Re: Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I am no where near the soccer fan that most are here and I don't possess half the knowledge about the rules/players/etc. that you guys have. Knowing all this I do dabble in playing the video game representation of it from time to time. After playing 4 games of this demo I must say I'm very impressed. I only played on the Regular setting so far but the teammate a.i. seems to be very good as far as moving to open spaces to receive passes or being in good defensive position. It was a little too easy to keep ball away from the D(Could be related to setting). I also think this game looks extremely good graphically(great camera selections) and animates very well. This game is certainly on my radar now.EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

After 2011, they removed the agility, shot technique, technique and aggression ratings, while adding a ball control rating. I can honestly say the thing that saved PES 2011 for me was globally raising the shot technique rating for all players in the game; it did away with all the moon-shot air balls that were commonplace in that game. When I heard they removed that rating in 2012, all the complaints about the "broken shooting" in 2012 made complete sense to me. It's the main reason I never bought that game.Comment

Yes, I never appreciated that until I saw the demo and the real game side-by-side the other day. I was impressed.Comment

I'm not sure how any game can be devoid of an "agility" rating...
And the two "techniques" were really central to each player's performance, it seemed.
I didn't play 2012, but I was puzzled they removed them.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

One thing I'd like to see is more fouls called on follow-throughs when shooting. They are hardly ever called.Comment

Body Balance essentially is a player's strength. Players with high Body Balance are more able to knock the opposition off the ball and to withstand tackles and other physical confrontations. A defender with high Body Balance would be more adept at using brute force to deal with the oppositions' attacks, and to overpower them and win the ball in that manner. Likewise, an offensive player with high Body Balance would be much more difficult to knock off the ball and more resilient in physical confrontations.
Agility determines how fast a player is at moving his body. A player with high Agility is more adept at making movements, such as turns, quickly. Agility is not, however, how well they move or how intelligent/skilled their movements are. Agility is related solely to the speed of their movements.Comment

Remember that this game is Japanese, and they have a very different conception and interpretation of sports games, and when it comes to naming stats or attributes it can get tricky and many times aren't within the confines of traditional sports gaming...so some terms are not what they are in other Football or sports games.Only respectable people deserve respect, you destroyed the game.Comment

CPU Goal. I like how two players missed it before the finish

Wish I meant to do this but it was purley accidental

Right, now I remember. You see, many of them are still there. Technique is now ball control, aggression which was the likelihood of a player making a forward/attacking run was replaced by the attack/defense awareness ratio, agility was combined with acceleration as one stat and is now explosive power (equivalent to quickness in other sports games). Shot technique was eliminated so that shooting was more direct by all footballers like in real life.Last edited by Yeats; 08-03-2012, 09:12 AM.Comment

Re: Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I found my own "fix" to tone down the CPU attack with an editing trick I use in FIFA 12. Using barcafan's roster editor, I pulled the CPU formation back as far as it would go, then changed players' registered positions to mostly all defensive (RB, CB, LB and DB). Attack mentality seems to be tied to position, to a degree anyway. The greater the number of CPU defensive players on the pitch, the more defensively the CPU team plays.
It also causes the CPU to pull more men back when attacked, flooding the CPU's box with extra defenders. Much tougher to get a shot off. And more realistic IMO as the rest of the players aren't just standing around 30 yards up the pitch watching their teammates defend, they're back helping out.Comment
