Again, what is going to generate more buzz and headlines... announcing real time physics or announcing one of the most famous rappers in the world/ part owner of an NBA franchise is helping? You guys are thinking from the mindset of a hardcore gamer. That's stuff they can announce later but won't generate many headlines outside of hardcore gamers.

Seriously though man, I'm honestly sick of hearing about real time physics. How many people that are casual gamers actually know what RTP do in order to make that a huge announcement?I'm not arguing that the soundtrack is mostly rap. I said I liked it, Yes he is worthy of an announcement but I think most of us would think real time physics, something that has to do with revolutionizing the gameplay should be announced. Most of the casual people don't even care for jay-z, most of them are kids.Comment

Well said. Happy to see 2K take good steps forward and continue to reinvent their series. I'm positive more good news will follow. How is it a negative start to announce having one of the most famous and recognized rappers, as well as a partial owner of an NBA franchise, partner up up with you?
You guys that were looking for some major gameplay change need to understand this is the beginning of the hype train. Having Jay Z signed on is going to generate publicity and interest. The gameplay announces will come but to a casual person those aren't what's going to generate buzz.Only respectable people deserve respect, you destroyed the game.Comment

One thing that really pops out at me is how bad the non-rap track list is. Not even bad bands but bad song choices.
I love daft punk but they pick the most played-out song instead of a daft punk song most of us have never heard on the radio before. Would have liked some surprising choices that would suggest that Jigga DUG DEEP on th track list, but literally anybody at the 2K office could have picked this song list, it's generic as hell.Comment

This is one of those cases where OS'ers think everyone thinks like they do (Me included). You know what the casual fan thinks of 2k? It has Jordan in the game, great presentation, and the online servers suck.
You know what they're going to think now? It has KD, Blake Grffin, and Derrick Rose on the cover with Jay-Z personally producing the soundtrack for the game. This is going to hype up the casual fanbase immensely. Especially considering Jordan's contract is up after this year they are going all out with one last hurrah for the "Legends" so to speak.
This is just to tide us over until the dev dairies.Comment

I know right 2K obviously isn't talking about gameplay this early so why would they announce something like that? EA even waited till they were ready to discuss it for madden and showed builds without it in the meantime.Comment

I kept telling myself i wasn't gonna be disappointed because the announcement was gonna make the game better one way or another. But holy **** am i disappointed that this is not the case. I actually love the soundtrack, but i would much rather have NO soundtrack at all and have improvements to the gameplay.
**** you 2k, from the bottom of my heart... **** you. Played everyone like a violin.Comment

The entire soundtrack is made up of generic and popular songs. I actually prefer this approach. I dont listen to a game soundtrack to find new songs. One thing that really pops out at me is how bad the non-rap track list is. Not even bad bands but bad song choices.

People are just annoyed that this is typical of 2k's marketing department. Hyping things up like crazy and falling short of it. Same reason why Peter Molyneux gets so much crap.
There are tons of examples about 2k just coming off as extremely arrogant with their marketing scheme...hence why so many would actually LOVE to see Live scare them a little this year. Even now, we probably have to rely on some dude in Germany to give us some footage of the game, because we never seem to actually get to SEE the final build before the game comes out.Comment

that's a good thing. You'd rather have a soundtrack with songs you like to listen to than a bunch of random songs from people you've never heard of like a lot of games used to do.Comment
