So, I've gone through the thread and I haven't seen anyone connect the most obvious dots: IF it's true that they are going to go digital distro only, isn't it a waste of money to invest THAT much money in a cover athlete? And we KNOW LaDouche will cost a GRIP of cash!

I think the release of a cover athlete would put the digital only release rumors to bed.

And we KNOW LaDouche will cost a GRIP of cash! The OTHER thing that's dubious to me is the HIGHLY convenient timing on top of the fact that EA is as good as Apple at keeping things under wraps. It's RARE that someone is THAT loose with such a HUGE marketing item at EA. The "insider" is either full of it, this is a staged leak, it total fake, or in the event it's real - this person has a wish to be fired immediately.

The authenticity of this cover went out the window when I found the picture of lebron within 15 minutes of searching for it, And it's true EA is pretty sealed I actually believe the trend on Live's Facebook page posting old live covers leading up the their release of the new one, that has been discussed on other threads and it sounds more realistic than a cover that makes lebron look like a painting. I do though have a feeling LeBron will be the cover if this isn't a digital only game, a lot of sites picked up on a rumor that he was nearly two months ago, if I'm wrong then whatever, last time I checked unless the cover athlete is your favorite player, does it really matter? I have only looked at the NCAA 13 cover maybe twice since I got the game on the release day.

You guys aren't actually taking this seriously right? That is such a poorly designed cover it can't be real. On top of that it's from an anonymous source. No way it's real. EA uses a certain design for all of their covers and this cover uses last years design template. The white curved rectangle around the letters is a clear giveaway. Compare this years EA covers to last.

Clear change in style from year to year in two separate series and Live will do the same, I personally guarantee it. That cover makes no sense at all.

Thing I have to question about that is why the TNT logo is in that screen. Did they really waste cash getting the TNT rights even though they have ESPN already? Also doesn't confirm LeBron being in the game.

The cover is raw and my favorite player LeBron "King" James, def. deserves it! NBA MVP and NBA Finals MVP. Also, getting a Gold Medal in the Olympics. MIAMI HEAT #6.

LeBron is probably top 3 if not the most marketable athlete in sports right now, and I'm sure he knows that. I don't think he would put his name on Live if it wasn't up to par (If he is on the cover).

Maybe Live don't want to officially announce a cover athlete until they're 100% sure the game is coming out.

I also wonder what Durant was told after Elite was canceled, if anything.

Durant may be the second best player in the league, but he's not the second most marketable player in the league.

Durant is a real humble guy, he said he grew up playing Live, that's one of the reasons he was looking forward to being on the Elite cover. Even when Durant heard Live 13 was coming out he was ready to be on the cover. I'm sure he cares much less about the money and his image than LeBron.
