Leadoff hitter to target?
I am looking to get a good leadoff hitter. I am the Reds and got rid of Stubbs. I have Lorenzo Cain but he just isn't cutting it right now. I think he could benefit from one year in the minors. I need someone with high contact and good speed. Any ideas on who I should look for?Tags: None -

Re: Leadoff hitter to target?
And if your looking for cheaper with speed and decent contact, you can look at Shin Soo Choo or Michael Brantley.
And i say them two because I've used them for a whole season this year, and I've enjoyed playing with them. Choo also has a decent arm in RF.The Positive Sports Podcast~~~Tough Times Don't Last, Tough People Do~~~Ignore The Negativity, Be The PositivityComment

Re: Leadoff hitter to target?
Austin Jackson. He does still suffer from high K numbers, but you can definitely work with him in training as he still has A potential.
He's a Gold Glove level defender, has some pop, and is a solid base stealer. I wouldn't say he'd be cheap -- but he'd definitely come cheaper than the previous suggestion of Jacoby Ellsbury.I'm just an old guy sports gamer...Comment

I like Grady Sizemore. He hits for power, contact, and has speed to spare!Mariners - Cubs: 2012 World Series

Re: Leadoff hitter to target?
Often overlooked, Jon Jay is an excellent hitter and he has good speed too. Also, Endy Chavez isn't bad, but if you want a base stealer, go for Brian Roberts. He is a very disciplined and well rounded hitter, he is a good base stealer, and plays pretty good 2nd base."The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws."

Giancarlo Stanton
I have other options, but I'm not so sure if they're realistic enough.MLB 12 The Show Mets Franchise: 75-87 (Year 1)

are you still in year one?
if you don't care about realism, ichiro can be had for fairly low prospects, ryan Sweeney against righties wouldn't be all that bad.Comment

Re: Leadoff hitter to target?
Big name leadoff guys like Ellsbury, Reyes, Bourn are hard to acquire w/o giving up a bunch of good players/prospects. Unless you need a dynamic leadoff hitter real bad, you're better off just looking for the player with the best OBP on your current roster w/ some speed or trading for a cheap player on another team with decent OBP + speed.Comment
