Re: 2K Sports Has Already Approached NFL About NFL 2K13 Licensing Deal
I tried guys. I spent a lot of time on the Madden forums this year because I wanted to try and make a difference. I realized, however, that Tiburon, and the majority of the Madden community, really do not want a realistic game. It is apparent that 2k and EA went in completely opposite directions. 2k went the true simulation route while Madden made an arcade game based on Football with a few realistic elements sprinkled in. They have all kinds of elements like rocket catches, warping, nano blitzes and other things that 2k never seemed to have. I'm a person who wants realism. Being 35 and having had every Madden from 1988 until 2000, then playing 2k football for those years, I found a game that really hit the sweet spot for those of us wanting a realistic game.
It is quite apparent that the Madden development team is more interested in creating a game that is more "fun" than realistic. Those who are influencing the direction of the game like game changers are also encouraging them to make it fun instead of realistic. This is a fact, not an opinion. We also have conflicts of interest with guys like SGibs and ZFarls writing blitz and madden ball strategy guides who get paid big money to come up with silly blitzes. Why fix the problems with the defensive line when you have EA Game Changers profiting from coming up with blitzes? Playing with the Giants? Your front 4 won't matter at all, you will still have to blitz every play to get any realistic pressure. May as well be playing with the Browns. I really gave it a shot to try and be included in the current Madden community, but I just can't do it.
EA and the NFL have both ruined what was once something great. The Maddenites will line up again this year at midnight only to be sorely disappointed with yet another unpolished game on the field. I still find it amazing how they feel no shame or embarrassment that their game is light years behind a 5 year old game in how it represents the sport on the field.
It's obvious that 2k will never make another football game again. This great hobby reached it's peak in 2004 never to be seen again. It's time to move on and forget about ever getting a realistic football game up to the level of MLB the Show and NBA 2k.Comment

Re: 2K Sports Has Already Approached NFL About NFL 2K13 Licensing Deal
So sad and true... Im just thankful for Ratesports for his rosters on All Pro even though they arent perfect theyre alot a fun and helps take the pain away of not having another football game to fall back on. Its funny how I can play a game thats 5 yrs old and still be amazed at the line play and interaction and the secondary play between the recievers and db yet feel frustrated playing the the other gm that obviously has superior graphics becuase its current yet can't give us halftime & post game highlights its pretty sad indeed. All I can ask myself is what if 2k decided to make one more follow up to all pro with update modes from 2k5...wowI tried guys. Re: 2K Sports Has Already Approached NFL About NFL 2K13 Licensing Deal
Overall, I'm just sad, man. NCAA seems like it's going to be the same as 12 except for some useless features; then Madden is like superstar mode v 3.0 (now with coaches!) - the restrictions are just closeminded, and it's just sad because EA doesn't communicate or give anyone a good enough reason why things are the way they are.
Long live 2k at this point, I know I'll end up trying the other games - maybe I'll have my mind changed - but for now, I'm honestly bummed out.Comment

With the possibility of EA losing its licenses, its very possible. After 2014, EA cant make NCAA Football games for 5 years so we could at least see a 2K College Football gamePS3rocks09

Thats not the case sir -- you should go back and read that again. It ends any type of exclusive deals that EA can possibly approach the NCAA with -- it doesn't stop them from making a game.#WashedGamerComment

It's not EA; it's Tiburon. They're a second rate dev at best. EA needs to fire them and use another studio to make their football games. But since they're too dumb to do it, we need 2K back. When does the EA deal officially run out? I thought this was the last year because of the lockout extension. My score for Madden 13: 4.5/10
3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.Comment

Re: 2K Sports Has Already Approached NFL About NFL 2K13 Licensing Deal
You're torturing yourself. EA effectively eliminated all other companies from the market. There will NEVER be another NFL game other than EA's brand of football (or whatever you want to call it). The NFL sees no reason to NOT renew with EA. 2k football is dead and buried, it will never be back. In fact, there won't be ANY other NFL football, and most likely, no one will make a generic game. Once again, EA succeeded in buying out the market and riddling it with bug-filled, unpolished pieces of crap. Like I said in another post, the older, long time fans will soon all be alienated and give up the game, but the young kids of today who have never tried the other games will replace them. This is the demographic that EA is catering to.
Stop torturing yourself hoping for another game, it's never going to happen ever again.

I want to "like" it b/c it appears to be true but then I don't want to "like" it because its a reality that's just so hard to swallow. You're torturing yourself.
