    Re: read option glitch?

I run the Inside and Outside Zone Read option scheme exclusively. It isn't a glitch, because I end up with a lot of negative plays. I'm not going to say how to stop it, there are multiple ways at multiple positions, but it is non glitch.

Easy way to stop it is to bring more people into the box...please bring more people in the box haha.

just dont blitz, and also place the read guy (DE/OLB) in contain/ I agree it is pretty glitchy. half the team goes to tackle the HB and the other half is glitched into backpedaling to infinity

Read option is a play that is designed to make a defense wrong no matter what. Depending on the guy who is left unblocked, you read which way he goes. If he pursues the running back, you keep it, if he stays home, you give it. You just have to pick your poison. If the qb is rather slow, hit the running back every time and make him do something else.

IME, the biggest gains on the Read Option come when the QB keeps it and half the D chases the RB. So play the read DE and play the QB yourself until you are 100% the ball has been handed off. Yeah, you are sacrificing #s on the other side but blocking in this game is bad enough that the playside DE and LB will usually clean it up for minimal gains.

Another possibility is to run a 3-4 or 3-3-5. The AI goes all squirrely trying to block 3 man lines.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

Actually the read option is designed to make 1 guy wrong no matter what, not the entire defense.

LOL. He called the read option a glitch play. Learn exactly what a play is supposed to do before you come on here making useless threads. Kthx.

Have you ever watched Georgia Tech play? They're pretty good at faking out the DB's bro. Being in high school football literally means next to nothing. High school football requires as much football knowledge as playing a video game about football.

Actually the reason you declare the play to the defense via the formation before the snap in this offense is to cause the ENTIRE defense to over react to what they know is coming. Which gives the back HUGE cutback lanes... Yes you will sometimes run it with the intention of it being a surprise, but teams that run this offense show their hand on purpose. You line up in an outside zone read to the right, the entire D line slants right even after they have shifted to the right and they either stuff the play for a loss, or the back cuts back for a big chunk of yardage. In NCAA Football 13 it does not translate 100%, but it does do a decent job of this.

My problem is that the T doesn't always leave the end unblocked and the never leave the OLB blocked even if they are on he line.
