they need to fix the fielding and pitching mechanics. They arent fluid. Since i dont think we can post links just go onto youtube and type in pro baseball spirits. They are so much more smoother than the show. And the most important thing to me is get new announcers. They are boring and stale now. Since 2k baseball is most likely dead either get those announcers or the fox announcers which i like as well. Also retune the franchise mode. Its been the same for too long now. It needs a change.

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne
My request is a revamp of franchise. Sure, there may be some things that can be tweaked with gameplay and whatnot, but I really enjoy the gameplay this year. I think the franchise has gotten a bit stale, and with the new rules now, might as well change things up.
The Good:
-Very in depth with rules for service time, rule V draft, options, waivers, etc. Nothing needs to be adjusted there.
-Minor leagues. Some have called for playable Single-A games, but honestly I'm happy with the way it is. Save some room for other improvements- I'm happy with the 15 man Single-A roster.
What needs to be changed:
-Playoff atmosphere and celebration
-The draft. I don't think I need to explain this too much. Too much value in relievers, not a great crop overall.
-Amateur Scouting
-Contract accuracy in free agency- IMO, players ask for too little compared to what they would get in real life.
-Trade Logic: It's definitely gotten better this year, but there are still a few head scratchers.
-Lineup logic
What I'd like to see added:
-Transfer franchise from '12 to '13!!!
-Invites to ST, rather than just 40-man being allowed to participate.
-More complex contract offers (i.e. buyouts, early opt-outs, no trade clauses)
-10/5 rights
-Rehab assignments
-Managerial Logic: diff. managers should do diff. things (i.e. Joe Maddon with his shifting)
-Rainouts and doubleheaders (and ability to add 26th man for DH)
-I think some players get fatigued to quickly throughout a season. I understand needing to rest older guys, but players like Cano should be able to play 155 games or so without needing a seat every 7 games or so.
-I'm assuming the new playoff format will be added
I know my list is long (I probably left stuff out too). I also know most of this won't get in. But I'd be really happy with a fresh look at franchise mode.Comment

Please for the love of God don't get Joe Buck and Tim McCarver. I think they should go for an MLB network feel, they've already got Vasgersian. Throw in Harold Reynolds, Billy Ripken, Mitch Williams, and the crew and make some kind of weekly wrap up show like NFL 2K5. That would be awesome.
The best video game announcing came in NFL2K5 and MLB 2K11. MLB2K11 used actual announcers, and while adding a touch of realism, it's very, very rare that you are able to use actual announcers and get quality video game play-by-play commentary. Why is that? Primarily, it's because they are out of their element. You're taking a person whose job is to react to what he sees and make an onservation or comment, you're placing him in a studio with prepared commentary and are now asking him to act, to pretend that he is calling an actual game. The problem is that they are not actors and don't have the skill to repeat what comes naturally in an unfamiliar environment. (Seriously - how 2K managed to do it with Gary Thorne is frankly amazing. He sounds so natural, while Kruk and Phillips sound completely out of their elements.)
Which brings me to NFL2K5.
Many of us still harken back to that game for myriad reasons, one of which is the quality of announcing. If you'll recall, 2K5 didn't employ actual announcers. Instead they hired voice over actors to be make-believe announcers, and yet most of us thought it was - and remains to this day - some of the greatest commentary in a sports video game. Why? Because they hired actors who can take scripts and recreate things regardless of the environment.
While I would love real announcers to replace the likes of Campbell and, to a lesser degree, Vasgersian, I think it's too hit and miss. I personally would prefer The Show take a different route and hire actors to portay announcers.Comment

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne
Just played again today, and the strike zone is not a realistic strike zone, it is the strike zone by the book. Id like to see an option to play with a "realistic" zone. i know the ump has some control of this but I think it would be better to see an actually smaller zone. I feel this would allow more walks for both the batter and the pitcher..maybe thats all the problem is for some of us..Comment

