yeah, a lot of people have this perception that editing players were useless and were for cheesers, when in reality, a lot of the people edited plaers to make their equipment match their real life counterparts, or change their ratings if they think the player is bad in real life (i.e, someone lowers Joe flacco's overall because he think he sucks for example). Stuff like that.Comment

One of the things that gets under my skin is that Madden has never really done justice to the Eagles uniforms until 09, when they finally got the color right. When Maclin join the flock, it irritated me to no end that they had him wearing long black tape when he never did. It also bugs me to have a player drafted or signed who has a "legendary" number. The ratings never really concerned me because the difficulty and sliders adjust how good or bad your entire team plays so using editing to cheat is pointless to me. Most people who will miss editing will miss it because they can't fix what's inevitably going to be broken.yeah, a lot of people have this perception that editing players were useless and were for cheesers, when in reality, a lot of the people edited plaers to make their equipment match their real life counterparts, or change their ratings if they think the player is bad in real life (i.e, someone lowers Joe flacco's overall because he think he sucks for example). What I don't get about the anti-roster editing people is why do you care? Some people want to turn it on rookie mode, make thir QB a star and play that way. How does that hamper your enjoyment of the game in any way? I get people saying 'I don't care because I never used it' but the undercurrent of being critical of those that did edit rosters, for whatever reason, is just weird.Teams: Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Reds, Marshall Thundering Herd, Virginia Tech Hokies (2010 alum)Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
The sides split on the importance of editing will narrow when they have to either restart their CCM or realize that even if they do, the ratings are wrong and won't make a difference anyway. Editing is for so many about the ability to tune the game by also tuning/adding the proper players for realism. Whether for cheesing or for achieving your desired competitive settings, it is 100% control given to the user(s) that ensures replay value of the game. To not include a feature that ensures replay value is bad business because game returns do end up counting against the profit margin in the long run, not to mention they leave a stigma on said consumer(s).
Where I am currently with disappointment(s) per the game is how Play Now Mode is supposedly to allow you full editing, but CCM Mode(s) will not. How is that not a contradiction to the whole reason CCM was made? CCM was supposed to be all-modes-into-one that could be coded the same, play the same, save time, etc. Yet, here we are again with a game that clearly has at least two separate coded modes of play. I do really like the IE for offensive play (defensive play needs work). I think Play Now Mode will be worth it per my enjoying the game...but it isn't the monumental change from any of the past several years where the game had modes that I simply will not play because they are closed off from "how" I play. I'm not even upset anymore about that fact, just rather pointing out that they didn't really achieve what their goal was in having one great mode to bring everyone together.I'm still playing NCAA 14 and Madden 25...and you know, it's alright.

Anybody else look at the instruction manual for Madden 13 yet? It says editing and custom playbooks are in. Now, it doesn't specifically say they can only be used in CCM, but it's got to be available for Play Now Mode. I think I'm buying the game, now. Still want to wait maybe a few days to make sure the washout of some colors aren't an ongoing, unpatchable issue. Otherwise, I'm probably onboard.I'm still playing NCAA 14 and Madden 25...and you know, it's alright.

In your own opinion.
That game got old real quick for me because of the flaws (not to mention the on field play)
And if CCM is a 100% replica of that mode without adjustments then the 1st things he listed would def be missed..Comment

Even with flaws, it has 95% more team management options than Madden 12. I just got into it this year and definitely put more hours in than 12. It could not be a complete replica thought, because most people don't have the football knowledge or patience to complete the tasks.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
have you played madden past 3 years in franchise? the progressing system get out of whack and you end up with guys who have bad stats , but progress 7 points because they are A potential then you have a bunch of players in the high 90s when that in my opinion is for the select few who are elite players is, Tom Brady or Drew Brees so i edit as i see fit. its not reserved for cheesers but its the factor of more control making the game mode to our specification because lets face it, the logic is horribleThis is just my opinion, but does editing rosters that big of a deal? If anything, imo, it just ruined the fun for me, whats the point in spending time trading and getting all the best players if someone can just start from the scratch and just make all of their players a god. Now, i know people enjoy being able to do that and if thats how they like to play it, good for you, but for me, it ruins the experience of drafting that one really good player out of the 6th round and him being a beast! I understand where you are coming from when having a feature removed, because i really enjoyed the fantasy draft that is gone, but im sure it will be back next year and this year im sure everything else will still keep me very entertained.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
I buy Madden every year. Every year I create myself at a position (depends on what our Roster looks like that year) and I bring myself into a franchise. Now this year, I freaking cant do that. Im basically "stuck" either playing with the Roster it has or only playing with my created guy. This is absolute and complete garbage. EA Sports should be ashamed of themselves for even making this game. The developers clearly have no sense at all thinking this is what fans would want. Its an absolute disgrace. I guess I will have to continue playing my Madden '12 over and over and constantly updating rosters.Comment

You really think EA would be bothered to bring all the simple features back? They need to leave some out!
Anyway whats up with the Manual that was leaked? Showing stuff that was not supposed to be in it.Comment

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?
if it was there last year it should be there this year, if they can't make a new mode without taking everything out they should of just left regular franchise mode in as another option so were not forced to play connect careers.Oklahoma Sooners | Tulsa Golden Hurricane | Washington RedskinsComment

Last year's franchise mode is terrible, they HAD to do something radical to make it better.
Hopefully, this is it.Comment
