    CNN Article: Giant Leap Forward

So, towards the end of this article, there is mention of a giant leap forward.

    Any idea what it is?

meaning they are trying to make the game better than 2k11 was , this could possible be the best 2k bball game released considering they used 2k12 as framework and just edited and polished it for a year

I wonder if they will have real time physics and animation.

I doubt it's much except a smoother game, and re-worked controls because Beluba said he didn't like the isomotion controls as they stood.

The article makes it sound gameplay-related, but I wouldn't look too much into it.

Isn't that just standard marketing? I'd imagine there are changes like every year but you can't derive any specifics from that.

I personally hope they keep the standing dribbles. Being able to rock the ball back and forth and create combos, was a great addition.

I would say let's no drive ourselves crazy thinking about all the possibilities or new gameplay features 2k13 will have, but I'll probably start doing that as soon as a gameplay video hits.

Hmm they did mention better crowd reactions. This is definitely needed.

The megastar, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has been focusing his efforts on the game's presentation and entertainment elements away from the ball -- the music, crowd reactions and interactive in-game menus. He is part owner of the Brooklyn Nets, so his involvement is one that is personally appealing, he said.
Jay sits front row at games and knows how the crowd interaction is not what it should be in 2K basketball. I just thought of this they should have OKC crowd stand up until they make the first shot of the game. I know that this is a small detail but that is the type of crowd detail/presentation that might get overlooked.

That makes me wonder if he sound engineered the audience

I can see him/his sound engineers editing the crowd reactions. With him knowing 1st-hand how a arena sounds, he knows how loud it should be.

Thats actually something I could be excited about because I know EA had some great sound engineers... not sure what 2k does year in and out in this area, but it was just a thought worth welcoming if this is the case

Yeah, he could have his sound engineers to help improve the "sounds" of the game.
It is a wait and see thing. There is a ton of things he could have helped improved/added with array of resources.

This actually has me anticipating the Sound/Presentation Insight . It is usually is one of the last insights released(3rd last year). I doubt there will be any big changes to Legends this year.

I still dont see it as the biggest move ever but I have no doubts for whatever reason we'll see some specific attention given to the Brooklyn Nets

It is a big move, but not the biggest move ever. From a Marketing standpoint, I dont see it bigger than MJ/Legends because they werent in the game for a very long time. But, he does bring resources and his name alone will sell some games.

Just googled NBA 2k13 and the 1st thing you'll see is Jay-Z. Multple articles located in websites ranging from CNN to USA Today to Hip-Hop websites to Video Games forums.

I think there will be a VERY high probability that Jay-Z will have a CyberFace in the game and that he will probably be a assistant/coach down the line.

One small thing I hope is that his name isnt too big on the front of the cover.

I know it is "biggest thing" to 2k and they will want to market the heck out of it, but I rather it be on the title screen when the game loads up.

I expect to see more Jay Z commercials.
