Commentators

The North American version of the game will feature new commentators in Gus Johnson, Tommy Smyth and Sam Ryan, replacing Martin Tyler and Alan Smith. Tyler and Smith are still the announcers for the European and Australian versions. This is the first game in the series to include a sideline reporter.
Greg Gumbel, Marcelo Balboa and Charissa Thompson will be the commentators for the tournament modes as well as a secondary team. Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend will be returning in the European and Australian versions.

Is that true? That is horrible news for those of us in North America. I do not want non-soccer people (Gus Johnson, Greg Gumble) announcing my game ... and I especially do not need a "sideline reporter" ... there are no sideline reporters in *real* football matches. What a disaster! And I was just getting excited about the new FIFA.

Is there any way to get the European version of the game to play in USA?

I don't have any info but if I had to guess I'd say someone messed with the wikipedia entry and it's not true.

You mean Wayne Rooney is not in fact an English footballer who plays striker for Manchester United? Man, I thought he was an imposter because the guy who plays for Man U has this fake tuff of hair sticking out of his bald spot.

Gus Johnson has actually been working as the play by play man for San Jose Earthquakes games on the radio this season so he isn't totally a non-soccer person.

If they had stopped at Tommy Smyth then it would've been believable. However, when they added Gus Johnson and Sam Ryan it went into the category of absurd. Sam Ryan? Really?

Kind of a shame that they can't bring Andy Gray back. He had just the right about of charm and mellow.
