That Player You Love To Hate

I was just playing a game in my Astros franchise against the Reds and Joey Votto hit a 500 foot HR off Kyle Weiland to give them an early 1-0 lead. But the thing about Votto doing that is, that he absolutely murders my Astros. Every single time I play the Reds, he homers at least 3 times per series. No, that's not an exaggeration...I actually went through the box scores and added this up.

Here's his series HR totals against me thus far: 3, 3, 4, 3, 1 (this one is the one game I've played in that series so far he homered in.)

For perspective, he has 29 HRs on the year...which means that 14 of his 29 HRs are against my team.

Who's your arch-nemesis in The Show? That player that you absolutely love to hate?

Votto also likes to destroy my pitcher's confidence. I wouldn't say 3 homers a series but he definitely rakes.

Another guy who has dominated me is Johan Santana.. Which is strange because he is a 3 pitch guy (I think right?) which I usually dominate.

In my Nats franchise, Hanley Ramirez absolutely kills any of my pitchers. Ive got the same problem with Santana as well. On the plus side, Jair Jurrjens can never make it through 4 innings against me.

Todd Helton and Jhoulys Chacin.

Helton rakes against all of my pitchers and I'm sure Chacin has some sort of voodoo over my hitters because I can't touch the guy.

It seems like there's always that one guy from whatever team that destroys our teams. I would say José Reyes, Logan Morrison, Jason Heyward, Michael Morse, Aubrey Huff... Mostly I remember from my division. So far, they been on a hot streak against me. I should also mention there's been a game or two where Chipper Jones comes up to bat & I'm like *-__-*. We'll miss you, Chipper.

The last 3 years it has been chone figgins....he absolutely used to kill me. This year it has been Gerald laird. I think he's about 8 for 10.

In my A's franchise my personal most hated rival is the Mariners...

They dump Ichiro (major pain in the butt) in year one, so surprisingly the next best choice for me is...

Yeah, he's got two results:

Easy out or clutch double...

He's also got very limited range and a weak arm, yet has pulled off a few "web gems" against me...

He's the best "mediocre" player in my franchise...

The fact that he's supposed to be very "average" makes his occasional heroics even more infuriating...

I find myself trash talking him for the entirety of the game, as a result...

He always finds a way to put balls RIGHT on the third base line. The worst part is that if I intentionally walk him, then he can steal. Always a lose-lose situation.
