I've posted my demo impressions already but wanted to continue. I was excited after playing the demo. Best madden of this gen consoles but seems like EA has f***ed zoom camera view. I used that view with M12 and now it is just horrible. The demo is great but with CC and new zoom camera, I won't buy this. I would've liked to test zoom camera with this demo also!!

Did anyone else use zoom camera with M12, seems stupid to remove views, why not make an extra one if you want something different.

I dunno, maybe its the fact that I recently have been playing All Pro Football 2K8 with the new NFL13 rosters, but I just had a lack of excitement for M13 after downloading it and playing 1 full half this morning.

The animations and all around controls and movements just seem so cartoony by comparison. For example, the CPU RBs have this propensity to run in a hunchback zig zag manner thru the holes and it just doesnt look or feel authentic. Yes the physics engine adds a bit...a bit of variety to the outcomes but by and large it also adds (as others have said) a very wonky robotic look and feel to some of the movements and collisions. Also, the sense of weight and momentum seems a bit light and airy as opposed to being solid like you would expect for a 240lb RB hitting a 275lb Linemen.

Its got alot of the same Madden that you either loved or hated over the years still in its engine and the physics and passing improvements dont stand out enough imho to elevate this game past some of the previous versions. Who knows It may get better, the more I play it...but at this point it feels marginal. I actually still prefer the more grounded solid feel of Madden 10 if I had to play a Madden game. Maybe this will change after a few more games (hopefully)

I personally still feel it is not nearly as deep and as advanced a football engine as AP2K8 is....And certainly doesnt feel as dynamic that anything can happen on the field.

Thoughts?..Am I nuts?

Naw...your not nuts...Its unfortunately just the same old Madden...Nothing special...The Infinity Engine is there and for me it just doesn't add enough variety and change to get over the annual bore-fest that Madden has been for me...Its not that the game is terrible either...cause its not...Its just boring...lacking in spontaniety and variety...adter playing the game a few snaps I feel like I've seen everything...An hour later I'm over it.

EA & Madden are the McDonalds of the video gaming world...Its a great business model but there is no creativity. I dunno the only solutions I forsee is the license going to another developer for competition or EA axing Tiburon. We might as well be playing Madden 2002 with a new coat of paint slapped on top of it.

I'll play the early ticket retail game release but at this point the demo proves to me how EA has now made FIFA their number one game. AS of this writing I'll save $60.

There are 3 things that kill the realism for me with the IE.

1. Players falling over like theyve been shot by a sniper in the stadium
2. Lack of wrapping up/players just running straight into each other instead of trying to make tackles
3. Post play guys just falling all over the place like they forgot how to use their legs

I can over look the Other quirks of the engine but these are killing immersion and realism for me.

Finding my sweet spot with the demo. I put the threshold at 100, and I thought the game felt immensely better. It was certainly less jittery with that threshold and a slow setting.

This is the most fun I have had with Madden than I have had in while. My last Madden purchase was 2009 and I barely played it. This year seems different, it seems way more fun than previous versions. While the IE is not perfect, I expected it to have its quirks. Backbreaker prepared me for it. IE barely made into this years version and they will work out some of the kinks over the next few versions. Its a step in the right direction and glad they are taking it. Cant wait to see this in NCAA next year.

Is there anyway to get the camera to move behind the defense when on defense? Also the camera is just so far away in general its hard to appreciate the graphics. Dont like the running animations but the tackles are great and the atmosphere is really good. Crowd and stadium could look better compared to another football game that fizzled.

Told you it would be more controlled . You and I are often on the same page. I would've cried if the physics were like the demo back in June. Not that it would've changed anything, but you get my point.

My focus right now are sig animations (surprise) and the late game playcalling. If those things are satisfactory in the retail, barring any other issues, I'll be good.

With guys saying the playcalling in NCAA was just as shoddy, I'm hoping Madden got out in front of it with their day 1 patch.
