I'd be shocked if Take Two is around in 10 years. Maybe even 5. I think market strategists would probably say the same thing. They have really taken a beating with this recession, and in particular, the video game industry not doing well has hurt them. This isn't unexpected though...I think history would show that when an industry stuggles, the minor players without the economies or cash funds to whether a recession are the most likely to get bought by a bigger player or fold their cards alltogether.

As an FYI, I'm not a 2k or EA person. Its not like I'm saying 2k is in better shape than EA b/c I like nba2k more than nba live.

Wait so does this only cover NCAA football? Or would it go for the basketball game too? I think I am in the minority on this website but I never enjoyed a 2k football game very much so I don't really care about them making an NFL or NCAA football game.

Fingers crossed for a College Hoops 2k game in the near future. I love college sports and I still own my College Hoops 2k8

chi_hawks, you're missing the point. EA's position in the industry hasn't changed any because of this settlement, and that's the important thing. A relatively small lump of cash here or there isn't going to hurt them, neither is their stock price, and quite frankly neither is public perception.

They will continue to ride the wave of the gaming industry in pretty much the same manner as they have been doing, and people will still buy their games, in spite of Little Henny Pennys like you.

I always thought the NFL license was requested by the NFL itself - so I assume they have the rights to continue that. EA was the only one who could really pay what the NFL asked (idr how much it was).

2k's NCAA fball game kinds stunk IMO so I'd be shocked if they (or SCEA) got into the football game. Would be great to see new competition but the barrier to entry is high.

CH2k8 was fantastic - would love to see what 2k could do on a 3 year dev cycle run with a new college bball game.

Actually since they will have extra money from no NCAA deal, they'll just throw that to further widen the bidding gap on the NFL license.

I wish Roger Goodell cared as much about how the NFL image is represented across the board...

That being said, i will gladly be in lne for whatever i can get from EA....I feel they owe me.

You argue paying tens of millions in penalties for price fixing, their tanking stock price, the industry they are giants in being decimated by mobile gaming, and incredibly poor public perception doesn't hurt them. Fair enough. Your entitled to your $.02. I will agree that they won't be passed by anyone in the industry, even with the lawsuit. Mostly because the industry is doing really poorly and may be getting replaced by a whole new model itself (mobile). If EA goes down - dang near everyone is going down.

Love the chicken little jab though. Well done.

Maybe if you are right about consoles going out to mobile we will get to see the return of PC games.

I don't get how anyone would think that just because NCAA 2K2 was a bad game would mean that any college football game that 2K made now would be bad. There's really no correlation at all. Most of - if not all of the developers are probably long gone.

If Take 2 did decide to do a college football game, I am sure they would assemble a new team, or bring back who they could from APF or 2K5.

This is just what I think would be the case.

no, but goofy analysts love to speculate about the death of markets. consoles were supposed to kill PC gaming, but games like WoW still have the largest audiences of any games.

I'd like to see sony put out a nfl game. Their last one was decent. Player models were the best out of any game imo. I played it more then madden.
