Durant better than Blake Griffin. so it's fair. i mean come on. Griffin has not done anything besides all star and slam dunk to get a 95. Griffin will get in the 90"s when he makes it to the finals. he has not earned it yet. Durant has.

YES. Durant is a phenomenal player, and the best scorer in the league, but LeBron is a better OVERALL player. Thus the higher overall rating. Also, on any given day one player can be better than another, even though they usually aren't, but NBA2K takes this into account with their roster updates and adjusts players ratings depending on how they are playing in real live. If LeBron ends up having a higher jump shot and three point rating than Durant, then I think you can complain. Otherwise I think the system is fine the way it is.
I don't care about LeBron James, Blake Griffin or Durant. I'm neutral. I'm not a "h8er". I don't "hate" on LeBron James (in case you're a) Heat fan. I'm not afraid to admit he's the best right now. Hell, nobody's even questioning his position as the best player in the league. His damn rating isn't even revealed...of course he's going to have a higher OVR but, Jesus, you said "thus the higher overall rating." like it's come out already. But no. It's not about him. I don't hate on him. Period.

      Anyway.

How do you compare Melo and Dirk?

Better yet, how about Al Jefferson and Joakim Noah? One's a scorer, one provides defense among other things. How do you justify rating one higher than the other?

How about Iguodala and Rudy Gay? Again, one's defense and the other is offense.

Timberwolves fans...is Beasley seriously "overall" better than every other player under 80? Hell, even Beasley himself questions it (I have nothing but love for him and hope he succeeds.)

I think they do bump up players a little at times to get their ratings up so they could please more people.

Most role players...hell, most players who aren't superstars get screwed by this system.

Removing the OVR completely allows them to just focus on putting the players in the game accurately, instead of having to spend hours meticulously creating a formula where that the more popular players get the higher OVRs and all that political correctness bullcrap. Maybe they could instead develop other modes...say Association...

You really think that in every single case a player is absolutely better than the other (even "OVERALL")?

Durant's rating is where it needs to be... He does need to improve his strength to keep from getting posted up/bumped on pics but you can't say he does not block shots, play the passing lane, shoot the mid-range and the 3 and he posterizes ppl... Hell, he led the league in scoring for how many years? 3 yrs in a row! He's been in the league for how long??? 5 years... Led his team to the Finals how fast??? 5 years... Sounds like a pretty darn good player to me.

          Listen.
Blake Griffin is an 86 or 87 deservedly on 2K. For you guys saying he's, not better than A. Jefferson, Aldridge, etc. just look at who made the USA team. I'm sure Coach K. Doesn't give 2 hoots about Griffins dunking skills. Its was Griffin at the 4 until he tore his meniscus and they throw my guy in there.

Also off topic : Im surprised I'm the first to note this here, anyone else find it odd Griffin got hurt after being announced after being on the cover? D. Rose was already hurt so now this leaves Durant. If Durant gets injured I'm going to say its not an coincidence!

I completely agree. My favorite player in the NBA is Gordon Hayward. The dude is mad underrated in real life, but in 2k, Oh my God, they give NO love to him!

I think they have his speed the same as most Power Forwards! Did 2k even watch ANY of Hayward's highlights at Butler, or even in Utah? He's blocking as much shots as LeBron does but they still give LeBron that high block rating and Hayward's is in the 50's.

2k needs to stop this biased B.S., because other guys are getting screwed over as well. Enes Kanter is a much better player than his 2k counterpart. And so is Rajon Rondo even. Mark my words, Rondo is the BEST point guard in the NBA. Hands down. That series against Miami was fantastic. Without Rondo, the Celtics wouldn't have gotten past the 76ers. But yet, they give him NO jumpshot at all! He's a much better shooter than people think, that 44 point game was no fluke.

I just hope that the 2k insider doesn't let us down like he did in 2k12, because those ratings were abysmal.

By far one of the worse ratings in the game is Nick Collison. His defense awareness is like in the 40s or 50s, but AMARE STOUDIMIRE defense awareness is like in the 70s. Thats stupid.

So your argument on why Blake Griffin is better than A. Jefferson and L. Aldridge is because he made the Olympics?!

                THAT'S A CLOWN STATEMENT BRO!!

And to your other ludicrous statement, this isn't Madden, please stop.

Only if the best want to play -- not sure how old you are but we (American men's basketball) had a terrible stretch about 8 years ago. That 2002/3 Fifa team struggled and that 2004 Olympic team was hot doo doo.

I never put too much stock in 2K default rosters. There will be edited versions with more true to life ratings post release.

If that is true then that might be the worst thing 2KInsider has ever done.

What these ratings tell me is that Scalabrine better be 90+ overall.

I'd give griffin an 82 or 83. he's athletic, that's it. he's still developing his post game and i think it would be more fun to develop him in association than just inflate his ratings smh
