Re: Kevin Durant Rated 95, Blake Griffin Rated 87 in NBA 2K13
Sorry but you're wrong... Durant dunks on people a lot.. You just aren't paying attention.i swear ratings dont mean much for some players in the game lol... 95 only means that hes gonna dunk on people more (which durant doesnt do because hes mostly a shooter but u gotta keep the game entertaining somehow i guess ) and rudy gay that guy plays like hes a 94 lol id take him over melo anyday on 2k
And this is also for anybody else who thinks Durant doesn't dunk on people..
KD Dunking on Pau Gasol
KD Destroying Roy Hibbert
Monster Dunk on Brendan Haywood
All on JaVale McGee's Head
Slam on Timmy Duncan
On Joel Anthony and Bosh
These are basically all on 7 footers too..
These are only a few examples, but it makes my point. Durant is known for some nasty dunks on people. By the way, Russell Westbrook should have a high dunk rating too. I can post videos of that as well if u don't believe me.Last edited by JohnB405; 07-12-2012, 09:28 AM.Comment

Re: Kevin Durant Rated 95, Blake Griffin Rated 87 in NBA 2K13
THISATTN: 2K DEVELOPERS!!!
Please stop using numerical values when determining the 'OVERALL' ratings of players. This will change the 'This player is rated too high, or this player is rated too low' conversations that clutter 2K threads everywhere. I personally would love to see a meter, similar to how THE SHOW does their ratings. On The Show, you cannot visibly tell if Player A is better than Player B...all I'll see is that both players are pretty darn good and this ratings talk will stop others questioning the credibility of the 2K INSIDER and the team.
Thanks!

Is one player always better than another? Nope. Most of the time one player is better at some things and the other is better at others.
Plus, isn't it up to the PLAYERS of NBA 2K to PROVE who's better?
But, alas, what does it matter. As long as the casual fan keeps buying, there is no incentive to improve.Comment

Ha! I LAUGH IN THE FACE OF RATINGS ON NBA 2K!!!!... It also doesn't mean too much if the players don't actually play like the real life counterparts??? Re: Kevin Durant Rated 95, Blake Griffin Rated 87 in NBA 2K13
I actually found somewhere that Blake Griffin takes 79% of his shots within 3 feet of the rim, {I was trying to prove a point to a friend} sadly I can't find that link, so my words are just words, but Blake Griffin is buns. This is the word for word breakdown of a Blake Griffin post up sequence...blake griffin does score a decent percentage of his points in the post with his back to the basket.. His post game isnt great by any means. Its ok and can be improved on.
here are some examples... :33, 1:08, 1:16 so no all of his points werent from freethrows and attacking the basket.
<iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/c_b6Hrz1Wuk" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" width="560"></iframe>
and smh at the guy who said he would take ibaka over griffin.
Blake receives the ball with his back to the basket.
Blake turns and faces up, still without a dribble.
Blake dribbles once before attacking.
Once attacking Blake then performs a spin move {regardless if it works}
Blake throws up some random shot at the basket and prays for it to go in.
====
Sounds about right. Anyway, Blake at 87 is ridiculous as everyone has noted. The guy is extremely overrated. If Blake Griffin is an 87..
Lamarcus Aldridge is a 92.
Al Jefferson is a 92.
Pau Gasol is an 88.
Kevin Love is a 93.
Chris Bosh is a 89.
Serge Ibaka is a 90.
Dirk Nowitzki is a 92.
And there may be others but, none of the ratings above would be true either, that is solely based on Blake being a 87. Last year when 2K12 released, I remember Dirk being an 85, which I kinda felt at the time was a fair assessment simply because even after his playoff performance, it was only a one time thing. Given Dirk's defense, jumping ability and rebounding I thought 85 was good but I would've had no problem with him being an 88. Blake Griffin however, with his lack of OFFENSIVE ability (everything excluding jumping and dunking), his defensive ability which is to me, still non-existent (0.9 bpg; Omar Asik average 1.0 on 17 less minutes) I find this 87 rating for Blake Griffin completely out of line. It's very annoying how people are judging this player solely based on the SportsCenter Blake Top 10 highlights... This guy is an athletic freak, he's not a very good basketball player yet. We can harp on Tim Tebow because he can't do anything (mainly pass haha) but run around and win the game but we can't do the same for Blake Griffin when all he does is catch lobs and dunk on dumbfounded opponents. Come on America.Comment

