Where's the emotion?
One of the coolest things about watching college football is the emotion. Seeing a couple teenagers make plays in front of thousands of cheering fans is one of the best things out there. There is nothing like seeing how excited players get after making a big play or winning a game. One improvement I would like to see in the game is more emotion. I hate the shackles that the NCAA puts on EA to make college football look so squeaky clean. We need more celebrations! We need bigger celebrations! Majority of players in college football aren't capping off there 60 yard touchdowns with a prayer on one knee or a simple little fist pump. What gives? Can a brother get at least a spike! Why can't students rush the field after a big win? Can we at least see the players a little excited after a big upset?? I beat Florida State in a huge upset in my FAU dynasty and there was no feedback at all. That's a huge moment and it should be treated like that! NCAA is so boring without this stuff. Another reason it's tough to get excited for my NCAA games is the lack of emotion in the booth. I mean when I'm breaking away on a huge run I would like to hear something more then that monotone voice saying, "and he's at the 40, the 30, the 10, touchdown!". It's so boring, hearing the same thing every time. The commentary NEEDS to be re-vamped. College football is a game of emotions and this game needs more of it! This game has great game play and it REALLY needs the presentation to match.Tags: None -
Re: Where's the emotion?
Stopped by GS the other day and picked up NCAA 08 ps2 for about $2 and change,, I didn't know any of the features as the game disc came in a generic sleeve. Needless to say, I'm playing as Bama and stop Tennessee behind the line to make it a 4th and LONG, I'm celebrating, the player in the game is celebrating, and all of the sudden he gets flagged for excessive celebration, making it a fresh set of downs. I was angry,,, with the player lol.
It's those things that make it a bit more emotional, maybe everything isn't %100 real, but you can see that the people who made those old games put a bit of love into it. The main excuse that the apologists on this board have for EA is that the game isn't supposed to be real because it's just a "videogame." Fair enough, but at least make it FUN to play.

Re: Where's the emotion?
I agree. I think just adding a gatorade bath at the end of the game with the players jumping around and laughing would add some life.
This might be the thousandth time I have told people this but Brent Musberger would take the commentary to a new level. Everytime I hear him on calling a game I can feel his passion and excitement for the game. Re-watch any close game he called last year (USC/Oregon) and you would hear the same.Comment

Re: Where's the emotion?
Musberger would be great. Anyone new would be great. I buy NCAA every year and get stuck listening to the same exact commentary. I think it's more an issue of variety. They need to get someone new to say some new things with a lot of different levels of excitement.I agree. Gus Johnson can make Texas St.-UTSA sound like the Super Bowl.
I agree wholeheartedly. The presentation and emotion is pitiful.
There's more excitement at Senior's Night Bingo.OKLAHOMA STATE COWBOYSComment

I second having Musburger alongside of Herbie. And they need to just have Brent and Kirk sit down for like 5 hours and record them just doing some of their usual banter to make it feel more real.Comment

Re: Where's the emotion?
I imagine EA has already talked to Musberger about maybe doing commentary for their game and he told them no. I mean he's THE voice of college football now. There's practically no reason whatsoever to not consider him.
Maybe I'm giving EA too much credit, though.
With that being said, I completely agree with you guys on the emotion front. It's the problem I've had with NCAA Football for years.Comment
