    classic teams 2k13

    Hey guys,

Do you know anything about the classic teams situation for 2k13? Same teams as last year, anything new or changed? Also if they're putting any work at all into the legend teams or pretty much jus copying the same over from 2k12.

    Thanks

    Re: classic teams 2k13

Almost no information has been released regarding NBA2K13. As such, like every other feature, there's been no word on the classic teams. I am very, very, very hopeful the classic teams have not gone anywhere. Further, it'd be sublime if 2K found a way to expand upon their classic feature.

Not to look completely beyond 2K13, but I've heard Micheal Jordan's contract runs out after this year. One of my latent fears is 2K will allow the ending of his contract to be a sign to cut the classics altogether. Unfortunately for me, now that I've got a taste of classic teams in current basketball video games, I'm not sure I can do without.

I would think 2k monitors boards like this and 2k share. It seems like there is a huge following for the classic teams. The Legends DLC was pretty successful so I think they will keep with the retro roster for a while. In any event, they paid for MJ this year so hopefully the come correct with classics at least one more time...if not i may skip 2k13 all together and keep playing PB and ddel's rosters!

Yeah I hope they have classic teams again, would love to see Barkley and Miller in the game.

I hope they make it easier to put classic players into association this year...that work around last year was annoying.

Hope to get info about classic players soon, probably this month SOMETIME

I couldn't have said it better myself! I like having the option to bounce back and forth between the classic and current teams or face them off against each other. It extends the games replay value immensely for me.

no doubt. putting the 91 bulls up against the present day heat is just epic. every starting match-up is perfect.

I wonder if they were able to implement old school rules...hand checking and such...it would also be nice to be able teams from the 70's with the no 3 point rule. They never gave us that option....

The classic stuff has been a hit for 2K I think they should keep it around for awhile. The classic line ups are so much fun its better than playing the current day line ups i find. Even if they dont ill stay using PBs roster.

I hope they expand the classic squads.
I`m not getting the game if there are no classic teams or less classic teams than last year.
Hope to see the 91 Jazz, the 93 Suns, the 95 Pacers, the 94 Sonics, the 88 Mavericks, the 91 Heat.
That, plus all the squads already present in the game, would make my day.
Also, I wanna be able to choose how many teams will participate in my season/association, so I can choose only classic teams (without having to repeat teams!)
I want to be able to edit the shorts size, so that every team wears the same size.
                  That is it.

you must be a PC player. 2k will keep legends in the game but thats not the main selling point

I think he's a 360 guy (with the mention of PB's roster, which is a 360 file). And I agree with him. I do believe the classic rosters have been a bigger selling point than some may believe. I'm not sure I'd call it the selling point, but I don't think he said that either. I'm not really sure if 2K has a singular selling point to begin with. Personally, had NBA Live actually been producing basketball games for the past two years and they were the ones to include classic teams (not 2K), I would have at least likely bought both games and if I could have only afforded one, it may have been Live just due to the classic teams. Thankfully, I got the best of both worlds, as I have most enjoy 2K's gameplay and they happened to be the game to feature classics.

That's not to say millions of people flocked to 2K for classic teams. I just feel it's a portion of the game that's appealed to many, many folks and dropping this feature wouldn't be the same as dropping a Streetball mode, or the Crib, or 24/7. Classic teams are firmly ingrained in the NBA's history. As long as they continue to be a part of 2K, and as long as they're not ignored and shoved into the corner of the programming room, this game will always be a guaranteed buy for me.

Couldn't have said it better. The legends are the ONLY selling point for me as I'm no fan of today's NBA with its over saturated media coverage of the Heat and Thunder. Bores the hell out of me.

If 2k eventually drops the legends, i'll stop buying the game.

                          Re: classic teams 2k13

Personally, I'd be particularly satisfied if 2K continues to set the table for its gamers. To me this would include any or all of the following:

                          1. Retro court art.The courts added in 2K12 were excellent (Alamodome, Summit, Hive, etc.). 2K could have easily docked the idea of making these courts because they didn't like the idea of not being able to include the Alamodome name, or Charlotte Coliseum name, or whatever other drawback. Instead, they made it happen, and I'm hopeful they continue to do so in this regard. The more classic courts, the better and more awesome.

                          2. A full slate of throwback jerseys. Again, 2K's been making strides in the right direction and I hope their momentum does not cease. Knowing how 2K's done a pretty good job of providing the classic uniforms being officially used by teams during seasons, I think the NBA may help 2K out this year in that regard, as the league's bringing back the original Raptor dinosaur jerseys as well as the late 90's Cavs and others 2K's been missing over the years. I hope this sort of forces their hand, even though again, 2K's been making solid retro jersey strides.

                          3. As many classic players as possible. On one hand, I thought withholding the Legends Showcase for half of the NBA season was a horrible move, particularly because this also prevented gamers from openly editing and trading legends from team to team. On the other hand, when the DLC finally came, I very much appreciated the deep collection of additional classic players and legends the mode provided. I'm also glad there was a way discovered to move these players over to the regular game. I'd love to see these guys included by default in 2K12, perhaps in a Legends Pool.

                          4. The ability to toggle rules for exhibition, season, or Association games(i.e. removing the three point line). Perhaps I'd just include "Modern Rules", "80's Rules", and "60's Rules" or packages of that nature.

                          5. Era Filters for non "Legends Mode" games, meaning if a gamer chose, they could play a 2012 Pistons/Bobcats matchup with the 60's black and white camera filter. Or, more appropriately, gamers could play classic games of their choice outside of Legends Mode in camera filters most fitting to their time period.

                          6. Free up the ability to edit classic teams and players from the day the game is released. I'm hopeful 2K is able to recognize the glory of user-created classic rosters. Prohibiting users from editing classic teams for the first months of release can be extremely frustrating for those who cherish and prefer using the older teams. Would using the 2012 Heat be the same if Mario Chalmers, Mike Miller, and James Jones were actually three uneditable bald white guys named John Davis, John Williams, and Jim Johnson?

                          7. Free-range court and jersey editor. I think a real way to set the table for gamers would be to implement editors that puts the freedom of creation in the hands of users. If NBA 2K were to follow the lead of NHL 2K (or many years ago), they could include a bevy of classic logos in their game and allow them to be used in conjunction with created teams and courts (similar to College Hoops 2K's court editor).

Basically, I think another classic mode would be awesome. But nearly just as cool would be some sort of continued progression in the improvement of the nuts and bolts of the classic teams themselves.

+1 I probably wont get the game if classic teams arent in. They are so much more fun to use online then regular teams. I need my Pistol Pete. They should expand it though, add more signature moves and shots/free throws but probably will never happen.

Oh yeah, add 00-01 Sixers with Iverson. He needs the money he would probably sign up lol.

2K already included that and other rules in 2K12's Greatest Mode.