I would like to see strike zones adjusted for stance height. For example, Albert Pujols and Troy Tulowitzki are the same height and have the same strike zone. So given how crouched Pujols is, in the game his strike zone is basically knees to shoulders, whereas in real life those same pitches would be balls.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne
Almost forgot some player edit ideas.
Most important is Home & Away edits. Couldn't stress how important this is for a franchise with changing batting glove and armband colors, cleats, etc. I would also like to see the ability to wear batting gloves while on base and the ability to choose different colors for those gloves or if the same as the ones at bat. Another baserunning edit is wrist braces, ex. Michael Cuddyer & Vlad Guerrero. Now for the infield edits. Webbing for gloves should be customizable including trapeze, cross, regular, etc. I see many different webs for all sorts of gloves. I would also like to be able to edit the color of the under glove batting glove. I see many different batting gloves aside from the player's at bat gloves. Last is the at-bat edits. I notice many players have pine tar at the meeting of the barrel and the handle. I would like an option to select how much or if any. Last edit is bat size and the finish of the bat. Some bats are very glossy while others are somewhat rough.Comment

I dont know if its been mentioned, I read through the first 20 or so pages and didnt see it. Id like better stat tracking, as well as more season and all time records, maybe a top 10 of each stat so we can track where certain players rank among the all time greats.Comment

I would love to see each team have their own broadcast commentators whether it be the radio guys or the tv guys. Would love to hear the words 'Souvenir City' when hitting a bomb at progressive field.Comment

I want to see tighter and looser fitting jerseys, because not everyone wears the their jersey the same, see the difference between Dan Uggla and Jayson Werth. Also the option to unbutton your jersey, like Brian Wilson. This shouldn't be too hard to add, but then again, what do i know.
Also chains and necklaces, and balance bracelets would be awesome.NFL : Atlanta Falcons
MLB : Toronto Blue Jays

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne
Gameplay:
-I think hard hit foul balls that just miss 1st base or 3rd base and carom off the wall are too common
-I've never ever had a bloop single.
-I think there are too many foul choppers just behind the plate
-How about we add foul tips into the game?
-I think the strike zones are a little off. When I perfectly dot the low outside corner with a curve it just looks far too low. YMMV are this one, because it may be my camera setting skewing my perception or there is too much break between the point a pitch reaches the plate and the point it reaches the catcher's mitt.
-Catcher's getting up to throw to second base is way too fast and seamless. I don't think the discrepancies in catcher defense ratings play well on the field
-On the topic of steals, I think tags are WAY too fast
-Improve the blocking mechanism. If my guy is stealing, the catcher shouldn't be able to glove a fastball in the dirt so damn smoothly as he gets up
-I don't like the look of a the baseball from the batter's view. The texture is kind of ugly and when it hits the dirt it looks lifeless.
-The swing animations and transition to baserunning is definitely smoother than in year's past. Still I think there should be more variety in swing animations and perhaps even special ones for players like MVP 2005. Please change the really ugly left handed swing where they immediately drop the bat and it falls completely straight.
-Most of my opposite field homeruns seem to be on inside pitches. It's unrealistic and consequently most oppo-shots are look ugly in the replays.
-There are way too many times my outfielder or the AI's fails to cut off a basehit and lose their balance as the ball rolls to the wall. This rarely ever happens in the MLB and I'm not sure if it is an issue with outfield depth or an over-abundance of linedrives.
-Not a big fan of the outfielder catch animation where they put both of their hands up just before the catch. It just doesn't look smooth.
-Also, the outfielders look like they're throwing shot-puts, which makes it look the ball is thrown way too fast. This can be more fluid (more arm extension?)
-Less OF frontflips on throws to the plate
-The animation when an outfielder cuts off the ball from the side is a bit clunky.
-Diving outfield catches should be a bit easier. Too often the glove overruns the ball
-I think the outfielder running animation is very stiff.
-The transition after catches near the wall can be smoother. My guy will sometimes jog and all of sudden they'll barrel into the wall as if the if it was a sprinting catch
-I understand it's hard to program a fan catching the ball, but we should tone down those huge bounces in the stands after a homerun to give an illusion of fan interaction.
-I don't like catcher popups. I feel they have less hang-time than average and a towards the end a catcher will stop and suddenly lunge
-A way to make baserunning ability more intuitive is to make sliding harder for some players. I think slides are too easy anyway. They're too ankle-breaking and trick the fielder too easily into whiffing the tag
That's just gameplay, folks! :wink:Last edited by KGIY94; 08-12-2012, 12:39 AM.Comment
