Ali In The Jungle is a nice choice. Love that song and it doesn't really get much recognition.NFL: Bills

It is personal advertisement for Jay & Kanye. About 10 tracks from them. I guess they need big names because live is coming out this year.Comment

I HOPE 2K READS THIS STUFF. THOSE CLOWNS OVER THERE MUST THINK THAT THESE KIND OF JOKES ARE FUNNY? WHEN IT COMES TO RAP, I WOULD KNOW THE LYRICS TO ANY DECENT SONG. BUT THIS IS FREAKIN OUTRAGEOUS!!! THE ONLY REASON I WAS GONNA BUY 2K WAS BECAUSE OF MY PLAYER!!!!!!!!!! BUT THEM PLAYING A JOKE LIKE THIS.... I DON'T CARE IF NBA LIVE IS THE WORST GAME EVER MADE, I WOULD STILL BUY IT. I HOPE 2K FOUND THIS FUNNY, BECAUSE THEY WON'T BE LAUGHIN WHEN "THE BIGGEST ANNOUNCEMENT IN 2K HISTORY" ENDS UP KILLING TJERE SALES... BIGGEST ANNOUNCEMENT MY...

The worst part about this announcement has been the abundance of random people who've decided to log in and pollute the boards... smh...#WashedGamerComment

This is comically bad marketing at this point.
1) Hype a huge announcement
2) deliver an shockingly underwhelming announcement
3) Explain that we don't fully understand the announcement yet.
4) Hype the "detailing" of the announcement in the future.
Here is my question, why did 2K not just say nothing? And then yesterday when Jay Z was announced, the reaction would have been something like "WOW! Jay Z!!!! #2K #LIVEISDEAD #HOV"
The idea of hyping a big announcement is so risky because it creates expectations that are almost impossible to me. But see Madden 13.Comment

Yeah.
Trust me, this wont damper their sells. Most of the people who buy/play this game dont go on boards/forums or even heard of the "biggest 2k announcement ever". Most of them wont know who is on the soundtrack before the game comes out unless someone tells them.
This will help them sell to more casual gamers. "Hey look Jay Z is the executive producer of 2k13. I dont know what that means, but It must means something good and a good soundtrack"Last edited by illwill10; 08-01-2012, 09:41 AM.Comment

Re: 2K Sports Announces Jay-Z as NBA 2K13 Executive Producer, 24 Song Soundtrack Incl
I think that, generally, this is a good point. But in this case, the inclusion of a soundtrack and presentation by Jay Z really won't appeal to the "casual fan."This is one of those cases where OS'ers think everyone thinks like they do (Me included). You know what the casual fan thinks of 2k? It has Jordan in the game, great presentation, and the online servers suck.
You know what they're going to think now? It has KD, Blake Grffin, and Derrick Rose on the cover with Jay-Z personally producing the soundtrack for the game. This is going to hype up the casual fanbase immensely. Especially considering Jordan's contract is up after this year they are going all out with one last hurrah for the "Legends" so to speak.
This is just to tide us over until the dev dairies.Comment

But this really is a novel approach. I can't think of a game that sold because of a soundtrack. The purpose, I always thought, was to make the experience with the game more enjoyable.Yeah.

I'm guessing we're in for an even bigger upgrade to presentation this year. I don't even love Jay-Z as a rapper, but he's a very talented guy, and he knows how to brand.NFL: Bills

soundtrack isnt going to sell a game. The game itself will/should. But, I know casual gamers who dont like NBA 2k because they feel it is too difficult.
But, Jay-Z is good for Marketing/PR though. Just his name alone will sell some games.Comment

cant complain about the soundtrack. it looks solid; But when it comes to purchasing any game, the last thing I worry about is the soundtrack. when it comes to the NBA, 2k always delivers.
People that are pissed off that Jay Z is exceutive producer of a soundtrack is really ridiculous. I guess people like being p!ssed off, about being p!ssed off about something.Comment

This is all about finishing Live for good by getting big names to support 2k. The marketing is going to be huge for this game.Comment

Presentation-wise(in game), I think he can provide atmospheric ideas and at-the-game presentation. I think there might be better intros in game and starting lineups(players being announced before the game, not the way 2k has been doing) actually being shown in games. I think there will be better stadium atmosphere. I think they want him to give ideas to make the game seem like reallife from a non-gameplay point.
He might have a cyberface in the gameLast edited by illwill10; 08-01-2012, 09:57 AM.Comment

I'm sure it something that goes beyond the soundtrack.
If Jay Z is an exec. producer, his role in the game can't be limited to just soundtrack and music...I'm not saying he necessarily has to be involved in gameplay, but maybe he has a significant role in the art direction of the game.Only respectable people deserve respect, you destroyed the game.Comment
