But they just took things out and offered no explanations besides not enough time. I cant help but feel they removed those things simply because the wanted to, it was a design decision and in no way an oversight.

Take away player editing so people are forced to use our roster and purchase the next madden. Take away couch co op so people are forced tO buy multiple games per household if the want to play ccm together.

Madden 12 video from last year. "Edit Players" at the 1:30 mark...

Madden 12 has to be perfect. They've worked on it so much, they have no room for excuses.

I think we tend to give them too much leeway, personally. I don't profess to know the intricacies of designing a video game, but at what point does a consumer just give up?

I quit buying Madden and NCAA on day 1 a long time ago. Now, it's been since Madden 09/NCAA 09 that I even owned a game. I really want to get sucked back in, but I just can't justify blindly spending $40, $50 or $60 on these like I did 10 years ago.

EDIT: I take it back. I owned Madden 09 and NCAA 10, but that's been it.
lol... I give too much leeway according to one side and too much criticism according to the other. I guess that means I'm right.

Jokes aside, I get what you're saying, but I'm simply speaking to 14 being telling for Connected Careers Mode, not the game at large. EA supposedly built it "from the ground up" and EA, game changers, and anybody who is more positive about EA says that this, that, or the other missing feature will be back.

If CCM is supposed to eliminate the competition for resources between the game's career modes since they now share the same feature set, then 14 will be the first year where that should benefit us and we shouldn't run into issues of there "not being enough time" for fairly standard features to be in. That is what I mean by telling.

As for giving them leeway, I don't know what to tell you there. I'm willing to acknowledge that this is the first year of CCM, that's all. Even with that concession, I'm still not buying the game (Madden 13) and have been highly critical of what was not included in CCM. Beyond that, there is nothing a consumer can constructively do.

I am a bit apprehensive about how this mode will turn out. Especially with the horrendous track record of Tiburon and the prevalence of glitches that have become the norm in this day and age.

i hate being told how good something is, by the person who is selling it

i hate being told how to play a game, the way the person who is selling it thinks i should play it

i hate being given something on the one hand and several important things taken away by the other, and then told i will like it

After buying madden every year since its inception, I am done with this game and will no longer buy. I feel they are disloyal to me to screw with all offline franchise options that have been IN THE GAME and are now not available. Roster and schedule control is what I want.

And just to clarify, I didn't mean that to come off as if I were targetting only you.

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?

I've been digging (thoroughly) for facts, and as best as I can figure, all that we love with regards to player editing and custom playbooks will be available to us in "Play Now" mode.

This will cause us to make spreadsheets for season schedules and statistics, but for those of us so OCD about that all, we'll do it without much hesitation. Anyway, I'm about 95% sure of the above information. Once 100% confirmed, I may very well create spreadsheets to share with all. It'll likely be an excel page.
I'm still playing NCAA 14 and Madden 25...and you know, it's alright.

I love the Madden series, and have never once edited a player or created a custom playbook, so this doesn't mean anything to me.
I'm looking forward to this year's game more than I have any version in a long, long time. The new physics engine really looks like the biggest thing to happen to this game in awhile. All I really care about is getting the game to play more like the actual game of football. The little things like importing draft classes, playing editing etc is cool, but that really is just fluff compared to the actual gameplay.

It may well be fluff, but the contentions are the following:

                    A. Every other sports game has full on customization, and they almost always sell better than Madden (some like NBA 2K series has no competition, either). That has to say something per what consumers want or have gravitated to.

                    B. Last year, the whole major selling point of Madden is that they finally got full customization in the game after publicly recognizing that consumers clamored for it so much.

                    C. It's revealed that the CCM code has been worked on for at least the past 2 years...but not once within those years did they try to work in full customization?

They've brought such questioning upon themselves with contradictory decision making of what's really important and suddenly, it's retroactively not. It's rather odd at the least.
I'm still playing NCAA 14 and Madden 25...and you know, it's alright.

This is the first year i'm not buying madden or ncaa at launch and i WILL NOT buy them this year or even next year till they add IMPORT/EXPORT draft classes again. Thats my big selling point. I don't want to see all the top players in college football not in madden when my seasons are done and it is the most UNREALISTIC thing to see fake players in the draft in madden. This dev team should all be fired. Josh Looman said in the CCM video that they have been working on this mode for about 4 years and they couldn't figure out a way to add all the stuff they removed( the most important stuff IMO) I hate when company's make the game how they want it not how WE(the consumers) want. Never going to buy them again unless they get there act together.

Wow I just signed up today and found this out. This is definitely a deal breaker.
I can't edit players in my career "franchise",so even though I may think Peyton thrw pwr should be lower I can't do it.

I think Flacco is underrated, but hey for like 15 yrs I can edit but now I can't?

So rookies that come in I'm just stuck with, can't even import my draft class anymore?

I can't run two or three teams in "franchise"?

I can't even play the other games of my choice on the schedule?

Even though Madden player progression and regression has stunk for yrs I can't fine tune players in my "franchise"

This is an epic failure,I've bought every single madden since 94 even with all its issues.I always siad hey its video game it won't be perfect, but I try and usually enjoy it anyway.

This has completely turned me off of Madden, after hearing about the new engine and physics, and a revamped "franchise" mode I was more excited for Madden then I'd been in many years.

Epic failure EA,completely destoys replay value for me an offline franchise user.Sale lost.

Alright, so by now many people have played the demo and also know what "Connected Careers" is. The concept of the mode IS pretty sweet and does make for a much more interesting, possibly more involved experience with Madden.

For once the most alarming thing for me concerning Madden isn't even the gameplay. The demo is generally decent thus far, but Connected Careers took away the only thing I enjoyed doing in Madden... Fantasy Draft Franchise. Not to mention the inability to import draft classes from NCAA, use custom playbooks within your coached team and edit players (outside or inside connected career). Just too many features removed for me to care.
