Re: NCAA Football 13 Title Update #2 Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I might be in the minority here but I thought the Safety play was pretty solid pre-patch. There was some slight flaws with them "deciding" who to cover every now and then BUT, big BUT here, I liked the way that defenders appeared HUMAN now. They made misreads, they choose wrong angles, made bad jumps, etc This allowed to some big plays which is what a lot of college football is, big plays.
Another thing I noticed pre-patch is that lower teams like Sunbelt, WAC, etc have safeties and DBs that had low play recognition and awareness. This means they make more mistakes on the deep balls, where when I played teams like LSU, BAMA, etc those same position players made far far fewer mistakes and were much tougher to throw for big yards!
So with all that said, I hope the pass defense does not change that much to be honest. I liked how it felt pre-patch!
I honestly think they should really look at lowering QB accuracy for the human and AI to some degree. The sliders don't work. Even at 0 on Heisman, I can put a 50 yard pass on the money every time with an average QB. Where are the overthrows and wide throws, and underthrows?
Watch a college game and you will see guys running open on almost every play, but the QB either can't see them(We would need a new system all together to fix that) or overthrows them. In addition to that, long balls are dropped all the time in real life. It seems like every game, a sure TD on a long ball is inexplicably dropped in real life.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

That isn't how no huddle offenses work. Everyone but the offensive line looks to the sideline to get the play. The QB doesn't relay it to the wide receivers. He'd only relay it to the o-line if it was necessary.
Someone else mentioned how he didn't see many college kids run no-huddle offenses successfully, which is asinine.
If a home team is running no huddle and having trouble hearing every single play, that's undoubtedly a bug, as it would never happen in reality.
The bottom line is there should be a DELAY between the no huddle call, the players receiving the play and then the snap. Only time I can see a instant re-line and snap would be after a time out and the players coaches plan their course of action if the following play is successful to run no huddle and instantly run X play.Comment

Does anyone have a list of what this patch broke? There has never been a patch without incident that I can recall.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

If the defense didn't all out blitz pre-patch the pass coverage was pretty good. They bit on a play action that was set up almost every time though and it was too easy to score on a deep ball, but if they didn't blitz or bite on PA, with my sliders, the deep routes were generally blanketed.

Honestly, I don't see college kids running a lot of no huddle offenses very successfully. I WANT NCAA and Madden to play differently. The NCAA is a sloppier game, with more mistakes. Maybe this isn't THE most realistic thing in the game...BUT: clock management by an NCAA QB shouldn't be done the the precision of a mastermind. I like the idea that it takes some time off the clock. The button mashing in this game is NOT simulation football, and I never hear anyone complain how they can run an 80 yard drive in 14 seconds in this game either.Comment

I agree with this, but think it could have been done in a more realistic fashion if they just made the QB do two animations. One to the right and one to the left or one to the right and one to the line. Would take up slightly less time, but still have that pause of the QB barking out the new play to his team.
What will be a bug is if this also happens when trying to spike the ball. That will be bad.Favorite Teams:

Since the likely hood of having those animations in the game the WRs looking to the QB for the call makes up instead of them looking to sideline. Granted it should not happen on spikes though.Last edited by Phobia; 08-15-2012, 02:19 PM.Comment

True, but I think we can all agree the way the game has always handled the no huddle has been slightly "gamey". Whether it is a bug are not, the QB barking orders, the QB, WRS, etc looking to side line for call should be part of it.

You are right in that many college teams run a successful no huddle though.
I do think this is something of a hiccup. Not really a bug/glitch. A glitch would be how they screwed up no huddle last year. I don't want this patched at all in the event it damages something even more. I'm actually satisfied.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Through a couple games of Dynasty play...
- Defense feels fantastic. The CPU Offense seems smarter, and the screen play issue seems just about gone (had one instance vs Texas A&M where the QB tried to run out of a screen play).
- The deep ball issue is still there. In the play now games, it seemed perfect, but in Dynasty the CPU safeties seem to come up about two steps too far. At that point, any WR with decent speed just smokes them.
- I've ran a few end arounds and bubble screens and definitely have had more success running them.
- All in all, the patch seems to have done a good job of cleaning up a lot of issues, and not creating any new ones. Still, it's curious to me that the main focus of the patch seems to not work. I'll give it a few more games before I give up hope, however.

And to all of those saying you're still having issues, I would ask you to look at the safeties awareness ratings and play recognition ratings also. I think EA actually made this matter this game.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya
