Re: More NBA 2K13 Videos From Gamescom
I don't think he's comparing PC to console. He's just wondering why 2K does get some NBA players right, but also does get some players wrong. It's an artistic thing it's not about having better graphics quality or a better resolution.Comment

You guys need to all stop with the '2K12 sucked' hyperbole nonsense. No, the game did not suck, it was a great game with flaws. To try to recreate something that actually has an OBSERVABLE real-life counterpart (we're talking sports here, not warfare, not swords & shields, not zombies, not fantasy adventures) is not easy, because a lot of it has the human elements of unpredictability and subtlety.
1. Trying to get faces that take shaving, haircuts, acne, facial contortions, and speech into account is near-impossible, and not many other games get close to even attempting this.
2. Ok, I'll give you that online was a poor experience in the last few years. But there are other parts of the game that still give you a BASKETBALL experience 2nd to none. Try MyPlayer or get a friend to actually come over for User vs. User.
Just...do better than them before you criticize the game. All we can ask is that they fix the FLAWS. Anything beyond that is a feature they put in the game. And before you start trying to break down my argument, just realize that I don't want to spend the time trying to write up an essay about this crap. I'm just sick of the hyperbole, honestly."No one man should have all that POWER."Comment

Re: More NBA 2K13 Videos From Gamescom
I understand that, but don't use the PC community. That's not the place you want to go to support your point becuase they have sooooooooooooooooooooooooo (for emphasis lol) many more tools on PC than the developers are capable of on console. The only thing that comes even remotely close is the PS3, and even that's a long shot. Especially considering the trend of sports games looking WORSE on PS3 (which makes NO sense by the way).
At least compare across the same platform. Compare Madden, Fifa, and PES to NBA 2k in terms of facial design and stuff. And even then you'll see those games struggle to get player faces right. It's not simply a 2k problem.Last edited by DukeC; 08-18-2012, 08:09 PM.Comment

Re: More NBA 2K13 Videos From Gamescom
i'm seeing some good stuff in the second vid, but also some questionable stuff. still seeing a few examples of people ramming into the paint with almost no contact...and the Lebron dunk in traffic looked like it should've been stopped with some type of contact...but we don't have the luxury of replay, so it's hard to say. definitely looked better than last year, but some of the exploitable physics may remain...we'll see when the demo is released.Last edited by blues rocker; 08-18-2012, 08:20 PM.Comment

The same guys that are complaning in this thread will be the same guys that will buy the game , stop complaining the team up guys said that once they put there hands on the controller they had very little to no complaints about the game they said it is like a whole new game way better than 2k12 , they said it is very realistic and they said that player models look great , and the gameplay you are look at is like 4 weeks old 2k is already improving and making tweaks , the team up guys said they walked out of there very very impressed and it was no where near the full build, so stop complaining 2k is now back in business they are doing everything they can to make this the best basketball game ever , im pretty sure they are aware of what your complaints are so stop ,Comment

Re: More NBA 2K13 Videos From Gamescom
I was trying to understand what was making Durant look not exactly like himself. He looks better for sure (body model and all), but his head seems too big to me. There's something off about his head-body proportion. Anyone else noticed that, or I'm just looking too much?My Specs:

That's true. But then again, with the new controls and all, I'm guessing many people will play horribly the first few games. It's going to take some time to get used to. So I think this time around I'll let it slide. My Specs:

Re: More NBA 2K13 Videos From Gamescom
It almost does the game a disservice to see it displayed in such a way...I tried to get through the 2nd video for a 2nd time and the constant long passes and helter skelter play was too much for me.
Hopefully we can get some solid gameplay video's that show off the new controls in the proper basketball context...I think if we get that the game will really shine.
All that being said the game still looks pretty darn goodComment

Re: More NBA 2K13 Videos From Gamescom
You would be right if development artist werent contrained by time and other resources to get a game out the door. I'm sure if they gave an artist weeks to just work on a face, they would be much better. Modders aren't on a schedule, don't have to worry about the smaller bits of art, and don't really care of their hi res textures fit in memory on a console or bring the PS3 graphics cards to its knees. It not just about artist skill.
But I'm sure that those folk that want to sound like experts will find something to criticize.Comment
