Anyways, I'm not seeing any effect with the sprint button held down. Actually, I almost feel like you run better/faster without holding down the sprint button. Yes, I'm not someone who holds down the sprint button 100% of the time, I only use it in open space once my lead blockers have down their job.
Even with auto-sprint off... it doesn't feel like sprint has any effect.

Even with auto-sprint off... it doesn't feel like sprint has any effect.
I use the team with the best running back in the game and I also play with auto-sprint off. I loved it when it was introduced but the game never properly understands when to give you a boost or not.

I haven't tried it with the speed burst off because I really wasn't a fan of the speed burst to begin with. I get where you are coming from regarding the athlete choosing when to turn it on though. -
Re: Even with auto-sprint off... it doesn't feel like sprint has any effect.
It's because of sucktion tackling, when you press turbo, it triggers the computer to get a speed boost to catch up to you. If you run up the middle, and press turbo to hit the hole, the linemen will break-off their blocks, teleport to you, and tackle you.
They overhauled the passing game with passing trajectories and new catching animations this year, hopefully next year they will overhaul on the running and blocking game.Last edited by ghettogeeksta; 07-13-2012, 11:57 PM.Comment

They have the passing game about where it should be now. Hopefully next year they will work on the running and blocking.Comment

Try it yourself and see, turn auto-turbo off, do a run up the middle play and press turbo when you get to the hole, I bet you get hit as soon as you press it. Or just do any running play, you'll see.Comment

One thing I never have quite understood is why people turn these features off.
Everyone agrees that in some cases auto strafe/sprint help and makes things easier
Everyone agrees that in some cases manual strafe/sprint makes things easier.
Why pick one or the other when you, by default, have BOTH?
Pressing R2 with auto-sprint/strafe turned on overrides the auto enabled status. If you are strafing and need to break out of it on the fly, just press R2 and you will sprint immediately, let go to return to strafing, which is WAY easier than manually strafing and manually sprinting. If you are running and auto sprint hasn't kicked in, just press R2 and, whammmmmy, you are sprinting. There is no need to turn it off, you can have the best of both worlds by design."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

I personally hate auto sprint. I only use auto strafe. I dont feel like the players are running though when I use manual sprint. Ive been caught alot of times by slower players without an angle it seems like auto sprint is definatly supposed to be used and manual sprint is worthless.Comment

The reason a lot of people , including myself, turn auto sprint off is that it is very noticeable whe it is on the CPU disengage from their blocks quicker and easier. It's been like this for the last few versions.Comment
