed the 3 point attempt as time expired.

"I got a good look, but just couldn't convert," said Allen. "As long as I've been playing this game, I should make that shot everytime."

LeBron James finished with a season-high 40 points. Chris Bosh chipped in with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

"We knew if they were going to beat us then he was going to carry them on his back," said coach Doc Rivers. "Our gameplan was to shut him down first, and we were unable to do that tonight."

"This is just another chapter in this storybook rivalry," said LeBron James. "We know we're going to see more of them this season and we know that next time they're going to be geared up for an even bigger battle. We just have to be mentally prepared and make the proper adjustments."

The Celtics return to Boston to welcome the Mavericks to town Friday night.

This is the first matchup between these two teams this year. This inter-conference game should prove to be a good one. We will see what kind of fatigue the Mavericks have since they just played in Idiana the night before this.