Re: Kevin Durant Rated 95, Blake Griffin Rated 87 in NBA 2K13
87 for Griffin huh? I guess they're making up offensive capabilities he doesn't have IRL. Hell even Josh Smith, who also relies too heavily on his athleticism to do anything, is a better PF than Griffin.Last edited by FedExPope; 07-12-2012, 03:28 PM.Comment

Kevin Love is considered to be the greatest outlet passer since Wes Unseld, I don't think BG is a better passer than he is..?They're really isn't much seperation from the two of them. Kevin is better outside shooter, but Griffin is more efficient, scores at a higher percentage and can finish inside. Love is a better rebounder, but Griffin is a better passer and ball-handler. Neither player defends well nor has a postgame. I'd give a slight ratings edge to Love, but Griffin is right behind him.
Durant's rating is pretty good, but his defense isn't at an elite level yet. I'm scared to see Westbrook, Bryant and Wade's respective individual and overall ratings.

Re: Kevin Durant Rated 95, Blake Griffin Rated 87 in NBA 2K13
As long as athleticism and skills are combined together into one rating, Blake griffin is always going to have an overrated Ovr compared to other nonathletic PF's that are without question better than him.Comment

Re: Kevin Durant Rated 95, Blake Griffin Rated 87 in NBA 2K13
I must be the only one around here who likes Blake Griffin. He may be a little over hyped, but he's still a good basketball player. 20 and 10 is nothing to scoff at and he should only be getting better.
Even if all he can do is dunk, he's a damn good dunker with hyper athleticism.
Except he can do more than dunk.
He's flashed other abilities too. Things that are coachable and things he should learn barring another injury or setback.
Anyways, overall isn't and hasn't been the be all end all to how they play on the court, or gridiron, or what have you, the individual ratings determine what they do and how they play. So much attention is payed to overall it's getting kind of cliche to get outraged at it nowadays.Comment

I totally disagree. I think the numerical value ratings out of 100 show the level of detail that the NBA2K team is willing to drill down to. Look, are some players, OVERALL, better than others? YES. Durant is a phenomenal player, and the best scorer in the league, but LeBron is a better OVERALL player. Thus the higher overall rating. Also, on any given day one player can be better than another, even though they usually aren't, but NBA2K takes this into account with their roster updates and adjusts players ratings depending on how they are playing in real live. If LeBron ends up having a higher jump shot and three point rating than Durant, then I think you can complain. Otherwise I think the system is fine the way it is.THIS

Re: Kevin Durant Rated 95, Blake Griffin Rated 87 in NBA 2K13
Well, the best thing about 2k's rating is the fact that if you don't know how to use that 'overrated' player, he'll still be average.#WashedGamerComment

Re: Kevin Durant Rated 95, Blake Griffin Rated 87 in NBA 2K13
I hate the 'you don't know something if you don't agree with me' posts. And then you go ahead and say that Durant plays great defense -- if that was the case he would have checked Lebron in the Finals successfully. Some of you don't know anything about the NBA or just don't watch. Durant is very deserving of a 95 rating. He has an ALL-AROUND offensive game. Post AND perimeter. Not to mention that Kareem Abdul Jabbar like baby hook he displayed in the WCF against the Spurs. Durant plays great defense as well.
On offense, he's a nightmare -- on defense, he's just long and doesn't know how to move his feet while trying to play defense with his hands. He looks as if he's playing great defense because teams are hesitant about driving towards Perkins and Ibaka.
Then you have to think about who he goes up against in the West -- I may be overlooking a guy or two but the best one off the top of my head is Rudy Gay. After that you'll have to start mentioning names like Beasley, Marion, or MWP. The SF position out West isn't as star powered like the East. Then you have to think about him being 6'10 and being the height of a power forward -- and inability he has to guard such a position.
But you say he's great at defense? No, he's a member of a great defensive team. On defense, I compare him to Tayshaun Prince on those early 2000s Detroit Piston teams. When you compare the Thunder (on defense) to that team you can see what I'm talking about. Guards that can stay with their man (Westbrook/Billups or Hamilton/Sefolosha) and interior big men who love to be physical (Wallace/Ibaka or Perkins/B.Wallace) -- then you add the long, linky person which would be Durant and Prince.
Now all that was just for comparison reasoning only -- I'm not saying Prince is better than Durant so lets nip that in the bud early.
If you want to say Durant is a good defender, ehhh, I don't agree but don't say he's great. Thats overrating him in an area in which he needs to improve drastically in if he wants to become a true NBA legend.#WashedGamerComment
