Skipped the last two years, so I might not be as jaded as I could be otherwise. That being said, the game is graphically beautiful, especially on replays when you can see the intricacies. Passing game is about how I remember it, which isn't to say it's bad. Same for defense at least IMO.
My main issue is still with the running game. In real life, RB's take little choppy steps while trying to navigate the holes opening (or closing) But Madden, especially for this generation, even after making the speed burst automatic, can't seem to capture this.
It always feels like your coming out of the blocks for a 100 meter dash instead of a measured pace that allows you to flow with the play. Perhaps that could work for some of the lesser backs, as that's a real life criticism that can keep players off the field. But for top tier guys like Arian Foster, Ray Rice, Shady Mccoy etc., patient running is how they operate, and it seems like Madden still isn't giving you that control. In conjunction with the rag doll effects that can hinder you if you bounce off your lineman, the running game still feels as unnatural as it ever.
