    Freshman Transfer after 1 season

I am playing with Miami and I have built the program up each year, but i keep loosing my key Freshmen when it comes time to transfer. They are leaving because of playing time, but I never promised playing time to them. I just lost 3 OL players and they were all red shirted their freshmen year. Anyone else have this problem?

Yeah defiantly feel your pain here, I lost a top 3 member of my first class due to the same reason. Bad thing is I created a playbook and certain plays designed for him and moved him up on my depth chart to 3rd overall and he still left, just heart breaking really..That's the only reason i scheduled his team first game of that new season and stomped, ha.

Ouch....I had a similar situation. I lost a 83 ovr rated QB. I had Tahj Boyd for 1 more season...so I red shirted him. He had 88 speed, 89 Throwing power and 90 Throwing accuracy. I was going to start him all 4 years...he left to go to UNLV for playing time. I was looking so forward to playing with him.

What do you have to do to in order to stop them from transferring?

I had a chance to promise him a certain amount of games BUT unfortunately I had made all promises when I recruited him soooo yeah be careful with that.

If I promise playing time I always always always put him in the top two on the depth chart ... and I feel like that's why I've never lost a player to transfer for lack of playing time.

Just a guess, but it seems like some highly rated players just aren't willing to wait more than a year to start, so if there is a higher rated player at their position they will leave. I like the increased transfers as a balance to recruiting advantages the big schools have in the game.

Yeah I lost 5-6 FR(RS) & SO's playing as LSU. Ratings ranged from 70-77 sucks...

I like it, similar to real life where these entitled kids feel that they deserve immediate playing time. It's something I wanted EA to work on for years (better transfer logic). Luckily I'm at Ole Miss right now, and i haven't brought in too many highly rated prospects, and the ones that I do have get to contribute early.

I think that makes sense though, those are the type of players that leave elite schools to start right away at smaller schools in real life. If there is a player ahead of them they aren't willing to wait around if they feel they should be playing in their second year on campus.

I'm looking forward to the additional challenge in building and maintaining an elite program because that has been to easy in previous years without transfers depleting your depth of high 70's and low 80's backups to constantly field a top ten team and that should be a huge achievement, not just another evening of playing dynasty mode.

It makes sense that any recruit rated 75+ is going to expect to contribute right away. One thing I want to test more though is giving a 77 OVR DT 15-20 plays per game in a rotation behind three senior DT's next season in my dynasty. If he sees the field I expect him to stay, but I bet if redshirt him, he leaves.

I wondering if any of this has any correlation to the playing time pitch and the importance of it to the player.

EXACTLY. Kids don't want to redshirt (even if it's the best thing for them), and would rather play a couple snaps in a year instead. Another thing to look at is a recruits interest in playing early. I try to remember that during the recruiting process, and if the kid looks good enough not to redshirt I'll get the promises ready.

That would be interesting to find out.
